CHAPTER 5

DURING breaktime, I ordered clothes for Cyrille and I to wear to Leo's party. I didn't have fancy dresses made by famous stylists anymore because Cyrille and I would only wear them once.

“You're not gonna buy?” Doc Emman asked me.

He must have gotten used to me always buying food during break time so he asked me. I don't want to assume because I also know that I will be hurt in the end.

"No, Doc." I answered lightly without looking at him.

He frowned at me and casually touched my forehead, checking to see if I have a fever.

"You're not even sick," he said with a shrug.

I smiled lightly and turned my eyes again to the papers that the patients gave me which were from the triage.

"Your next patient is Mrs. Bern. Her appointment is set later at 2:00 PM.” I said with a forced smile.

"Alright," he said then gently patted me on the shoulder and immediately left.

When he left, I breathed a sigh of relief. I really want to talk to him but I've been holding back for some unknown reason.

Maybe I'll just talk to him tomorrow when the jealousy I feel is already gone.

I just focused on playing games on my cellphone. It wasn't long before I was playing when my eyes turned to the one who landed Pocari on my table. I immediately looked to see who it was and was surprised to find out that it was Doc Emman.

"Drink some Pocari and stay hydrated." He said then entered the innermost part of his clinic.

I bit my lip and stared for a long time at the Pocari that Doc Emman gave me. I immediately took a picture of the drink Doc Emman gave me and posted it on my social media account.

(Thank you, Doc!)

After posting it on my My day I suddenly remembered the money that I borrowed from Doc Emman. I quickly knocked on his door and opened it when he gave me permission to go inside.

"Doc, the money I borrowed from the mall the other day—"

I had not finished what I had to say when Doc Emman suddenly cut me off. "I'm not yet asking you to pay me." He said rudely.

Earlier, he just gave me Pocari and now he's scolding me?! I often really can't catch Doc Emman's mood. Sometimes he's kind, often grumpy. How can I treat him well when he himself makes the way for us to have a misunderstanding?

"I guess, I'll talk to you next time. Thank you, Doc.” I uttered then left him.

I sat down and stared at the Pocari he gave me. I don't know if I should drink what he gave me or just throw it in the trash. I am confused by Doc Emman's behavior. Sometimes, he's kind, grumpy, generous, considerate, and then eventually becomes grumpy again.

When my shift ended, I immediately fixed my table then knocked on the sliding door of Doc's clinic and opened it.

He was busy with his laptop when I entered. Maybe he's doing something important so he's focused on that.

"Doc, I'll go first. Thank you!" I said when I went outside his clinic.

I didn't wait for him to speak because until now I was confused and I still couldn't catch his mood or attitude.

When I got home Cyrille was supposed to greet me right away but I didn't let her come to me because I had to clean my body first before I hugged her. I wasn't able to clean my body before I left because Doc Emman took over my mind.

I went up to my room and did what I had to do before I went downstairs and kissed my sister on the forehead.

"Sister! I loved the gown you bought me!” Cyrille said happily.

"Good to hear that you liked it," I replied with a smile then looked around my eyes.

"Where's Nanny Puring?" I asked her.

"She's in the kitchen, Sister. They are preparing our dinner with our other maids." Cyrille said.

Well, since Mommy and Daddy aren't here, I let the maids eat here at the table with us. Mommy is the only one who is fussy. If you ask me, I would rather be with the maids than see them eating in the kitchen.

I couldn't bear to see them eating there while we were eating in the dining area. We are people just like them so as much as possible I want to treat them as they treat our family.

When we finished eating, we immediately thanked the housekeepers and even Nanny Puring. I said goodbye to them and decided to go up to the second floor. Cyrille and I said goodbye to each other before entering our own rooms.

I checked my phone but no one notified me, which surprised me. But when I checked that my WiFi was not connected to our internet that's the time when I realized why my phone was not notifying me. As soon as I opened it, my notifications appeared but my eyes focused more on the person who replied to my My Day on my social media account. None other than Doc Emman.

(I was about to give you something but you suddenly left. Are you still not feeling well?)

He replied.
