Lila's POV

Two beautiful women walked in to greet him. And one of them walked towards me.

“Hi, I'm Holly, one of Vance's concubines.” Her voice sounded so welcoming and genuine.

“I'm Lila. Uhhhh, Vance's new concubine.” I answered with a gloomy look on my face.

“C'mon, it's not that bad here.” She comforted me. Maybe I'm too quick to judge, but I can tell she is a good person. I feel safe in her presence.

“Lila?” The other woman called me over Vance’s shoulder. I turned to look at her, my heart starting to beat when I saw her face.

“Oh no, not again? It's that bitch Jade. I muttered.

“You know her?” Vance asked me

“Yes, I do. Good to see you again, Jade,” I greeted my high school rival politely.

Jade and I studied at the same high school. She hated me and was a constant bully, always looking for ways to publicly humiliate me at every opportunity.

“Good to see you too, Lila!” Jade guffawed with fake cheer infused in her voice.

I know that antic anywhere, her gestures are fake as fuck.

She hugged me tightly, really tight. I started feeling dizzy and was about to withdraw from the hug when she whispered into my ear

“You stupid bitch, how on earth did we cross paths again? You will regret ever coming here.”

Shivers ran down my spine like a racecar on a highway.

“That's enough, I don't have time for this. You shall continue your reunion later.” Vance bellowed, breaking us up. I gasped for air as I watched Jade return to Vance's arms.

Vance commanded Jade to show me to my room. I wanted the ground to open and swallow me at that point. I knew instantly that there would be trouble.

“Follow me,” Jade commanded, smirking mischievously.

This is not going to end well for me.

We climbed up the stairs and walked down the hallway to the end. There was a door at the end of the hallway.

“Here we are.” Jade jeered as she opened the door.

“It's pretty dark, are you…….”

“Ahhh!” I yelled agonizingly.

Jade pushed me down the stairs of the dark room and burst into laughter.

“Haha, just like the good old days. You gullible piece of shit! Does this part of the mansion look like it's for someone like you? Hahaha, your room is in the maid's quarters, the very first one. Peasant!”

That's it, I'm going to rip out her throat.

“Jade you witch!” I shouted, storming up the stairs but Jade was quicker. She shut the door and cackled devilishly. “Help! Help.” I banged my fists on the door, the dust on the door forming a mist on my face.

I sneezed and wheezed till my eyes turned red. I covered my nostrils with my palm and continued banging on the door.

“Are you okay? What are you doing there? That's the basement.” Holly asked as she opened the door.

“Jade happened,” I replied as I struggled to catch my breath.

“But why would she do such a thing?” Holly furrowed her brow in confusion.

“We go way back to high school.” I stammered, still feeling the effects of the dust I had inhaled. I can taste it, yuck!

“Oh, I see. Don't let me bug you with questions. Come, I'll show you your room.” Holly helped me up and we went downstairs.

We headed straight to the maid's quarters, and Jade was right. My room was the first room in the maid's quarters.

“Thank you so much, Holly.” I thanked her for helping out.

*********

A week passed by like a wind blowing through a tree. By this time I had already gotten accustomed to my new life as a maid.

Holly and I also got very close during that period. She became my confidant, turns out I wasn't the only one with so much hatred for Vance.

Holly’s pack got ransacked by Vance and she was forced to be his concubine just so she could survive. It makes me wonder how many more people in this mansion had a hidden hatred for Vance.

“Alpha Vance has requested that everyone be present in the living room to welcome his son, Nolan.” The guard declared.

“Alright, I'll be there in a few minutes,” I dropped the cleaning utensils in the storage unit just below the stairway and joined everyone else in the living room.

In walked a young man with broad shoulders and a nice jawline.

“Nolan”

Vance embraced his son.

“He has some striking resemblance to Leander. I hope he is different from his father.” I sniggered.

“Sorry to disappoint you, Lila, but he is a carbon copy of his father,” Holly replied, leaving me to welcome Nolan.

Nolan had a nice, or should I say perfect, jawline; I couldn't help but stare at him. My mind went blank when he caught me staring at him, he smiled moderately and turned to his father.

My son Nolan just successfully defeated and conquered the Cresentmoon pack. We’ll be having a party tonight to celebrate his victory. Alpha Vance declared.

We started the preparations for the party and it was done after some long hours of working. All that is left is for Vance to signal the commencement.

Several of Vance's friends from different packs came to celebrate with Vance and his son, Nolan.

Vance got the party started with a toast to Nolan's victory, and the merriment began. It got loud really fast, and people were talking simultaneously whilst the music played at a moderate volume in the background.

In no time, I and the other maids began asking what the guests would like to have. We moved from the kitchen to the hall concurrently; the other maids found it easy because most of them could shift, so they used their wolf occasionally.

I started feeling tired and stressed after about an hour. I stopped in the kitchen to catch my breath while the other maids continued working mindlessly.

I returned after gathering some energy from my little rest.

What the hell!

