Aria pov

I sat curled up on my bed in the Apex penthouse, a warm mug of tea cradled in my hands. The steam rose in soft swirls, laced with something calming that Thane had insisted would help. He sat beside me—close, but not too close—watching quietly as I sipped.

I was still shaken. Not visibly, maybe, but inside… everything was trembling.

I hadn’t said a word since we got back. And thankfully, neither had he.

It wasn’t something I could talk about.

As if he could read my mind, Thane’s voice came gently. “You don’t have to say anything, Aria. I’m just… glad you’re safe.”

The knot in my chest loosened.

I nodded and whispered, “Thanks.”

And I meant it.

Even though the weight still sat heavy on my shoulders, even though my heart still stuttered every time I remembered the darkness and that sickening hum of the elevator…

There was something about being next to Thane that didn’t make me feel quite so alone.

Still, I couldn’t help but glance sideways at him, curiosity peeking th

  • The Apex's hidden mate   The school has evil people in disguise

Aria’s POV The door swung open with a slight creak, and I braced myself for the worst. But what I saw… stopped me cold. There was no blood. No intruder. No broken furniture. Just Quin. Quin—sitting cross-legged on a plush cream couch, covering half her body with a blanket, looking healthier than I’d ever seen her, her hair tied back in a neat braid, her face calm and… smiling. The loud gunshots and screaming? Blasting from a massive flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. I blinked, trying to register the sight. “What the—?” Quin turned her head toward me, eyes lighting up with recognition. “Welcome,” she said, voice soft but steady. My jaw dropped. “You… you can talk?” She gave a little nod, grinning. “Yeah. My voice came back this morning.” I let out a long breath, relief and disbelief mixing into something strange and warm in my chest. “That’s amazing,” I said, a real smile tugging at my lips. Then my eyes widened. “Wait. Eliza.” I spun on my heel and bolted back down the s

  • The Apex's hidden mate   Are you stupid to run to the sound of a gunshot?

Aria’s POV I smiled faintly, choosing my words with care. “Well… I’m flattered. It’s a pleasure, really. An opportunity like this doesn’t come often.” Selena’s grin widened just enough to show satisfaction—but not sincerity. “Of course. I knew you’d see the value. There’s a sports event coming up,” she said, brushing invisible lint off her sleeve. “You should come. Watch how the Alphas move—how perfectly in sync they are. It’s something worth witnessing.” She said it like I’d be lucky just to breathe the same air as them. Around us, I could feel the shift in the room—the weight of curious eyes and startled gasps settling over every corner. Eliza’s brows were halfway to her hairline, her mouth parting like she couldn’t believe what she’d heard. The murmurs were immediate. “Is this for real?” “Selena never invites anyone outside her circle.” “She must be up to something…” “I’d kill for that invitation.” “…Poor girl’s being set up.” Selena stood smoothly, brushing back a stran

  • The Apex's hidden mate   Selena, what do you want from an omega

Aria’s POV I stirred my drink slowly, watching the way the light from the cafeteria ceiling bounced off the rim of the cup. My mind hadn’t been on class all morning. Not even for a second. I thought for sure they would say something. That one of them—Kaid most likely—would pin me with that cold glare and demand why I was acting like I didn’t know. Or that Ryker would make one of his infuriatingly smug comments about the dream. Or Caspian, laughing like it was some sort of thrilling joke. Or even Thane… saying something quiet and gentle that would make me feel seen in the most inconvenient way. But none of that happened. They’d acted like nothing had changed. Like the dream didn’t exist. Like I hadn’t practically melted into Thane’s arms the night before in the elevator, sobbing like a child. Then I got dressed, packed my bag, and left for school like nothing happened. I wasn’t sure if I was relieved… or disappointed. Eliza's voice broke through my fog. “You’ve been quiet all mor

  • The Apex's hidden mate   Her pain is ours

Thane’s POV I walked through the hospital doors first, my hands tucked into the pockets of my coat as the cool air of the building met my skin. The scent of antiseptic and muted anxiety hung in the air. I hated hospitals. I’d already messaged Aria earlier—told her Quin had finally woken up. This was our one real shot at getting information. If Quin remembered anything about the Skulls Syndicate, we could finally gain some ground. A clue, a name, a base of operation—something. But even as I tried to keep my thoughts focused on the mission, I could feel the shift in the air between my brothers. Especially when Ryker broke the silence. “So… are we going to keep pretending or what?” I turned toward him, brows lifting slightly. “Pretending?” “That we all didn’t have the most erotic dream last night? No one wants to say anything.” “Since we all had the dream, does it mean she also had it?” Caspian asked. It wasn’t farfetched, since recalling my encounter with Aria made me believe s

