Rochelle

A sadistic laugh left my throat as I wiped furiously at my wet cheeks, “how stupid am I anyway.”   I threw my backpack on my bed as tears continued to fall, looking at my spread with the lilies printed on it.  “I should burn you,” glaring at the now offensive flower pattern.

I focused on the pictures that covered my dressers mirror, I pulled them off one by one.  Each one, he smiled posing with me, my heart broke for each cherished moment of my life that he had been in, “LIES,” I screamed to the empty room.  My tiny trash bin filled with captured memories that left a hole in my heart of where they once lived, “stupid, stupid girl, why did you think for one minute he cared or ever would.”  I gazed at my reflection, my eyes and heart full of anguish as my soul was ripped out of me.  My thoughts filled with all the years of my own foolishness, my naivety, my belief in love.  This is the end, I need to walk away and never look back.

My phone rang, I grabbed it, “Linda,” my voice cracked.

“Come open the front door,” she whispered.

I opened the door.  Linda’s arms wrapped around me, “no, don’t cry, he’s not worth your tears, not anymore.”

I pushed her off me, “you’re right.”  I slammed the door, “it’s too obvious but why throw his relationship with Monica in my face.”  I shook my head, anger finally taking over, “didn’t I deserve an explanation, at least tell me his intentions.”  I huffed, “it’s fine, I don’t really care anymore, it’s just a stupid crush and once I’m…”

The sound of the attack alarm went off and my heart stopped beating for a second.  We secured all the windows and locked ourselves in the bathroom.  We both sat inside the tub holding each other, neither of us have our wolves, so we need to hide till this is all over.  I heard the front door slam shut and my mother’s voice called out as the knob on the bathroom door jiggled.  I jumped out and opened it for her to enter, she hugged me to her, “it’s fine, our warrior’s will protect us,” her hand smoothed my hair down.

Linda’s voice was shaky as she spoke on her phone, “Mom, I’m safe, I’m at Rochelle’s house…”

Hot searing pain radiated in my heart, as my mother’s anguished scream echoed off the walls of the small space, both of us fell to our knees, clutching our chests.  Linda’s arms wrap around me from behind, her head falling on top of mine, her voice was soft and sincere, “I’m so sorry.”

My arms reached around my mom’s waist, my head in her chest as I sobbed, “daddy’s really gone.”   My mother’s body went stiff as she pushed me off her, stood and walked out of the bathroom.  I scurried off the floor to follow her as she headed towards the front door, sobbing, “Mom, where are you going, stop.”  My hand grabbed her wrist, “you can’t go out there, the rogues.”

She spun as tears fell from her eyes, “you don’t understand, maybe I can, I can…”  I flung myself at her, wrapping my arms around her frame, clinging to her so she wouldn’t walk out the door.

“I can’t lose you too, Mom, not to these rogues, I won’t allow it, no, daddy, he wouldn’t want it.”  Linda moved to her side and we both guided her to the sofa in the living room, as we sat next to her.

The room was silent, but the pressure of what had happened was suffocating.  I don’t know when Linda had left, but soon she set cups of hot tea in front of both of us, “here you go, my mom’s on her way,” she spoke softly.

Curled up in my dad’s chair, I watched as Luna Avery and Mama Jenny, Linda’s mom, sat on both sides of my mother, talking softly and giving their condolences.  I sniffed his chair, and memories ran through my mind, how he’d pick me up as a small pup and throw me in the air, just to hear me giggle.  All the time he helped me train though I was so small and uncoordinated, he never complained and always encouraged me that I could do whatever I put my mind to.

I stood to go to my room but a knock at the door had me turn.  I pulled it open, and Remington stood there holding a single lily.  My eyes narrowed at the flower and then up to his face, “what do you want,” I said more calmly than I wanted to.

His frame blocked the doorway as he extending the flower to me, “I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

I took a step back, my voice harsh, “why care all of a sudden.”

He took another step closer, “don’t act like that, Roe, we’ve been friends forever, of course I care, I’ll always care.”

My heart fluttered and I shut it down as Monica’s voice came from behind him, “Roach, I’m sorry your father died.”

My lips parted in shock, pure fury ignited, “get out, don’t ever come back here.”  I grabbed the flower and threw it at his face, “take her with you and leave.”  I spun and ran down the hallway, slamming my door as hard as I could.  I threw myself on my bed as my heart shattered for the millionth time today, the loss of my father, the man that always protected all of us was gone and nothing in this world could ever change that.

Standing at the pyre as Alpha Maxwell spoke of my father’s bravery, his achievement of being the top warrior, a devoted mate and father had me numb.  Squeezing Mom’s hand as we stood watching my father’s final farewell.  My heart hollow with his absence, a void no one could ever fill.  Linda stood on the other side of me and her words caught me off guard, “don’t even think about speaking, I’ll kill you the second I get my wolf,” she sneered in a whisper.

My head turned towards her and Monica stood there with a smug smirk on her face, “I just wanted to make sure Roach was okay, you know I’ll be Luna one day, I need the practice.”  Remington appeared to her side, taking her by the elbow, “Monica, come with me, now.”

She fluttered her lashes at him, “of course, Rem,” she looked at me with a smug smirk as she turned flipping her golden blonde hair over her shoulder, “I’m hungry, maybe barbeque would be nice tonight,” she giggled as he led her away.

