The shrill sound of an alarm clock made me frown. I wondered if there were alarm clocks in the afterlife. Make it stop, I mumbled under my breath, trying to open my eyes, which felt incredibly heavy. I was afraid to open them, wondering if I had landed in hell. But if this was hell, why did it feel so warm and soft? My eyes fluttered open, and I was welcomed by a white ceiling. I slowly looked around with a confused expression, wondering where I was. I tried to move into a sitting position but groaned when a sharp pain shot through my head. Where am I? I thought, looking around the room, which appeared to be a hospital suite. I glanced down at my hands and frowned in confusion. They were smoother, softer... not my hands. While I was trying to process this, the door pushed open. A lady walked in, followed by a man dressed like a doctor. “Oh my goodness, she's awake!” the lady exclaimed with a surprised expression and dashed toward me. I panicked and flinched backward. “I'm sorry, but who are you?” Almost immediately, the door pulled open again, and a man and a woman who seemed to be a couple walked in hand-in-hand. “Thank goodness you're awake. We were worried sick,” the woman said with a sad expression that looked entirely fake. I kept my confused expression. “Who are you?” I asked again. They all shared a knowing look. “What do you mean by that, Rosie? Don't you remember your own daddy?” the man asked, looking genuinely confused. “Daddy? Rosie? Who is that?” I felt like my head was about to explode. I couldn't understand why I was being referred to as someone else. “Come on, Sis, stop joking around, please. We were all worried about you,” the young lady standing closer to me spoke. I obviously had no idea what they were talking about. “My name is Evelyn, and I have no idea who this Rosie is,” I mumbled, feeling the room spin. “This is not funny anymore, Rosetta,” the older woman standing by the man spoke with a frown. I couldn't seem to care about their reactions. “Argh! Stop calling me that!” I half-yelled. I yanked the IV needle out of my arm without hesitation and dashed toward the bathroom. I locked myself in and leaned against the door to catch my breath. That was when my eyes fell on the bathroom mirror. My breath hitched. I touched my face vaguely, trying to understand why I was looking at a stranger. What the hell is this?! I screamed internally. I began touching my face and looking down at my entire body, ignoring the frantic knocks on the door. While I was still trying to understand what was going on, my vision suddenly went black. When I “woke up” a second later, I found myself staring back at my reflection but the reflection wasn't moving. It was the alleged Rosetta. “What is happening? Am I dead? Was I dreaming?” I asked, staring intensely at the reflection. “You're being given a second chance to make things right,” the reflection mumbled. “Why?” “You can carry on living as Rosetta if you're able to stay alive and change the wheel of time,” she said. I couldn't understand what any of that meant. “What do you mean?” “Try surviving for a year as Rosetta, and you can continue living as this person forever.” “What happened to my body?” I asked curiously, even though I already knew the answer. “Evelyn is dead. Rosetta is saved,” she stated coldly. My eyes fluttered as I clenched my fist angrily. “Once you wake up, my memories will be transferred to you... Good luck,” she whispered. I slowly opened my eyes and unhurriedly stood up from the bathroom floor. The vision was gone. True to her words, I was instantly flooded with her memories. Everything I needed to know about the body I was in crashed into my mind. “So, you were Miss Goody-Two-Shoes, huh?” I mumbled, staring at my new reflection. Rosetta was involved in an accident after getting intoxicated by Ivy, her sister. Ivy had forced her to drive while drunk, leading to the accident that killed her. I thought about how I was brutally discarded by the Organization just for wanting to know more about my family. Anger coursed through my entire body as I remembered that man's voice. “I'm going to hunt you all down and make you pay for everything you've done,” I muttered, staring at my reflection with bloodshot eyes. The banging on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I straightened up before unlocking the bathroom door. Sure enough, I found Ivy standing right in front of me with a worried expression. Unlike the old Rosetta, I could easily see through her facade. “Are you okay? Mom and Dad are worried you might have done something to yourself in there,” she mumbled with a fragile voice. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. “Says the person who tried to get me killed.” I shoved her aside and headed toward the bed. She seemed flustered, her eyes widening in surprise. “What do you mean, Rosie? You were the one who wanted to get drunk because you didn't want to get married to the Young Master,” she said loudly enough for Dad and Mom to hear. Sure enough, "Dad’s" face contorted into a deep frown. I simply got back into bed without paying any attention to them. “What's this, huh? What game are you playing, pretending not to remember anything?” He was furious but was trying to control his anger. I turned to the doctor and feigned being in pain, my voice cold. “Doctor, tell them to leave.”THIRD PERSON POVIn a dark alley at Crim city....Bruce leaned against the grimy wall, the tip of his blunt glowing like a firefly in the night. He drew in a deep breath, the smoke filling his lungs and drifting out in a slow, hazy stream. This wasn't how he wanted things to go, he knew Williams would most definitely find her at the end of the day but he hadn't expected him to find her so soon.He hadn't even injected her with the drug that made one loose the memory of what happened 24 hours before. He shouldv'e I injected her immediately, but couldn't knowing she was just going to be injected at the auction."Fuck!" He cursed. Ivy should be in trouble by now, but he hadn't heard word from her, neither had Williams openly come for him. He knew if Williams even tried to then he would most definitely be drawled out of hiding. He wondered what exactly was going on between the two families now. But how could he find out right now? Here he was, hiding in the shadows, frustration gnawing at
THIRD PERSON POV"Since when does Rosetta swim? She was always scared of water. But now, she dives in like it's nothing. It's weird." Mr. Glenn's eyes were clouded with thought, his mind trying to piece together the puzzle Ivy was laying out."There's more," Ivy pressed on, desperate to convince him. "She's mean to Gabriella, her assistant, they were more or less the real sisters here. The old Rosetta would never treat someone like that not to talk of Gabriella."Ivy took a deep breath before delivering her final blow. "And the office, Dad. She asked you for a bigger one at the company. You know Rosetta was always contented with the office given to her. Why did she then want it bigger all of a sudden. She's different, Dad. She's not the Rosetta we knew."Mr. Glenn finally spoke, his voice low and dangerous. "If what you're saying is true, then we are in big trouble. We need to be sure about this before we make any moves. The Carters are not a family to trifle with."Mrs. Glenn nodded.
