LENA’S POV

The classroom was too quiet for a Thursday morning, everyone sat quietly in the class like an apocalypse happened the previous night. My pen scratched against the notebook as I jotted down keywords from the lecture, trying hard to keep my attention on the board trying my best not to think of Tobren or Arlo.

Professor Deaks was mumbling something about historical timelines, pacing slowly, unaware that my focus was wearing thin.

Then my phone vibrated, twice. I quickly grabbed the phone, squeezing it between my thighs.

Every head in the lecture hall turned to me like I’d just dropped a bomb. I mumbled a quiet apology and silenced the phone.

Fortunately professor Deaks was a mature man unlike the rest, he continued the class, paying no attention to me.

    LENA'S POV We all sat quietly at the front booth of a Chinese restaurant, our eyes saying all that we couldn't. Arlo and I sat together, while Briar and Ivy sat opposite us.
