Chapter Ten

Keisha’s Pov

I wanted to tell you but I was so scared and I knew if I told you, you’d want to go there and fight and I’m not ready yet to face any of them. I don’t think I’m strong yet but I know I will one day. I have lots of questions to ask, why did he treat me that way, did my parents hurt them or do something to them? Lots of questions just keep popping in my head but I’m not ready yet.

I looked down, still feeling ashamed for not speaking up earlier. Adrian put his hand underneath my chin and lifted my face up to his. He looked at me with eyes full of love and understanding. "Keisha, you didn't have to be scared. You are safe now and I will always protect you," he said softly.

I looked at Adrian and felt a sense of comfort and safety that I had never felt before. I knew that Adrian was the one for me. He had saved me from a life of misery, and had shown me that there was love and happiness in the world.
