Chapter 10

Klaus

I stared at her in anticipation for a reply. It was a difficult thing to ask of her, but it was necessary for my plan to work out. It would be impossible for her to love me if she remained romantically attached to someone else. I wanted to be the main focus of her love life, and for that to work, it was necessary that the idea of Mark becoming her lover in the distant future was completely vanquished.

"Do you promise that Lisa? You can't love him, nor can you accept his love. We're married now, we should focus on each other." I urged, and only then did she manage to speak.

"What about Maeve? Will you continue to love her?" Her voice was a whisper, yet it was heavy with emotions. I hadn't expected her to throw that question at me, yet I was happy she did. I might be playing a game with her at the moment, but it wouldn't be fun if she wasn't playing along.

I started my reply with a simple shake of the head. "Now that we're together, Maeve is no longer my lover." I clarified, yet Lisa wasn't satisfied one bit.

"When is she leaving? Or is she going to keep staying around?" She asked, and I immediately arched a brow and threw the same question back at her.

"Do you want Mark out of the castle? Or do you want him around?" Her once fierce eyes immediately softened after my question. She wanted Mark around, and while I didn't want that one bit, Damon had suggested that it was probably the nicest thing I could do in order to get Lisa's approval. The last thing I wanted was for my wife's ex lover to roam the corridors of my home. However, in order to reach my goals, I understood that sacrifices must be made.

Lisa on the other hand wasn't also satisfied with the fact that I wasn't kicking Maeve away immediately. It wasn't because she was scared of losing me to Maeve or anything related to that, she just didn't want to get bullied by Maeve anymore. After the confrontation last night, I could tell that she was being cautious of Maeve's next move, and I really couldn't blame her for it.

Although Maeve's position in my life was no longer relevant, I really couldn't get rid of her just yet. Her father was the Alpha of a neighboring pack, and treating his daughter harshly might cause some trouble for the both of us. I knew my relationship with Maeve would have to be kept on hold in order for me to fully convince Lisa that she could trust me. And while that seemed easy, Maeve wouldn't make it easy for any of us.

"So what do you say? Do you still want to see Mark?" I repeated, and only then did she nod her head to answer. I flashed her an inquisitive look, but a few seconds of glaring at her finally stuck out my hand for her to take. She was skeptical at first, but after a second of consideration, she finally placed her hand in mine and forced up a smile.

I led the way towards the clinic, and we walked in utter silence. Although I tried to liven up the mood by smiling at her at different intervals, that simply didn't outweigh the gloomy expression on Lisa's face. It was clear she was thinking about the deal she'd gotten into with me, and it was more than evident on her face that she was regretting every second of it.

As we approached the castle clinic, I couldn't shake the feeling of apprehension gnawing at me. Lisa's unease grew, and I couldn't help but keep a keen eye on her as we walked through the clinic entrance. I wanted to be certain that she was capable of keeping her emotions in check, and so far she wasn't doing a good job at that. I honestly didn't want to kill Mark off, he was pivotal in the plans I had. With him around, it would be a lot easier to blackmail Lisa into doing my bidding. However, I couldn't also sit around and watch another man play with my wife—the Alpha's wife.

Mark lay motionless, his face pale against the crisp white sheets. I was certain he'd be shocked to see Lisa's figure seated by his side, and I really wanted to see his first reaction. As if on cue, Mark's eyes flickered open, and the moment they caught sight of me, he began to curse at me.

"I don't care if you're the Alpha, I won't let you treat Lisa like an animal! I won't allow her to waste in the arms of a brat!"

"Mark, calm do" Lisa said, trying to keep her voice steady despite the turmoil swirling inside her "He's the reason you're still alive."

But Mark was not one to be easily pacified. His frustration boiled over, and he continued to berate me, his words a continuous rain of insults. I could feel my anger steadily growing by the second. I tried to keep myself calm, but getting berated by a nobody like Mark was not something I could handle very well. My fists tightened fiercely, and just as I was about to walk forward and put Mark back to sleep, Lisa spoke up.

