LOGINEVELYN’S POV
A gasp escaped my lips when a bucket of cold water landed on my face, snapping my eyes open. “You're finally awake.” I heard the familiar voice as I looked around, desperate to think of a way to free myself. “What's the meaning of this?” I asked with a frown, unable to understand why I was suddenly tied up by my own people. “You never cease to amaze me, Eve,” the man spoke as he stood up from where he was seated and walked toward me. Unfortunately, I couldn't see his face; he was wearing a mask to hide his identity. “Do you realize what you're doing?” I asked once again, while quietly working to untie the rope keeping my hands in place behind my back. “I heard you were the best Angel in the Organization, so I expected more.” He smirked as he suddenly crouched down in front of me and grabbed hold of my chin roughly. I shrugged him off and glared daggers at him. “Get the f*ck away from me,” I said between clenched teeth. This made him chuckle. “Hmm, a hothead,” he said thoughtfully. He moved away from me, and that was when I saw the chance to move. Once I successfully loosened the rope, I sprung up. I attacked one of the guards when he least expected it, snatched his gun, and used him as a human shield in hopes of getting out of there unscratched. But I seemed to have forgotten what the Organization was capable of. “Drop your weapons, or I'll blow his head off!” I threatened, pressing the Glock against the guard's temple. Unfortunately, no one flinched. “Go ahead,” the man behind the mask spoke nonchalantly, staring point-blank at me. I knew things were going to get messy if I didn't leave. Just when I was about to move, they opened fire without hesitation, killing the guard I was holding. I managed to shove the dead body forward and dive for the exit immediately. The facility was in the middle of nowhere, far away from civilization, but I wasn't going to let myself get caught no matter what happened. My survival instincts kicked in, and I did all I could to run, even though I had been hit in the abdomen by a stray bullet during the escape. A groan escaped my lips as I headed for the road, though I could already hear them coming after me. “She couldn't have gone far.” “Bring her to me right now. If she tries to resist, kill her.” I could hear their voices as I mustered up my strength and ran as fast as I could, ignoring the searing pain in my abdomen. I stopped for a brief moment to apply pressure on the wound, which was bleeding profusely. I was losing too much blood; I needed to get somewhere safe to be treated. I managed to reach a waterfall. I ripped off a part of my shirt and carefully wrapped up the wound to slow the bleeding, then began moving once again. I ended up at an expressway, but before I could go any further, they caught up with me. I knew it was the end of the road. “There's no point running anyway.” The masked man seemed irritated as he got out of the car and walked toward me. I took a defensive stance. “You're trying to silence me after everything I've done for the Organization? Tsk!” I barked angrily, even though I already suspected why this was happening. “You should have stayed quiet and acted like the dummy you have always been, Eve,” he mumbled while adjusting his coat. “I didn't do anything wrong. Fine, I went through some files in the archives, but that was it! It's not a crime to be curious about my origin,” I defended myself. He burst out laughing. Before I could even react, he shot me multiple times. My legs gave out, and I fell to my knees immediately. I pressed my palm against my neck as I began coughing out blood, unable to say a word as life drained out of me. I could feel my consciousness slipping away. I fell flat on the ground, staring at him with bloodshot eyes. He moved closer and pressed the barrel of his gun against the bullet wound on my abdomen, making me cough out more blood. “You shouldn't bite the fingers that fed you.” I reached out with shaky hands to hold onto him while my vision slowly became blurry. “You were a good soldier, Eve. Too bad you had to go down this way, my love,” he spoke nonchalantly while watching me struggle to breathe. “W...why...” I struggled to speak. With the last bit of my strength, I reached up and managed to rip the mask off his face. But unfortunately, my vision had become too blurry to make out his features clearly. My whole life flashed before my eyes. “Shhh... stop struggling, okay? Death is coming soon.” He took his mask back from my weak grip and ran his fingers through his disheveled hair. “Since you're going to die anyway, I'm going to let you in on a secret.” He brought his face closer to my ear. “The Organization wanted to get rid of you the same way they got rid of your parents,” he whispered before moving away. I felt rage course through my dying veins. “I... I'm going to kill you all!” I choked out, but he just scoffed before walking back to his car. “Let's go. She's going to bleed out anyway.” They drove off, leaving me right there in my own pool of blood. I wanted nothing but revenge on them all. I didn't want to die like this. Hot tears rolled down my cheeks as I began praying in my heart for the first time ever. I could already feel death knocking as I struggled to keep my eyes open. I wish for a second chance. I promise to make things right and make them suffer for hurting you, Mother, Father. Please don't let me die. That was the last thought I had before darkness took me completely.EVELYNE'S POV I just have to keep playing along with him until I've got solid evidence that he is actually connected to the Organization, I thought to myself as I stared down at the garden right behind the hospital. I stroked my temple as I felt a migraine coming on. There was no doubt my soul was having a hard time getting used to Rosetta's weak frame; hence, the sudden blackout. “You're slacking off, Eve,” I mumbled while I tried to analyze everything I remembered from that day. That man was obviously someone who knew Williams. No one had access to the VIP lounge; only people who were authorized to come see the man of the hour. “I wonder what secret you're hiding.” A strange glint flashed through my eyes, too quickly for anyone to notice, as I came up with a plan. I turned around, went back to my bed, and carefully picked up Mia's laptop. I just needed to know the keys she'd clicked on. To find out, I raised it closer and carefully stared at the keyboard for prints
