MasukEVELYN’S POV
The shrill sound of an alarm clock made me frown. I wondered if there were alarm clocks in the afterlife. Make it stop, I mumbled under my breath, trying to open my eyes, which felt incredibly heavy. I was afraid to open them, wondering if I had landed in hell. But if this was hell, why did it feel so warm and soft? My eyes fluttered open, and I was welcomed by a white ceiling. I slowly looked around with a confused expression, wondering where I was. I tried to move into a sitting position but groaned when a sharp pain shot through my head. Where am I? I thought, looking around the room, which appeared to be a hospital suite. I glanced down at my hands and frowned in confusion. They were smoother, softer... not my hands. While I was trying to process this, the door pushed open. A lady walked in, followed by a man dressed like a doctor. “Oh my goodness, she's awake!” the lady exclaimed with a surprised expression and dashed toward me. I panicked and flinched backward. “I'm sorry, but who are you?” Almost immediately, the door pulled open again, and a man and a woman who seemed to be a couple walked in hand-in-hand. “Thank goodness you're awake. We were worried sick,” the woman said with a sad expression that looked entirely fake. I kept my confused expression. “Who are you?” I asked again. They all shared a knowing look. “What do you mean by that, Rosie? Don't you remember your own daddy?” the man asked, looking genuinely confused. “Daddy? Rosie? Who is that?” I felt like my head was about to explode. I couldn't understand why I was being referred to as someone else. “Come on, Sis, stop joking around, please. We were all worried about you,” the young lady standing closer to me spoke. I obviously had no idea what they were talking about. “My name is Evelyn, and I have no idea who this Rosie is,” I mumbled, feeling the room spin. “This is not funny anymore, Rosetta,” the older woman standing by the man spoke with a frown. I couldn't seem to care about their reactions. “Argh! Stop calling me that!” I half-yelled. I yanked the IV needle out of my arm without hesitation and dashed toward the bathroom. I locked myself in and leaned against the door to catch my breath. That was when my eyes fell on the bathroom mirror. My breath hitched. I touched my face vaguely, trying to understand why I was looking at a stranger. What the hell is this?! I screamed internally. I began touching my face and looking down at my entire body, ignoring the frantic knocks on the door. While I was still trying to understand what was going on, my vision suddenly went black. When I “woke up” a second later, I found myself staring back at my reflection but the reflection wasn't moving. It was the alleged Rosetta. “What is happening? Am I dead? Was I dreaming?” I asked, staring intensely at the reflection. “You're being given a second chance to make things right,” the reflection mumbled. “Why?” “You can carry on living as Rosetta if you're able to stay alive and change the wheel of time,” she said. I couldn't understand what any of that meant. “What do you mean?” “Try surviving for a year as Rosetta, and you can continue living as this person forever.” “What happened to my body?” I asked curiously, even though I already knew the answer. “Evelyn is dead. Rosetta is saved,” she stated coldly. My eyes fluttered as I clenched my fist angrily. “Once you wake up, my memories will be transferred to you... Good luck,” she whispered. I slowly opened my eyes and unhurriedly stood up from the bathroom floor. The vision was gone. True to her words, I was instantly flooded with her memories. Everything I needed to know about the body I was in crashed into my mind. “So, you were Miss Goody-Two-Shoes, huh?” I mumbled, staring at my new reflection. Rosetta was involved in an accident after getting intoxicated by Ivy, her sister. Ivy had forced her to drive while drunk, leading to the accident that killed her. I thought about how I was brutally discarded by the Organization just for wanting to know more about my family. Anger coursed through my entire body as I remembered that man's voice. “I'm going to hunt you all down and make you pay for everything you've done,” I muttered, staring at my reflection with bloodshot eyes. The banging on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I straightened up before unlocking the bathroom door. Sure enough, I found Ivy standing right in front of me with a worried expression. Unlike the old Rosetta, I could easily see through her facade. “Are you okay? Mom and Dad are worried you might have done something to yourself in there,” she mumbled with a fragile voice. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. “Says the person who tried to get me killed.” I shoved her aside and headed toward the bed. She seemed flustered, her eyes widening in surprise. “What do you mean, Rosie? You were the one who wanted to get drunk because you didn't want to get married to the Young Master,” she said loudly enough for Dad and Mom to hear. Sure enough, "Dad’s" face contorted into a deep frown. I simply got back into bed without paying any attention to them. “What's this, huh? What game are you playing, pretending not to remember anything?” He was furious but was trying to control his anger. I turned to the doctor and feigned being in pain, my voice cold. “Doctor, tell them to leave.”EVELYNE'S POV I just have to keep playing along with him until I've got solid evidence that he is actually connected to the Organization, I thought to myself as I stared down at the garden right behind the hospital. I stroked my temple as I felt a migraine coming on. There was no doubt my soul was having a hard time getting used to Rosetta's weak frame; hence, the sudden blackout. “You're slacking off, Eve,” I mumbled while I tried to analyze everything I remembered from that day. That man was obviously someone who knew Williams. No one had access to the VIP lounge; only people who were authorized to come see the man of the hour. “I wonder what secret you're hiding.” A strange glint flashed through my eyes, too quickly for anyone to notice, as I came up with a plan. I turned around, went back to my bed, and carefully picked up Mia's laptop. I just needed to know the keys she'd clicked on. To find out, I raised it closer and carefully stared at the keyboard for prints
