Lila's POV

Two beautiful women walked in to greet him. And one of them walked towards me.

“Hi, I'm Holly, one of Vance's concubines.” Her voice sounded so welcoming and genuine.

“I'm Lila. Uhhhh, Vance's new concubine.” I answered with a gloomy look on my face.

“C'mon, it's not that bad here.” She comforted me. Maybe I'm too quick to judge, but I can tell she is a good person. I feel safe in her presence.

“Lila?” The other woman called me over Vance’s shoulder. I turned to look at her, my heart starting to beat when I saw her face.

“Oh no, not again? It's that bitch Jade. I muttered.

“You know her?” Vance asked me

“Yes, I do. Good to see you again, Jade,” I greeted my high school rival politely.

Jade and I studied at the same high school. She hated me and was a constant bully, always looking for ways to publicly humiliate me at every opportunity.

“Good to see you too, Lila!” Jade guffawed with fake cheer infused in her voice.

I know that antic anywhere, her gestures are fake as fuck.

She hugged me tightly, really tight. I started feeling dizzy and was about to withdraw from the hug when she whispered into my ear

“You stupid bitch, how on earth did we cross paths again? You will regret ever coming here.”

Shivers ran down my spine like a racecar on a highway.

“That's enough, I don't have time for this. You shall continue your reunion later.” Vance bellowed, breaking us up. I gasped for air as I watched Jade return to Vance's arms.

Vance commanded Jade to show me to my room. I wanted the ground to open and swallow me at that point. I knew instantly that there would be trouble.

“Follow me,” Jade commanded, smirking mischievously.

This is not going to end well for me.

We climbed up the stairs and walked down the hallway to the end. There was a door at the end of the hallway.

“Here we are.” Jade jeered as she opened the door.

“It's pretty dark, are you…….”

“Ahhh!” I yelled agonizingly.

Jade pushed me down the stairs of the dark room and burst into laughter.

“Haha, just like the good old days. You gullible piece of shit! Does this part of the mansion look like it's for someone like you? Hahaha, your room is in the maid's quarters, the very first one. Peasant!”

That's it, I'm going to rip out her throat.

“Jade you witch!” I shouted, storming up the stairs but Jade was quicker. She shut the door and cackled devilishly. “Help! Help.” I banged my fists on the door, the dust on the door forming a mist on my face.

I sneezed and wheezed till my eyes turned red. I covered my nostrils with my palm and continued banging on the door.

“Are you okay? What are you doing there? That's the basement.” Holly asked as she opened the door.

“Jade happened,” I replied as I struggled to catch my breath.

“But why would she do such a thing?” Holly furrowed her brow in confusion.

“We go way back to high school.” I stammered, still feeling the effects of the dust I had inhaled. I can taste it, yuck!

“Oh, I see. Don't let me bug you with questions. Come, I'll show you your room.” Holly helped me up and we went downstairs.

We headed straight to the maid's quarters, and Jade was right. My room was the first room in the maid's quarters.

“Thank you so much, Holly.” I thanked her for helping out.

*********

A week passed by like a wind blowing through a tree. By this time I had already gotten accustomed to my new life as a maid.

Holly and I also got very close during that period. She became my confidant, turns out I wasn't the only one with so much hatred for Vance.

Holly’s pack got ransacked by Vance and she was forced to be his concubine just so she could survive. It makes me wonder how many more people in this mansion had a hidden hatred for Vance.

“Alpha Vance has requested that everyone be present in the living room to welcome his son, Nolan.” The guard declared.

“Alright, I'll be there in a few minutes,” I dropped the cleaning utensils in the storage unit just below the stairway and joined everyone else in the living room.

In walked a young man with broad shoulders and a nice jawline.

“Nolan”

Vance embraced his son.

“He has some striking resemblance to Leander. I hope he is different from his father.” I sniggered.

“Sorry to disappoint you, Lila, but he is a carbon copy of his father,” Holly replied, leaving me to welcome Nolan.

Nolan had a nice, or should I say perfect, jawline; I couldn't help but stare at him. My mind went blank when he caught me staring at him, he smiled moderately and turned to his father.

My son Nolan just successfully defeated and conquered the Cresentmoon pack. We’ll be having a party tonight to celebrate his victory. Alpha Vance declared.

We started the preparations for the party and it was done after some long hours of working. All that is left is for Vance to signal the commencement.

Several of Vance's friends from different packs came to celebrate with Vance and his son, Nolan.

Vance got the party started with a toast to Nolan's victory, and the merriment began. It got loud really fast, and people were talking simultaneously whilst the music played at a moderate volume in the background.

In no time, I and the other maids began asking what the guests would like to have. We moved from the kitchen to the hall concurrently; the other maids found it easy because most of them could shift, so they used their wolf occasionally.

I started feeling tired and stressed after about an hour. I stopped in the kitchen to catch my breath while the other maids continued working mindlessly.

I returned after gathering some energy from my little rest.

What the hell!

The maids were being touched inappropriately by the male guests and the maids didn't complain or retreat. Some were already riding the guests, half-naked. I felt bile crawl up my throat as I saw Vance and his son doing the same thing.

Disgusting!

“Hey, you! Come get a hold of this.” One of the guests flashed his manhood at me, smacking his lips constantly.

