Eve

“Why would you touch me without my consent?”

I yelled at them and started hitting Axel more.

He stopped me with his hands and I fought back but he was stronger than me.

“Calm down, Eve. I think you got everything wrong.”

He said pleadingly.

I don’t listen to him and continue trying to break free so I can hit him more.

I saw the guilt in their eyes earlier so they can’t lie to me.

They slept with me while I was out of it.

They are both perverts.

“Eve!”

Rhys yelled my name.

“Don’t you dare call my name! How could you sleep with an unconscious woman? Don’t you talk about being my mate because that doesn’t make it okay to use my body without my consent!”

I yelled at him. at both of them.

“We didn’t sleep with you.”

Rhys denied.

“You said you touched me! I am naked save for this robe! Care to explain my current state if you both weren’t taking advantage of me the whole time we were here!”

I let out in anger.

“We didn’t do any of what you are accusing us of! We aren’t perverts!”

Axel yelled and somehow his voice managed to make me shut up for a moment and stop dragging with him.

“How do I know you aren’t lying? Care to explain my nakedness and why you both looked guilty when I asked if you touched me?”

I asked them.

I yanked my hands away from Axel’s and slammed my exposed robe together.

I glared at both of them, waiting for them to explain.

“We did touch you.”

“Aha ha!”

I let out.

“Not in the way you think, woman! Can you just listen?”

Rhys let out. His face was red from where I punched him.

Axel on the other hand looked perfect. His brown skin didn’t show any sign of being hit.

I fought the urge to hit him again and again until his face was messed up like Rhys's.

“Eve. We took turns taking care of you. By taking care of, I mean cleaning you up. We didn't even touch you when it wasn’t absolutely needed.”

Rhys explained.

I swallowed and finally calmed down.

I thought of just leaving but that would be stupid.

“Well thank you. Can I have my clothes back?”

I asked. They both nodded and Rhys left to get my clothes.

I avoided Axel’s gaze but I could feel his eyes on me.

“You know you don’t have to stand there and be on autopilot.”

I didn’t look at his words.

“What about that other mate? Who is he?”

I swallowed.

“None of your business.”

I told him.

“It’s my business. You are my mate. Our mate.”

I scoffed at his words and finally faced him.

“I am not your mate! I am nobody’s mate. I am just Eve.”

I told him.

Up until five days ago. I had been more.

Luna.

That’s what the pack members at Nightstand called me.

I thought they loved me.

I thought they cared and respected me.

I was wrong.

They don’t care.

If they cared one of them would have spoken up for me and stopped Knox.

Even Knox didn’t care that I was gone for five days.

I saw him fucking his new mate.

I closed my eyes briefly and I was transported to the Nightstand pack.

He was still in bed with his new mate and they were talking and laughing with each other.

“Forget him!”

I opened my eyes at the sound of the words.

It wasn’t my wolf who spoke, it was Axel.

How did he know I was thinking of my former mate?

Just attaching the word former to Knox made me sick.

Axel stood up and came to me.

“Forget about that man. whoever he is. He isn’t worth your time or your tears.”

I didn’t even know I was crying until he said something about tears.

I touched my eyes and sure enough, they were wet with tears.

I felt stupid for crying for that bastard again.

“You have us now.”

I flinched when he came closer and tried to touch me.

“Don’t touch me. I don’t need you or your beta. I don’t need anyone.”

I told him.

I turned when I heard footsteps behind me.

Rhys came back with my clothes and I took them from him.

I wordlessly walked to the restroom and hurriedly put on my clothes which were washed and ironed.

They treated me well while I was out of it.

The least I could do was thank them properly before parting ways with them.

Like I told Axel, I don’t need them.

I don’t need anyone in my life.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror.

I didn’t look like I was asleep for five whole days. Maybe that’s why it was hard for me to believe.

I brushed my hair away from my face before I walked out of the restroom.

When I reached the living room again, both of them were seated but as soon as they saw me, they stood up.

Axel went to the door and Rhys came to me.

“We are not going to let you leave us.”

I sighed deeply.

I wanted to thank them and leave but now their actions just changed that.

Fuck being thankful.

“Get out of my way!”

I yelled at Rhys.

“Eve. Just sit down and listen to us.”

“No! I will not listen to any of you! I need to get out of here!”

I yelled at him.

“Get out of here and go where?”

He yelled right back.

Right.

Go where?

I don’t have anything. no money and no directions.

The only thing I have right now is my powers. Yes, my powers will help me but I need a base.

I can’t just wander around with nothing.

“I will figure something out.”

I told him stubbornly.

“You won’t be figuring anything out on your own.”

Axel called from the door. I glared at him before looking at Rhys again.

His expression softened.

“Come home with us, Eve. We promise to take care of you.”

Home? With them?

“Where is this home you are talking about?”

I asked him.

“Our pack. It's a five-hour drive from here.”

“It’s not in the city?”

I asked him.

“Nope, but you will love it there.”

I don’t want a place I can love.

I loved a place once and it turned out to be a mistake.

“You were clearly wronged Eve. We don’t know the full story yet but we know you were wronged and we can help you if you let us.”

I laughed bitterly.

Help me? They can’t help me.

They already said their pack is five hours away from here which means the outskirts of town.

The only packs in that area are small packs that nobody gives a fuck about.

I bet their pack only consists of the two of them and maybe three other members who are all unmated males.

They can’t help me. Knox will crush them if they try.

“You can’t help me. I don’t need your help. You have done enough by keeping me safe for five days.”

I told both of them.

“We can help you.”

I shook my head. I beckoned Axel over and he came without arguing.

I pointed at both of them then at the seat and they both sat immediately.

Wow. They listen really well.

“Do you know Knox?”

They both looked confused.

“Alpha Knox Conrad of the Nightstand pack.”

I saw when they figured out who I was talking about.

“See? That’s why I say you can’t help me. The one who wronged me is Alpha Knox and I don’t want you both to lose your pack and your titles because of me. So let me go.”

I told them.

Now that they know who they will be up against, they won’t try to stop me from leaving.

“Where are you going?”

I stopped at Axel’s voice.

“Out. I told you already.”

I let out and started walking away again but he stopped me.

“We don’t care about that bastard Knox! We care about you and we aren’t going to let you face him on your own.”

Goddess! Why does he have to be so gorgeous—I mean stubborn. Stubborn.

“How do you think you would win over Knox? He is huge! He has an army of deltas and he always wins.”

I hated that I helped him achieve so much and made him untouchable.

“You say all that and you want us to leave you to face him alone?”

Rhys let out.

“Did I say I am going to face him now? I am going to find myself and face him when I am ready.”

I told them.

“We can help you with that. We are your mates! It’s our duty to protect you.”

Axel let out.

“No! You are not my mates! How can I have two mates? Does that even make sense to you?”

I yelled at him.

They weren’t listening to me.

I opened my mouth to speak but stopped and grabbed my head when I was suddenly hit with a headache that almost blinded me.

They both rushed to me and as soon as they touched me, I realized why I got the headache.

“Damn it!”

I let out and pushed them both away.

“You shouldn’t be worried about me right now! You should be worried about your pack and pack members!”

I yelled at them. The vision I saw was for them.

Their pack is under attack.