  • The Apex's hidden mate   Trapped in a dark place, please let me out

Aria’s POV I parked my bike so fast the tires screeched. I burst through the hospital’s automatic doors, breathing heavy as I rushed to the front desk. The sterile scent of disinfectant barely registered through the adrenaline pounding in my ears. “I came here for Quin.”” I asked, voice clipped and urgent. The nurse behind the counter blinked at me, fingers pausing over the keyboard. “Are you a relative?” “Yes,” I said without hesitation. It wasn’t exactly a lie. Not really. Maybe not by blood, but… trauma makes people family too. She gave me a skeptical glance, but then she sighed and typed something into the system. “Room 550. Fourth floor.” “Thanks.” I didn’t wait for more. I hit the elevator button three times like that would make it go faster. The ride up felt like it took forever even though it barely lasted a minute. When the doors opened, I bolted down the hallway, dodging a nurse with a tray and ignoring the ache growing in my legs. Room 550. I stopped in front of

  • The Apex's hidden mate   I am so possessive about her

Aria’s POV Two girls were clawing at each other like feral wolves in heat. Nails scratching, hair pulling, teeth bared. One of them had a gash on her cheek, and the other was screaming so loud it echoed off the courtyard walls. I blinked, stunned, as a few professors tried to intervene—unsuccessfully. It was chaos. Actual, physical chaos. A few students shouted for help while others pulled out their phones to record the whole thing. “She slept with her friend’s mate,” someone muttered beside me. “What?” Sheila gasped, pulling closer. Another voice chimed in from behind, “I heard the guy was an Alpha. The girl just found out this morning.” “Ohhh,” someone else said knowingly. “That explains the bloodshed. An Alpha mate? That’s like a golden fated ticket. No wonder she’s losing it.” I stood there, unmoving, while the rest of the crowd kept pushing forward for a better view. The two girls were definitely from Beta families—well-dressed, sharp features. One of them sobbed as the o

  • The Apex's hidden mate   I don’t want it, but I really do

Aria’s POV I shot up in bed, chest heaving, sheets tangled around my legs like they were trying to hold me hostage. A dream. Just a dream. But what kind of dream was that? It felt real. So real. The heat of their bodies. The way their voices wrapped around me, low and sinful. Kaid, Caspian, Ryker, Thane. I could still hear them, feel them—too close, too intense. My heart was still pounding. My body still humming. And worse… worse was how real it had felt. And how it left me wanting. Their hands had roamed, their mouths teasing, possessive. It wasn’t just the sensations that unraveled me—it was the way they looked at me. Like I was something rare. Something they couldn’t get enough of. And goddess, the way they spoke to me in that dream... Dirty. Wicked. Worshipful. I buried my face in the pillow, mortified. Was this how the heroines in those steamy romance books felt? Is this what they meant by losing your mind with desire? Because I couldn’t even pretend I wasn’t affected.

  • The Apex's hidden mate   The men are on the bed with me

Aria’s POV I sat on the edge of the ridiculous bed—fluffy, oversized, probably worth more than my entire dorm building—and stared at the sleek walls like they were mocking me. This was happening. I was in the Apex brothers’ penthouse. The room was too quiet. Too perfect. soft luxury, sleek furniture, and a giant window framing a view of the school grounds like I’d been relocated to a royal tower. I let out a slow breath and dropped back onto the mattress, letting it swallow me up. How the hell did this happen? Flashback to earlier— I laughed like they’d just told the funniest joke in the universe. Staying with the Apex brothers at their penthouse? That had to be a joke. But it wasn’t. I stopped laughing the second I realized they were dead serious. And naturally, my first instinct was to shut that idea down with the force of a thousand suns. Absolutely not. I refused. Loudly. Proudly. Until Kaid opened his mouth. He didn’t argue. He just said, with that cold edge of his,
