Selene
I had expected to wake feeling exhausted after sitting up so late waiting for Rory to return. Instead, I felt like I had energy I hadn’t experienced since before EJ’s attempt on my life. Whatever was in the injection Rory had given me the day before was a miracle drug. I skipped into the small kitchen, accepting a steaming cup of coffee from Alistair. He had woken me moments before with the promise of the liquid ambrosia I desperately craved.
“No cane, I see”. He smiled as he turned back to the pot to poor his own cup.
“I’ll be back to peak performance in no time old man.”