THIRD PERSON POVAnd with that, Williams grabbed his phone and Rosetta watched him tap a few keys on the screen and in about 2 minutes, Connor was out and standing before Williams. He left the room with Connor and Rosetta noticed the look Connor gave Gabriella before they departed. As soon as they left, Gabriella rushed to Rosetta's side, tears welling up in her eyes. "Oh Rosetta, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere? Oh God I was so scared." She cried."You know, Connor called me this morning and told me what happened, I was so worried that I almost fainted from fright," Gabriella said, her voice shaking as she tried to hold back sobs.'oh Gab' Evelyn heard Rosetta say. 'Oh so now you can speak?' Evelyn thought with a scoff. Rosetta could see the genuine fear and concern in Gabriella's eyes. Unlike Evelyn, who just rolled her eyes, Gabriella was truly upset but Evelyn wasn't one to console kids."Why do you have Connor's number?" Evelyn asked, her tone sharp.Gabriella was taken aback
THIRD PERSON POV"And what about money? We can't run without money," Ivy said, panic creeping into her voice as she thought of a way to convince her mom. "We'll take what we can and sell whatever we need to. Jewelry, clothes, anything," her mother said with a tone of finality. "We don't have time, Ivy. We need to be gone before Rosetta comes for us.""I'm not running away," Ivy stated, her voice firm despite the fear that clung to her every word. "The farther I am from Williams, the closer he gets to her. I can't lose to her, Mom. I didn't lose to the real Rosetta, and I won't lose to this fake one."Mrs Glenn's brows creased in confusion as she turned to her daughter and she stopped pacing. "What do you mean by 'real' and 'fake' Rosetta?" she asked, her tone laced with confusion and a growing interest.Ivy took a deep breath, and turned to her mother with all seriousness"It's true. That girl is not Rosetta. She's someone else, pretending to be her. Probably for the fame and money.""
THIRD PERSON POVEvelyn's eyes slowly opened the next morning. The room was bright with sunlight, and for a moment, she didn't remember where she was or how she got there. All she could feel was pain. Then, the memories of the last night rushed back. She felt her heart beat faster as she remembered being in the Van with Bruce and his stupid men, and then she was taken to that hotel and met with Amira again. She tried to sit up, but her head spun making her dizzy, and she lay back down with a groan. "You're awake," a deep manly voice said. Evelyn turned her head and saw Williams sitting by the bed. He had a serious look on his face, so serious that you couldn't even guess his thoughts at all. "How do you feel?" he asked."Like I've been run over by a truck," she said, trying to make her voice sound light, but she was still feeling weak. Williams stood up and poured her a glass of water from a bottle on the nightstand. "Drink this," he said, his voice gentle yet stiff. She could tell he
THIRD PERSON POVThe look in her eyes were those of a sly wolf about to feast off it's prey. "Rosetta, just bear with it a bit longer. The physician is on her way here." He said frustratedly."But I can't... I... I don't know what's happening and you look.. so..""You'll regret this by morning, and now I'm ordering you to go sit your ass back down or I seriously will punish you." He said with a warning gaze. Rosetta ignored his cold tone as her gaze landed on his lips. "Sit down n-"He was suddenly cut off by a pair of lips moving on his lips, tasting and savoring the taste of his lips. He was in shock that he didn't move or think for a few seconds. He hadn't expected her to be this proactive that she would make a move on him. And soon, he couldn't take it and kissed her back."Williams I need-" Rosetta tried to tell him she needed air, but he didn't let her move, neither did he give her a breathing space. It felt like he wanted to steal every bit of air in her and leave her breathles
EVELYNE'S POVI moved closer to observe and that was when I noticed something was wrong. He was bleeding profusely and his forehead was covered in sweat.I tried to touch where the blood was coming from but he suddenly caught my wrist and looked at me with those deadly eyes.He was overly defensive
WILLIAMS POV“ So tell me, why do you insist on marrying Rosetta when you don't have any feelings for her? Don't tell me you're planning on making the poor girl miserable?” He frowned in dissatisfaction.“ We shouldn't be in love before we get married, no?” I raised an eyebrow and I heaved a sigh.
WILLIAMS POVI looked at my bloody palm and glanced down at my abdomen and saw that I'd been hit.“ You're bleeding, Boss!” Connor panicked and I immediately applied Pressure on it.“ Take care of everything here, I'll meet you at the auction.” I muttered as beads of sweat made its way to my forehe