WILLIAMS' POV “She's taking too long.” I frowned upon realizing that it had been a couple of minutes since she left for the bathroom. “I'll check it out,” Connor said as he headed for the door, and I was left alone. The auction was about to start, and they were only allowed to bid through an app called ‘The Watcher,’ an app I personally designed. “Everything is in place, Boss. Waiting for your orders,” a voice spoke through the earbuds. “You can...” My words were cut off when Connor hurried back to the lounge. “There's been a situation in the bathroom,” he explained. From his eyes, I knew things had gone wrong, so I stood up and headed out of the lounge. I went straight to the bathroom and found her lying lifeless on the cold floor. “Seal off every entrance of the building right now!” I announced as I gently placed my fingers on her neck to feel her pulse before picking her off the floor, carefully carrying her bridal-style. “Make sure no one breathes a word about
EVELYN’S POV “She is my fiancée, Miss Glenn,” he introduced courtly. The bald man looked at him with a surprised expression before glancing over at me with a bright smile. I reciprocated, flashing a charming grin, and I could feel Williams' arm tighten around my waist, his grip bordering on painful. “Nice to meet you, beautiful Miss Glenn.” Alan stretched out his hand for a handshake. Before I could lift my hand, Williams intercepted. He grabbed Alan’s hand in a crushing grip, embarrassing the man instantly. I resisted the urge to laugh at the display of territorial dominance. I took a sip from my glass of red wine, staring coquettishly at the bald man over the rim. Alan smiled nervously, clearly sensing the danger radiating from my "fiancé." “Nice to meet you too, Mr...?” “Alan. Call me Alan,” he responded immediately. I nodded with a polite smile. “Would you excuse us for a moment?” Williams spoke. His voice was calm, but it was laced with a cold, underlying ange
EVELYN’S POV I looked at her with a look of pure disgust. “You tried to kill me, and you think you can get away with it?” I raised an eyebrow. Her eyes flickered with panic as she stared at her mother for help. “What are you talking about, Rosie? Ivy is your sister. You shouldn't say such things just because you're mad,” her mother said. Even though she was trying to sound like a loving parent, I could see right through her facade. It disgusted me. “Oh, stop with the pretense. It's starting to bore me,” I spoke nonchalantly. I turned my attention to setting up my new cellphone, but a message popped up on the screen that made me frown. “You don't talk to your mother like that!” the woman screeched. “You're not my mother! Get the hell out of my face!” I barked angrily. My voice was laced with a killing intent they had never heard before. They flinched backward in fear, realizing for the first time that the docile Rosetta was gone. Terrified, they rushed out of the ro
EVELYN’S POVI looked at him with a surprised expression. I had only known him for a few minutes, and he was already driving me crazy.“I'm quite sure you haven't gone deaf,” he muttered without sparing me a glance.“Just who the hell do you think you are?” I felt like punching him in the face.“You wanted to marry me badly, remember?” He scoffed nonchalantly.I felt my anger rising rapidly. I took deep breaths to calm down.“Well, I'm not interested in getting married to a stupid narcissist,” I said bluntly. His hands seemed to freeze mid-air over his tablet. I could feel the coldness emanating from his body, and for the first time ever, I felt intimidated.“Stop the car,” he commanded. The car came to a halt immediately. He finally raised his head to look at me.“Get out,” he spoke calmly.I didn't move an inch. “Are you asking me to get out of your car?” I asked, wanting to be sure I heard right.“Get out!” he barked.I flinched backward and immediately got out of the car.“I'm sur
EVELYN’S POVIt had been a few days since I transmigrated into this new body, and I was slowly getting the hang of things.I had been discharged from the hospital, but I couldn't stop thinking about the man who was supposed to be my fiance and why he had yet to pay his "wife" a visit since I woke up.“Good news, Young Miss. You're getting discharged today,” the doctor informed me.I nodded without sparing him a glance.“I see,” I mumbled, rubbing my chin while staring at the laptop screen with a frown.“You should get ready, too,” the doctor added, hoping to get a reaction from me.“I'm busy,” I muttered, eyes glued to the screen. He had to leave in embarrassment.I was trying to hack into the Organization's database, but it was being protected by a top-tier firewall called Lockwell. I was caught off guard and barely managed to pull out before they traced my location.“I'm coming for you,” I scoffed before turning off the laptop.I got off the bed to get changed before my so-called fa
