Chapter 9
Lisa Without care for the people in the room, I rushed towards Mark's unconscious body and lifted him into my arms. Tears gathered around my eyes as I inspected his wounded body. He was still alive, but wasn't doing very good. His body was already cold to the touch, and death would become inevitable if he didn't get medical attention soon. "What did you do? What did you do to him?!" I questioned roughly as my tears began to drop. "The guards found him trying to sneak into the castle. And when he was caught he had the audacity to fight back and soil the name of the Alpha. Normally I would have beheaded him by now, but since he's a friend of yours, it wouldn't be fair to execute him without letting you say your goodbyes." Klaus answered coldly, his voice empty and hollow as he spoke. It was more than clear that he meant every word he said, and he was ready to kill Mark the very moment I let go of him. "Please don't hurt him, he's the only one I have left." I pleaded, and only then did Klaus motion for the guards around to take their leave. He turned towards Damon, and in the next second the man was also out of the dining room. Now it was just the two of us and Mark's unconscious body, and I was immediately engulfed by fear at that realization. "Don't you think it's disrespectful for you to act this way for another man? And in the presence of my subjects as well?" Klaus questioned me with his usual cold demeanor. He was angry, and it wasn't because Mark had tried to sneak into the castle, but because I was treating an almost dead man with more care than I've ever shown him. It wasn't that Klaus craved my compassion, he simply wanted to own me and everything about me. I didn't respond, and my silence only fueled his undying rage. "I'm going to execute him, and you're going to watch. Perhaps you'd come to learn that he's not your mate, and you shouldn't concern yourself with him anymore." He threatened before rising from where he sat. His cold, intimidating aura flooded the room, and with each step he took, I could feel my fears growing even bigger. "Hand him over!" Klaus demanded, but I continued to cling onto Mark's body defensively. He reached out to pull me away, but I fought back incessantly, my teeth and nails clawing fruitlessly at his tough, yet silky skin. "Don't touch him! Don't you dare touch him!" I screamed, but Klaus remained ignorant to my words. He held me aside, and with his second hand pulled Mark's body towards the door. "Stop please..." I finally broke down. My tears worsened, and I was done on my knees with my hands glued together in a pleading pose. "I'll do anything you want, please don't kill him." Klaus paused the moment I said those words, and only then did I realize the game I was playing. I was basically offering up my freedom to him, and now he could do anything he wanted to me. Slowly, his eyes turned towards me, and gently, he allowed Mark's body to slip through his grasp. I didn't move even though every fiber of my body urged me to run forward and embrace Mark a second time. However, this time, I managed to keep my emotions in check. The last thing I wanted to do at the moment was to give Mark any more worth, if Klaus perceived him as a competition in any way, he was definitely going to have Mark killed. "First of all, I want you to act more like royalty, you're no longer a lowly brat from the streets." Klaus remarked as he stared at me with visible disgust. "We don't roll on the floor, nor do we let our emotions spill in public." He tutored, but I wasn't exactly paying attention. All I could think about was Mark, and how to get him medical attention as soon as possible. I could hear his heartbeat receding by the second, but there was really nothing I could do. "I..m sorry," I squeezed out in a whisper. Klaus crouched to meet my eyes, and slowly his thumb found its way to my face. Gently, he caressed my cheeks while he steadily wiped my tears away as well. "It's enough, don't cry anymore, he's going to be fine." My face brightened reflexively to those words, but he didn't pick offense in my display of affection towards Mark this time. He merely turned towards the door, snapped his fingers and ushered two guards in. The two of them lifted Mark from the cold floor, and without another word took him away from the room. "Where are you taking him?" I inquired in a concerned tone, but the guards were already far gone, they couldn't possibly hear my shallow voice. "The infirmary, his wounds are serious, the guards might have gone a bit too far with the beatings." Klaus commented before helping me up to my feet. He was being extra nice today, and I knew it wasn't just because I had completely offered myself to him for Mark's sake, this was definitely something else. "You must be famished, let's eat." He offered before gesturing that I sit. Taking hold of the ladle, he served me the best chicken stew I'd ever tasted. I despised Klaus, but I had nothing against his food. I ate slowly with my mind constantly shifting from the dining room to Mark. Was he really being taken to the infirmary? Or had Klaus ordered for his secret execution? I couldn't get those thoughts out of my head. "You want to see him don't you?" Klaus spoke and I nearly choked on my stew. He had read my mind, and I had no idea how to feel or react at the moment. "Deny it!" My wolf screamed in my head. Klaus was her mate, but she too had developed emotional attachments towards Mark after spending decades with him. "Uh..I was just wondering—" "I'll take you to him." Klaus interjected silkily, and my erratically beating heart finally slowed down a little. "If you want to see him, I'll take you to him. I don't care about that. He can be your friend Lisa, I don't care, but promise one thing, Mark must never be your lover."Chapter 15Icarus I had expected her a lot sooner, but even this timing was perfect for me. Although hurt and full of rage, I could still tell that Maeve was being extremely cautious of me. Klaus had probably warned her to stay away from me, but she had grown too desperate, and had clearly ignored those words of advice. "It's been far too long Maeve, what brings you here?" I inquired while I gestured for her to settle beside me. She obeyed, but didn't exactly sit on the designated spot I had pointed out for her. I knew why she was here, and I knew exactly what she wanted. I had walked into her crying on the day of Klaus and Lisa's mating night, and I had taken my time to exploit her at that moment. She had pushed me away, but that was after I had planted seeds of doubt in her head, and dropped down my address for her. Maeve was in love with Klaus, that much was evident, and she was an obsessive lover. Klaus on the other hand had only agreed to be with Maeve just to foster a good re