"Enough, Mark," she said, her voice firm and unwavering. "You have no right to speak to him like that."

Mark's mouth fell open in shock, his anger momentarily forgotten as he stared at Lisa in disbelief. I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride at her strength, at the way she stood up for me without hesitation. I knew she was doing it to keep Mark safe, but I was still proud of the progress we'd made in such little time.

"He saved your life, you should have been persecuted for your actions, the least you can do is be appreciative for still keeping your life."

Mark remained stunned, but even as Mark's outburst subsided, I still couldn't shake the feeling of anger that lingered in me. I took a deep breath to calm myself down before finally turning towards Lisa.

"It seems he's not stable enough to handle visits for now. We'll return when he's psychologically fit to welcome visitors."

Lisa nodded in agreement to my words, and with a hung face turned towards the exit. Mark remained speechless, but it was probably because he had reopened his wounds and couldn't push himself any further.

With a sardonic smile on my face, I turned towards Mark with satisfaction in my eyes.

"Get well soon, Mark, we have a lot of things to do in the future."

Chapter 15Icarus I had expected her a lot sooner, but even this timing was perfect for me. Although hurt and full of rage, I could still tell that Maeve was being extremely cautious of me. Klaus had probably warned her to stay away from me, but she had grown too desperate, and had clearly ignored those words of advice. "It's been far too long Maeve, what brings you here?" I inquired while I gestured for her to settle beside me. She obeyed, but didn't exactly sit on the designated spot I had pointed out for her. I knew why she was here, and I knew exactly what she wanted. I had walked into her crying on the day of Klaus and Lisa's mating night, and I had taken my time to exploit her at that moment. She had pushed me away, but that was after I had planted seeds of doubt in her head, and dropped down my address for her. Maeve was in love with Klaus, that much was evident, and she was an obsessive lover. Klaus on the other hand had only agreed to be with Maeve just to foster a good re

Chapter 14Lisa "I....I..it's you!" I squeezed out in a fake enraged tone. "You take me away from the man I love, keep me locked up in this place, and then you ask me who hurt me?"Klaus shrunk back in shock, he hadn't expected my answer, and definitely didn't expect my outburst. He had been genuinely worried for my safety, but for Mark's sake this was the only option I could come up with. Klaus couldn't know that I had gone to visit Mark, he wouldn't take that information very well. And he couldn't know that Mark was the reason I was crying, that would only make things worse. "Push me away all you want, you still can't change the fact that you're my mate, and I'm yours!" Klaus shot back at me. "When are you going to accept reality and move on?!" He yelled before turning away from my teary eyes. At first I assumed it was a bloodstain, but after close observation, I finally managed to confirm that it was indeed lipstick. It was stuck just behind the collar of his shirt and I was cer

Chapter 13Lisa The moment Klaus left the room, I immediately jumped down from the bed and hurried to the clinic once more. I just couldn't sit aside while Mark was busy fighting for his life. With the help of some guards, I was able to find my way to the clinic. And the moment I arrived, I raced straight to Mark's room without asking for the nurse's permission. Mark was awake when I arrived, and unlike before, he wasn't coated in bandages and syringes. His healing speed had regained its output, and most of the injuries were already gone. I had a bright smile on my face as I approached his bed, but the same couldn't be said for Mark. At first he pretended like he hadn't seen me enter the room, and when he could no longer ignore my presence, he turned his face away from me. "Don't do that Mark, we both know I didn't have a choice." I pleaded with him, but he wasn't exactly listening."What are you doing here then, if you didn't have a choice? You shut me down for him! You've clearly