  • The Alphas Little Warrior   Chapter 27 - Patrolling for Intruders

Rochelle The intruder moved swiftly out of the way, landing a hard blow to my rib cage before he moved past me. I sucked in as much air as I could as I spun towards the figure and let out a growl, “fucker your all mine,” I lunged again and this time my boot landed on his knee, his stance faltered but he didn’t go down. I backed up, my eyes darting all around me and there was no one to help. My jaw clenched tightly as all my feeling now grouped together inside my heart, the overwhelming sadness, the amount of loss I’d already suffered, the rage built until I lunged towards my attacker with pure fury burning within me and my fist landed on his jaw. My foot kicked him in the solar plexus, his body bent forward, and I spun as the heal of my boot landed between his shoulders. He fell to the forest floor I took out my cuffs and placed them on him. I spun and continued patrolling, catching up with my squad I growled, “fuck all you assholes, you left me back there, I won’t forget your

RochelleMy only thought was damn, he’s so...my wolf decided to finish my thought, “gorgeous, fuckable, droolworthy and not mated.”I growled to her response, “that’s not what I was going to say, unapproachable, distant, aloof, but yea he is good looking.” I opened the door to my room and took a quick shower, dressed and thought about going to the garden, it’s so stifling just sitting in this room and not being able to talk to the other recruits. I picked it up the letter and my heart clenched as I recognized the handwriting. Why is he writing to me now, is it an invitation to the fucking Luna’s ceremony? Is he gloating about how he has the perfect Luna by his side? I threw the letter on my side table and walked to the door and slowly opened it. I headed towards the garden door and before I could step through the opening, his gruff voice came from behind me, “going somewhere?”I spun, “yes, sir, if it’s okay, I just need a bit of air.”His eyes squinted, “okay, but don’t make a

  • The Alphas Little Warrior   Chapter 25 - Lies and Deceit

RemingtonAfter seeing the flicker of jealousy in Monica’s eyes, it dawned on me, if I can’t be myself, speak freely in my own home and she refuses to leave, then I’ll have too. Walking into my father’s office and my mother being there was a plus. She politely tried to leave, but I grabbed her hand smiling, “mom, stay I have something I’d like to speak about with both my parents.”She sat down with a look of concern in her eyes, “of course, son, what’s wrong?”I sat back in the chair next to her and smiled, “I need to move out, I’ll take one of the smaller homes that is vacant, or an apartment, but it’s not comfortable right now here and if I want to have a life with Rochelle, it’s impossible for her to be here with me, not with Monica stalking around.”The tension in the room was palpable as both my parents looked at on another my father finally spoke, “this has turned out to be a situation that seems to be tearing our family apart in more ways than one.” His voice was tinged with

  • The Alphas Little Warrior   Chapter 24 - Alpha's Mercy

RochelleAlpha Christen's eyes went from mine to all around me, “you hear that squad, the squad member you tried to humiliate, and shame is asking mercy for you and is more than willing to accept her punishment for her own actions.” He began pacing, “squad you need to thank Recruit Rochelle for asking for your shoes to be returned to you during training, however I’ll add one better, if you all join in her punishment without any ill feelings towards her, I’ll give you your clothing back as well, your decision.”His voice boomed out, “40 miles, then sparing today, move out.” I moved forward and the thud of the others wearing boots gave my heart a bit of a jolt. I did have to hold back the giggles of them still in underwear with boots on, it did look comical, but I felt the warm swell of pride in my chest. I truly didn’t believe that Alpha Christen would agree to have mercy, especially after he nearly choked me this morning, but I wanted to try. Running 40 miles is nothing at this p

  • The Alphas Little Warrior   Chapter 23 - How to win her back

RemingtonMy mother walked into the garden and stared at me from the doorway, shaking her head and then stepped out walking over to me muttering under her breath, “why didn’t you come to me, I’m sure your father told too, but did you listen,” she sat down on the bench in front of me. Her hand clasped in her lap, staring into my eyes, “son, if this girl, Rochelle, means so much to you why haven’t you done the simplest of things to catch her attention, tiny gestures mean the world to any female.” I pushed off the tree and sat down next to her, “what do you mean, I’ve tried and every time I tried it never worked out as I planned it too, somehow it was always taken away and the gesture never got to her, but not from lack of me trying to do it for her.”She chuckled, “so you have sent her heart written love letters, sent her flowers, sent her tokens of your affections and admiration, they do have people who deliver these types of mementos you are aware of that correct?”My own hand hit m

  • The Alphas Little Warrior   Chapter 22 - Lilly

RochelleA lump formed in my throat, Lilly was her name, my favorite flower, my favorite scent was that of a lily. This poor little pup, so small with so much devasting pain already in her little life. I had to do something to relieve her of some of it. A smile curved on her lips, and I shook my head, “no little one, I’m not your momma, I’m so very sorry.” Her eyes that were just filled with joy now filled again quickly with pain as she blinked back her tears, “who are you then, momma needs to come home.” I knew I shouldn’t have come in here, I’m going to be in so much trouble, but this little one’s pain is killing me inside.Kneeling at the side of her bed I brushed her beautiful blonde curls off her face, “my name is Rochelle and I’m one of the recruits your daddy is training, I’m sorry if I scared you.”She nodded, “oh, I thought maybe he found me a momma, he keeps saying he will one day, but he hasn’t,” her tiny bottom lip pouted out and tears fell again from her eyes, “he sa