WILLIAMS' POV “She's taking too long.” I frowned upon realizing that it had been a couple of minutes since she left for the bathroom. “I'll check it out,” Connor said as he headed for the door, and I was left alone. The auction was about to start, and they were only allowed to bid through an app called ‘The Watcher,’ an app I personally designed. “Everything is in place, Boss. Waiting for your orders,” a voice spoke through the earbuds. “You can...” My words were cut off when Connor hurried back to the lounge. “There's been a situation in the bathroom,” he explained. From his eyes, I knew things had gone wrong, so I stood up and headed out of the lounge. I went straight to the bathroom and found her lying lifeless on the cold floor. “Seal off every entrance of the building right now!” I announced as I gently placed my fingers on her neck to feel her pulse before picking her off the floor, carefully carrying her bridal-style. “Make sure no one breathes a word about
EVELYN’S POV “She is my fiancée, Miss Glenn,” he introduced courtly. The bald man looked at him with a surprised expression before glancing over at me with a bright smile. I reciprocated, flashing a charming grin, and I could feel Williams' arm tighten around my waist, his grip bordering on painful. “Nice to meet you, beautiful Miss Glenn.” Alan stretched out his hand for a handshake. Before I could lift my hand, Williams intercepted. He grabbed Alan’s hand in a crushing grip, embarrassing the man instantly. I resisted the urge to laugh at the display of territorial dominance. I took a sip from my glass of red wine, staring coquettishly at the bald man over the rim. Alan smiled nervously, clearly sensing the danger radiating from my "fiancé." “Nice to meet you too, Mr...?” “Alan. Call me Alan,” he responded immediately. I nodded with a polite smile. “Would you excuse us for a moment?” Williams spoke. His voice was calm, but it was laced with a cold, underlying ange
EVELYN’S POV I looked at her with a look of pure disgust. “You tried to kill me, and you think you can get away with it?” I raised an eyebrow. Her eyes flickered with panic as she stared at her mother for help. “What are you talking about, Rosie? Ivy is your sister. You shouldn't say such things just because you're mad,” her mother said. Even though she was trying to sound like a loving parent, I could see right through her facade. It disgusted me. “Oh, stop with the pretense. It's starting to bore me,” I spoke nonchalantly. I turned my attention to setting up my new cellphone, but a message popped up on the screen that made me frown. “You don't talk to your mother like that!” the woman screeched. “You're not my mother! Get the hell out of my face!” I barked angrily. My voice was laced with a killing intent they had never heard before. They flinched backward in fear, realizing for the first time that the docile Rosetta was gone. Terrified, they rushed out of the ro
EVELYN’S POVI looked at him with a surprised expression. I had only known him for a few minutes, and he was already driving me crazy.“I'm quite sure you haven't gone deaf,” he muttered without sparing me a glance.“Just who the hell do you think you are?” I felt like punching him in the face.“You wanted to marry me badly, remember?” He scoffed nonchalantly.I felt my anger rising rapidly. I took deep breaths to calm down.“Well, I'm not interested in getting married to a stupid narcissist,” I said bluntly. His hands seemed to freeze mid-air over his tablet. I could feel the coldness emanating from his body, and for the first time ever, I felt intimidated.“Stop the car,” he commanded. The car came to a halt immediately. He finally raised his head to look at me.“Get out,” he spoke calmly.I didn't move an inch. “Are you asking me to get out of your car?” I asked, wanting to be sure I heard right.“Get out!” he barked.I flinched backward and immediately got out of the car.“I'm sur
EVELYN’S POVIt had been a few days since I transmigrated into this new body, and I was slowly getting the hang of things.I had been discharged from the hospital, but I couldn't stop thinking about the man who was supposed to be my fiance and why he had yet to pay his "wife" a visit since I woke up.“Good news, Young Miss. You're getting discharged today,” the doctor informed me.I nodded without sparing him a glance.“I see,” I mumbled, rubbing my chin while staring at the laptop screen with a frown.“You should get ready, too,” the doctor added, hoping to get a reaction from me.“I'm busy,” I muttered, eyes glued to the screen. He had to leave in embarrassment.I was trying to hack into the Organization's database, but it was being protected by a top-tier firewall called Lockwell. I was caught off guard and barely managed to pull out before they traced my location.“I'm coming for you,” I scoffed before turning off the laptop.I got off the bed to get changed before my so-called fa