Chapter 12Klaus After my discussion with Lisa had ended, I took her back to the room, and after showing her the most affection I could, left the room for the study. Since her arrival I had been working from home, and it hadn't exactly been easy. Even though I didn't exactly care for her, I didn't want to leave my newly wedded bride for work just days after our wedding. She wasn't fully accustomed to the place, and with Maeve roaming the castle, I just couldn't leave her alone just yet. "Any recent developments?" I inquired from Damon as I settled behind one of the tables. Damon had already gotten to work the moment I dismissed him from the dining table. At the moment he was the one running everything about the company, and he was doing a terrific job. "Not much, except for the fact that we might lose a valuable investment if you don't return to work soon. Zenith Cooperation refused to sign the papers, they want a face to face meeting with the CEO before they can further the contra

  • The Alpha’s secret baby   Chapter 11

Chapter 11Lisa I sat beside Klaus, and the only reason why I hadn't been scolded and kicked out was merely because Klaus was seated by my side. To these men, my status as the Alpha's bride meant nothing to them. All they could see when they looked at me was an omega who wasn't worth anything, and that was evident in their eyes. To them I was nothing more than one of the hungry ladies that roamed the streets, I had only gotten lucky, and luck didn't matter to them one bit. All five of the elders before me had smiles on their faces, but their happiness had nothing to do with me. They were merely happy that Klaus had found his mate, and that they wouldn't have to worry about getting disbanded and losing their worth to Icarus. "We've gotten the mating ceremony done, is she with child yet?" One of the elders asked, his greedy eyes wide with expectations. "Not yet, we've decided to take things slow for now. Lisa is not yet accustomed to this type of life yet." Klaus answered before rea

Chapter 9LisaWithout care for the people in the room, I rushed towards Mark's unconscious body and lifted him into my arms. Tears gathered around my eyes as I inspected his wounded body. He was still alive, but wasn't doing very good. His body was already cold to the touch, and death would become inevitable if he didn't get medical attention soon. "What did you do? What did you do to him?!" I questioned roughly as my tears began to drop. "The guards found him trying to sneak into the castle. And when he was caught he had the audacity to fight back and soil the name of the Alpha. Normally I would have beheaded him by now, but since he's a friend of yours, it wouldn't be fair to execute him without letting you say your goodbyes." Klaus answered coldly, his voice empty and hollow as he spoke. It was more than clear that he meant every word he said, and he was ready to kill Mark the very moment I let go of him. "Please don't hurt him, he's the only one I have left." I pleaded, and on

Chapter 8Lisa I woke up feeling cozier than usual. A familiar warmth wrapped around my body, and all I could do was let myself drown in its comfort. However, just as I was about to close my eyes a second time, I suddenly became aware of a strong arm draped protectively around me. Turning cautiously, I found herself face to face with Klaus. He was seraphic as always, even in his sleep. I took a minute to admire every arc of his face, before finally returning to reality. Frantically, I raced out of bed, and only then did Klaus's eyes open lazily. "What did you do to me?!" I yelled out as soon as he sat upright on the bed. With a look of shock, I inspected myself thoroughly, and after two minutes of silence and skepticism, I finally came to conclude that he hadn't touched me. "What were you thinking? That I took advantage of you in your sleep?" Klaus asked with an arched brow, a look of disgust etched on every corner of his handsome face. It was wrong for me to jump to conclusions t

  • The Alpha’s secret baby   Chapter 7

Chapter 7KlausLisa pushed back against me anytime I attempted to get closer. I could smell her fear, yet her determination to keep me away prevailed over her fear of me. She wasn't as weak as I had made her out to be, and a part of me was proud of her. I had watched her confrontation with Maeve from the window and had sent Rudolph to fetch her. I expected her to sit still and take Maeve's bullying, but she had actually fought back, and for that brief moment I felt proud of my mate for the first time. "I won't let you do what you want with me! Even if you go on with this, I'll keep killing your babies until the day I die!" She yelled out in a shaky tone, and only then did I pull away from the unrequited embrace. I glared at her with rage in my eyes. Did she just threaten to kill my children? Maybe I had heard wrongly, surely she hadn't developed the guts to threaten the Alpha. "What did you just say?" I questioned in a calm, yet serious tone. I wanted to make sure I had heard her