The maids were being touched inappropriately by the male guests and the maids didn't complain or retreat. Some were already riding the guests, half-naked. I felt bile crawl up my throat as I saw Vance and his son doing the same thing.

Disgusting!

“Hey, you! Come get a hold of this.” One of the guests flashed his manhood at me, smacking his lips constantly.

“She's off limits, perverts.” Vance stepped in before anything else transpired…

The name hung in the air like a curse, and for a split second, the entire chamber fell silent. Even the other Void warriors paused, their swords hovering mid-strike as they watched the two brothers face off. Lila and Jade stood frozen beside Cole, their eyes wide with shock—neither had ever heard him mention a brother. Leo circled Cole slowly, his sword held ready, but his eyes held a flicker of something that wasn’t just darkness. Grief. Anger. Hurt. “You didn’t even look for me,” he said, his voice rough. “Father told you I was dead, and you just… believed him. You moved on. Became the perfect little Shadow Keeper, while I was trapped in the void, being broken down piece by piece.” Cole’s heart ached, the weight of it threatening to crush his resolve. “I would have looked,” he whispered, his hands trembling. “If I’d known—if father had told me—” “Told you?” Leo laughed, a harsh, bitter sound. “He sent me there. He sacrificed me t

The cold that lingered after the Void Queen’s departure seeped deeper than any mountain chill. Cole knelt beside his father, whose breathing was shallow but steady, while Elara limped over to tend to him, her healing light glowing faintly in her palms. Lila stood watch at the edge of the valley, her eyes fixed on the spot where the dark figures had vanished, her jaw set. “He’s stable,” Elara said, wiping sweat from her brow. “But the shadow left its mark. It’ll take time for him to fully recover—and even then… I don’t know if he’ll be the same.” Cole nodded, his gaze drifting to the Blade of Annihilation, which lay inert in the dust. It no longer hummed with darkness, but its black surface still seemed to drink in the light. Jade walked over and kicked it gently with her boot, a look of disgust on her face. “We should destroy it,” she said. “Before someone else finds it.” “Can we?” Lila asked, turning from the valley. “It’s forged from

The Blade of Annihilation’s shadow fell over Cole like a shroud, and for the first time in his life as the Balance Keeper, fear seized him. Not the hot, sharp fear of betrayal or death—but a cold, deep dread that settled in his bones, because the man standing before him was not just a stranger in his father’s form. It was him—the same hands that had taught Cole to wield shadow, the same voice that had told him bedtime stories by the fire. “Father?” Cole whispered, his power flickering for a moment as confusion warred with his resolve. Jade pulled away from him, her eyes wide with terror, while Lila scrambled to her feet, her own light flaring to life despite the exhaustion that wracked her body. His father’s lips curved into a bitter smile, the skull on his sword’s hilt seeming to grin in unison. “You called me that once, didn’t you? Before you let me die. Before you took the title that was never meant to be yours.” Cole’s heart lurches. “I d

The agonizing sting of betrayal ripped through Cole’s senses, eclipsing the grief and rage that had fueled his charge up the jagged slopes of Mount Aethel. The world swam before his eyes—vibrant energies of shadow and light blurring into a chaotic mess of pain as the dagger’s hilt pressed against his back. Jade’s whispered apology, devoid of warmth or remorse, echoed in his ears like a death knell, a chilling testament to the darkness that had consumed the woman he’d once called his sister in arms. “Jade?” Cole gasped, his voice a strangled whisper that was swallowed by the howling wind. He stumbled forward, his fingers scraping at the air as he tried to grasp the blade protruding from his torso. But his limbs felt heavy, unresponsive, as if his very life force was seeping into the parched earth beneath his feet. The dark fluid coating the dagger’s edge wasn’t poison—it was something far worse: the essence of the Void, a substance that fed on hope and drained so

Seraphina laughed, her voice a triumphant shriek that resonated through the valley. "Foolish boy," she taunted. "Did you really think you could defeat me? I have been planning this for centuries. Every move you made, every decision you took, was orchestrated by me." She gestured towards Jade, her eyes gleaming with an unholy light. "Jade was always m

The revelation that Lila, seemingly recovered and wielding a weapon of pure light, was still under Seraphina's control slammed into Cole like a physical force. Hope, which had flickered briefly in his chest, was cruelly extinguished, replaced by a despair so profound it threatened to consume him. The image of Lila, her eyes vacant and devoid of the warmth he knew so well, poised to strike with a weapon that could obliterate them all, was a nightmare made real."Lila, no!" Cole cried, his voice cracking with anguish. He took a step towards her, his hand outstretched, desperate to reach her, to break through Seraphina's control. "Please, Lila, fight it! You're stronger than this!"But Lila remained unresponsive, her gaze fixed on Cole, her expression blank. Seraphina chuckled, her voice echoing through the valley, a cruel and mocking sound."Foolish boy," she taunted. "Did you really think you could save her? Lila is mine now, body and soul. She will do as I command, without hesitation,
