First Fight Today

One of them, who was smaller than the others, pointed a finger at Gemma.

Gemma put her palm on her chest and asked innocently.

“Me? You guys looking for me?”

The other man, with a large body that made his shirt look like it was struggling to contain his distended stomach, snorted in annoyance and raised his voice.

“Don’t pretend you don’t know! We had to be in the hospital for three days because of you!!”

Gemma tilted her head. Now she remembered who they were. Those two were the men she beat up at a nightclub where Gemma had a concert last week. Gemma beat them up because they dared to abuse a maid there.

Well, even though the reason sounds right, the owner of that place still doesn’t want to know and asks Gemma for compensation.

“Only three days? I think up to a week.”

Gemma pressed her fingers together until they made a sound. Her eyes darkened. Do they want to get revenge? How dare they show their faces after what Gemma did to them?

A hand tapped Gemma’s shoulder. Gemma turned. It was Purity, who looked at her with a stern look, but her voice was gentle as she spoke.

“Gemma, whatever your business is, don’t do it here. I don’t want to scare the visitors.”

Gemma looked straight at the library and realized that the patrons were now standing frozen in their places, looking worriedly at Gemma and the two men.

Gemma didn’t want to destroy the library, either.

She sighed.

“Okay.”

Gemma walked out from behind the administration desk. She walked in front of the two of them, standing with her legs spread apart and her arms crossed over her chest.

“Whatever you want, don’t do it here. Come with me. We’ll talk outside.”

At first, those men were silent, then they burst out laughing. The Little Man pointed at Gemma while shouting.

“Come with you?! Who do you think you are to order us?!”

Gemma didn’t like having his index finger pointed right in front of her face, like now.

She grabbed that hand and twisted it, causing The Little Man to scream in pain until he fell to his knees.

“Are you guys crazy? Still trying to meet me even though you know you can’t beat me??”

Gemma stared at them fiercely. She will not attack first. What she did earlier was only because of her dislike, and as a reminder of who they were dealing with.

The Big Man looked choked to see his partner fall down. He quickly grabbed something from under his shirt. A gun.

“I’m not afraid of you!!! Today I will make you regret fighting us!!”

Gemma stood motionless in her place.

“What did you just say?”

Gemma allowed her anger to rise. She stared with a ‘you as good as dead now’ look at The Big Man, who was holding a gun, but his hands were shaking.

Tch. Seriously.

“How can you shoot properly when your hand looks like it’s being hit by an earthquake?”

The man roared, and he was about to pull the trigger.

But he’s not that fast.

Gemma ducked her head, then threw an upward kick, which hit the man’s wrist, sending the gun he was holding flying out of place.

Gemma stood up, and now they were facing each other less than a meter apart. Gemma spat out words in front of The Big Man.

“How dare you fire a gun at my house?”

That man screamed and threw a haphazard punch, which Gemma easily dodged.

Gemma didn’t want any damage here, so she kicked the man in the stomach, sent him flying farther back, and fell with a thud onto the asphalt.

Gemma walked up and stood on the highest step. She looked down at her opponent, who was groaning in pain while clutching his stomach.

“You!!” the man shouted.

“Such a big belly, it shouldn’t hurt when kicked.”

Gemma grinned, and her grin disappeared when she felt the muzzle of a gun pressed against the back of her head.

“Die.”

The Little Man, whom Gemma had forgotten to exist, was now holding her from behind.

Gemma was about to duck and turn to kick that man’s leg when she heard a voice.

“A man shouldn’t gang up on a woman like this.”

And Gemma heard a painful sound of broken bones followed by a very loud crash.

Gemma turned quickly. The Handsome Man in stiff clothes stood behind her. His face looked cute up close.

“You’re great,” he complimented Gemma. His expression was flat, but his tone was proud.

“You have no idea. I am so great that I don’t need your help.”

“We both knew you’d be shot if I wasn’t around.”

“Oh, really? I don’t think so.”

Gemma was about to come up with an explanation as to why she could fight them alone when the Big Man ran up the steps screaming in anger. Gemma rolled her eyes and sniffed.

“Ugh, why are they so noisy? Who would require to attack while shouting like that.”

Gemma pointed at the cute-handsome-stiff in front of her.

“We’re not done talking. I’ll get rid of them first, and we will have a serious conversation.”

When the big man reached the top step, Gemma quickly greeted him. Gemma lowered her head as the man threw a fist, and Gemma smacked her fist into that man’s body. As the man looked down in pain, Gemma smacked him in the face until he nearly fell to the side.

The Big Man is still not giving up. Gemma thought as she saw her opponent stand up and attack her again.

Gemma got into a stance and put strength into her legs. When the Big Man was within reach, Gemma took a kick. It hit the chest, and sent the Big Man back across the street, and ended up hitting the grocery store across from the library.

The sound of the crash was loud enough to make citizens came out of their houses. Including the grocer’s owner, Mrs. Milly, and her husband, whose bodies were shaking as they watched their shop nearly crumble.

Shit. Does Gemma still have money to pay for compensation?

Gemma could hear a patrol car from a distance. Ugh... Archturians. Has anyone contacted them?

Gemma turned to look for the man who had interfered in her fight.

He’s gone.

The patrol car drew closer and stopped right in front of the library. There was the sound of a car door opening and closing again. Gemma heard shod footsteps coming up the stairs quickly.

“You again.”

Gemma turned around, and couldn’t hide a guilty grin when she saw the annoyed face of the person who called out to her.

“Hi, Jo.”
