We talked for hours, with me eventually shifting my position so that I was curled in his lap against his chest. I had never been so intimate with anyone, sharing with him my fondest childhood memories. Even though my attitude had changed toward our mate bond, it was the first time I truly understood how well we were matched. It made me wonder for a moment why I had fought against our bond in the first place.
Lucas stood from his seat, scooping me into his arms as he did, eliciting a giggle. Toying with his loosened tie, I looked into his eyes, plastering on my most innocent face.