“She's off limits, perverts.” Vance stepped in before anything else transpired…

Cole's POV.The night bled red above the forest, the sky cracked open with the pulse of something ancient and furious. The scent of blood, ash, and fear hung thick in the air, clawing down my throat like smoke. Every heartbeat was a countdown, every breath a war drum. They’d taken her.The Bloodthorn elders had dared to take her.Lila.Her name tore through my mind like a blade, leaving behind the echo of her voice, her warmth, the last flicker of her eyes before they dragged her into the heart of the cursed woods. My wolf howled inside me — wild, relentless — but the forest swallowed the sound whole. The Bloodthorn Pack had always been shadows and whispers, but now they were real, rising from the bones of old kingdoms, twisting the curse that had nearly killed me into a weapon of their own. And she — my mate, my forbidden light — was their key.I could still smell her blood on the wind, faint but enough. It drove me forw

  • The Alpha's concubine mate    Chapter Fifty Nine: The Wolf Who Defied The Moon.

Cole’s POV The forest was dying. Every tree groaned like a wounded beast, their roots tearing from the earth as the curse spread through the soil in veins of silver light. The air burned cold — not the kind that bit the skin, but the kind that devoured it. Cole Bennett ran through it anyway. Branches whipped across his arms, slicing through the fabric of his shirt, but he barely felt them. His lungs ached, his legs screamed, his fever burned like fire under his skin — but he didn’t stop. He couldn’t. He could still smell her. Lila. Her scent — wildflowers and rain — drifted faintly through the chaos, and it was the only thing that kept him sane. She was here, somewhere inside this rotting heart of Nightshade. “Hold on, Lila,” he growled, pushing harder. The forest shifted around him like a living thing, trees twisting into monstrous shapes, roots curling to block his path. He swung his blade in wide, brutal arcs, cutting through the growth, silver sparks flying with e

Lila’s POVWhen the darkness took me, it did not feel like dying. It felt like remembering. The world that unfolded around me was not the forest I’d fallen into, nor the clearing where Cole had called my name. This place was something older — carved out of silence and sorrow, a realm where time did not dare move forward. The ground shimmered like black glass, and above it hung a moon the color of bone, cracked and bleeding faint silver tears. My breath misted in the air, though I wasn’t sure if I was breathing at all. The curse hummed beneath my skin, alive, whispering to me in a thousand voices that were somehow all my own.Welcome home, it said.I turned slowly, my reflection rippling in the glass beneath my feet. But it wasn’t just me staring back. Her — the woman I’d seen in flashes and dreams. The one whose blood birthed this curse centuries ago. Pale hair drifting like smoke, eyes the same molten silver that now haunte

  • The Alpha's concubine mate    Chapter Fifty Seven: Ashes Of The Moon.

The moon hung blood-red over the Nightshade borderlands, its light veiled in clouds that swirled like ash and smoke. Cole Bennett had ridden through three territories without rest. His wolf was exhausted, his body burning with fever, but his will was unyielding. The mark of the curse, a jagged black vein stretching from his collarbone down his chest, pulsed with each heartbeat. He hadn’t told anyone that it had begun to spread to him. Not even Lila. Especially not Lila.Every second counted now.Cole urged his steed forward, galloping into the howling woods where legend said the Moon Healer once lived—an ancient witch who had cured kings and damned beasts alike. But the path was treacherous. The deeper he went, the thicker the mist became, until the world was nothing but silver fog and the echo of his own ragged breathing.“Hold on, Lila,” he muttered, his voice hoarse. “Just hold on for me.”The memory of her last look haunted

The forest no longer sounded like a forest. It breathed.Every tree seemed alive, every gust of wind carried whispers that spoke his name. Cole stumbled through the mist, his heartbeat uneven, his claws half drawn as the fever pulsed beneath his skin. The curse hadn’t killed him yet—but it was feeding.“Lila!” he called into the haze, his voice low, rough, almost human again. The echo bounced off the roots and stones, coming back to him broken.Silence.Then a faint hum—soft, distant, and unmistakably hers.He followed it.The fog clung to his boots, curling around his legs like hands trying to pull him down. He forced himself forward, one breath at a time, one heartbeat at a time. The scent of her still lingered—faint jasmine, cold rain, and something new beneath it: frost and moonlight, the scent of the curse. He hated it. And yet, he couldn’t stop chasing it.Each step took him deeper into what remained of the Nightshade woods. The sky above had turned to silver-gray; no sun, no mo

Lila's POV The first thing I remember is the cold.It wasn’t the kind that prickled the skin—it was deeper, an ache that crawled into the marrow, whispering that warmth was a memory. My eyes fluttered open to darkness. Not the kind that comes with night, but something older, thicker—alive. The air shimmered with it, pulsing faintly, as though it breathed with me.For a long moment, I didn’t know who I was.My name hovered on the edge of consciousness, a taste I couldn’t quite recall. Lila… The sound of it echoed faintly in the back of my mind, but it felt borrowed, as though it belonged to someone else entirely. Then I heard him.“Little wolf,” a voice murmured through the dark, smooth as velvet and edged with danger. “You wander too far into my hollow again.”I spun around, my heart hammering—but there was no one there. Only the sound of my own frantic breathing and the whisper of unseen winds. My body t