Chapter 14Lisa "I....I..it's you!" I squeezed out in a fake enraged tone. "You take me away from the man I love, keep me locked up in this place, and then you ask me who hurt me?"Klaus shrunk back in shock, he hadn't expected my answer, and definitely didn't expect my outburst. He had been genuinely worried for my safety, but for Mark's sake this was the only option I could come up with. Klaus couldn't know that I had gone to visit Mark, he wouldn't take that information very well. And he couldn't know that Mark was the reason I was crying, that would only make things worse. "Push me away all you want, you still can't change the fact that you're my mate, and I'm yours!" Klaus shot back at me. "When are you going to accept reality and move on?!" He yelled before turning away from my teary eyes. At first I assumed it was a bloodstain, but after close observation, I finally managed to confirm that it was indeed lipstick. It was stuck just behind the collar of his shirt and I was cer
Chapter 13Lisa The moment Klaus left the room, I immediately jumped down from the bed and hurried to the clinic once more. I just couldn't sit aside while Mark was busy fighting for his life. With the help of some guards, I was able to find my way to the clinic. And the moment I arrived, I raced straight to Mark's room without asking for the nurse's permission. Mark was awake when I arrived, and unlike before, he wasn't coated in bandages and syringes. His healing speed had regained its output, and most of the injuries were already gone. I had a bright smile on my face as I approached his bed, but the same couldn't be said for Mark. At first he pretended like he hadn't seen me enter the room, and when he could no longer ignore my presence, he turned his face away from me. "Don't do that Mark, we both know I didn't have a choice." I pleaded with him, but he wasn't exactly listening."What are you doing here then, if you didn't have a choice? You shut me down for him! You've clearly
Chapter 12Klaus After my discussion with Lisa had ended, I took her back to the room, and after showing her the most affection I could, left the room for the study. Since her arrival I had been working from home, and it hadn't exactly been easy. Even though I didn't exactly care for her, I didn't want to leave my newly wedded bride for work just days after our wedding. She wasn't fully accustomed to the place, and with Maeve roaming the castle, I just couldn't leave her alone just yet. "Any recent developments?" I inquired from Damon as I settled behind one of the tables. Damon had already gotten to work the moment I dismissed him from the dining table. At the moment he was the one running everything about the company, and he was doing a terrific job. "Not much, except for the fact that we might lose a valuable investment if you don't return to work soon. Zenith Cooperation refused to sign the papers, they want a face to face meeting with the CEO before they can further the contra
Chapter 11Lisa I sat beside Klaus, and the only reason why I hadn't been scolded and kicked out was merely because Klaus was seated by my side. To these men, my status as the Alpha's bride meant nothing to them. All they could see when they looked at me was an omega who wasn't worth anything, and that was evident in their eyes. To them I was nothing more than one of the hungry ladies that roamed the streets, I had only gotten lucky, and luck didn't matter to them one bit. All five of the elders before me had smiles on their faces, but their happiness had nothing to do with me. They were merely happy that Klaus had found his mate, and that they wouldn't have to worry about getting disbanded and losing their worth to Icarus. "We've gotten the mating ceremony done, is she with child yet?" One of the elders asked, his greedy eyes wide with expectations. "Not yet, we've decided to take things slow for now. Lisa is not yet accustomed to this type of life yet." Klaus answered before rea
Chapter 10KlausI stared at her in anticipation for a reply. It was a difficult thing to ask of her, but it was necessary for my plan to work out. It would be impossible for her to love me if she remained romantically attached to someone else. I wanted to be the main focus of her love life, and for that to work, it was necessary that the idea of Mark becoming her lover in the distant future was completely vanquished."Do you promise that Lisa? You can't love him, nor can you accept his love. We're married now, we should focus on each other." I urged, and only then did she manage to speak. "What about Maeve? Will you continue to love her?" Her voice was a whisper, yet it was heavy with emotions. I hadn't expected her to throw that question at me, yet I was happy she did. I might be playing a game with her at the moment, but it wouldn't be fun if she wasn't playing along. I started my reply with a simple shake of the head. "Now that we're together, Maeve is no longer my lover." I cla

Chapter 8Lisa I woke up feeling cozier than usual. A familiar warmth wrapped around my body, and all I could do was let myself drown in its comfort. However, just as I was about to close my eyes a second time, I suddenly became aware of a strong arm draped protectively around me. Turning cautiously, I found herself face to face with Klaus. He was seraphic as always, even in his sleep. I took a minute to admire every arc of his face, before finally returning to reality. Frantically, I raced out of bed, and only then did Klaus's eyes open lazily. "What did you do to me?!" I yelled out as soon as he sat upright on the bed. With a look of shock, I inspected myself thoroughly, and after two minutes of silence and skepticism, I finally came to conclude that he hadn't touched me. "What were you thinking? That I took advantage of you in your sleep?" Klaus asked with an arched brow, a look of disgust etched on every corner of his handsome face. It was wrong for me to jump to conclusions t
Chapter 7KlausLisa pushed back against me anytime I attempted to get closer. I could smell her fear, yet her determination to keep me away prevailed over her fear of me. She wasn't as weak as I had made her out to be, and a part of me was proud of her. I had watched her confrontation with Maeve from the window and had sent Rudolph to fetch her. I expected her to sit still and take Maeve's bullying, but she had actually fought back, and for that brief moment I felt proud of my mate for the first time. "I won't let you do what you want with me! Even if you go on with this, I'll keep killing your babies until the day I die!" She yelled out in a shaky tone, and only then did I pull away from the unrequited embrace. I glared at her with rage in my eyes. Did she just threaten to kill my children? Maybe I had heard wrongly, surely she hadn't developed the guts to threaten the Alpha. "What did you just say?" I questioned in a calm, yet serious tone. I wanted to make sure I had heard her
