The next morning, Aliyah, along with the rest of the group, resumed the journey toward the Lycan Community. The forest around them seemed even quieter than before, as if it, too, sensed the weight of what was coming.

Aliyah hadn’t slept well. A strange dream had troubled her through the night — fragmented and unclear, but heavy with a feeling she couldn’t shake. Shadows, whispers, and a flicker of something lost. She couldn’t make sense of it, but it left behind a cold knot in her stomach.

She tried to dismiss it. Just nerves, she told herself, over and over. But the restlessness remained.

All she wanted now was to get there — to find the answers she came for and return to Leo. The thought of him steadied her, even as her mind swirled with doubt.

She pressed a hand briefly to the pouch at her waist, feeling the solid shape of his ring inside. Wait for me, she whispered inwardly. I’m coming back.

She didn’t move. Her eyes were wide, and her body stiff, like someone caught in shock. She looked between Leo and Tania, their bare skin, how close they stood.Leo took a step back, the fog beginning to clear.“No,” he murmured. “You were just here. I don't understand.”Aliyah stepped in, her voice a low growl. “Clearly, you don’t.”He turned to Tania, his expression hardening. “What did you do to me?”Tania’s mouth opened, but nothing came out. Panic filled her eyes.“You made me believe...” he snapped, but Aliyah cut him off.“You believed?” she said, voice rising. “You believed that was me? You couldn’t even tell the difference between a stranger and your own mate?”“I thought it was you” Leo pleaded. “She used something on me. I didn’t know.”The pain in Aliyah’s chest burned hotter than fire. Her Lycan stirred beneath her skin, furious and wounded. Her pupils darkened, her body trembling as her voice dropped, each word laced with a growl.“You kissed her. You touched her. You let

The night felt endless, and sleep remained out of reach for Leo.He sat on the edge of his bed, staring into the fading glow of the hearth, his mind racing. Bayle’s escape. Aliyah still hadn’t come back. The weight of it all settled heavily on him. A quiet fear crept in, not for himself, but for her.His hands balled into fists. He couldn’t afford to lose control. Not now. Then, a soft knock at the door.He turned sharply, every muscle tense. “Come in,” he called, wary. The door creaked open, and a woman stepped in.She wore a flowing crimson robe that hugged her figure in all the wrong ways for a late visit. Her long dark hair fell over one shoulder in soft waves, and a faint smile played on her lips.Leo’s brows drew together. He didn’t recognize her.“Who are you?” he asked. She bowed slightly. “I’m Tania, Alpha. Your maid Mara isn’t feeling well. I was asked to fill in for her tonight. I brought your usual night drink to help you rest.”She lifted the tray slightly, revealing a st

“I think it’s time I find a way to bring Aliyah back,” Leo muttered, his voice low but firm as he stared out the window of his study. “I hope she’s alright… wherever she is.”As the thought settled in his mind, the door slowly opened and Rylan walked in, his expression tense with worry.“Leo,” he began, his voice grave, “we have a problem.”Leo turned slowly, immediately sensing the weight behind Rylan’s tone. “What is it?”Rylan didn’t hesitate. “Bayle has escaped the cell.”For a moment, Leo could only stare, stunned. Then rage surged through him like fire.“Say that again,” he growled, stepping forward, eyes hard.“He’s gone,” Rylan said, his voice tense. “The guards found the cell empty this morning. No sign of how he got out. He just vanished.”“That’s impossible!” Leo snapped. “He was stripped of his wolf. He had no power, no strength left! That cell was built to hold the strongest of us. How could he escape?”Rylan remained silent, his jaw tight. He had no answers, just the sam

The following morning, Leo woke up early and prepared himself for the council meeting he’d been putting off for days. Rylan’s words the night before still echoed in his mind, he had made a promise to take action, and today he would start. He had to stop the elders from carrying out their plan.As Leo sat down for breakfast, Rylan stepped into the room. He halted for a moment, clearly surprised to see Leo up, dressed, and prepared.“So you’re finally going?” Rylan asked.Leo gave a small nod. “I said I would.”Rylan smirked slightly. “Looks like my words actually got through to you.”Rylan smiled faintly. Leo motioned for him to sit, and after a moment’s hesitation, he joined him. They ate in silence for a few minutes before Rylan smirked and said, “You’re actually eating today. That’s new.”Leo gave a half-smile. “Turns out being miserable doesn’t keep you full.”Rylan chuckled. “You know, you used to win every sparring match because you never skipped breakfast. I was beginning to thi

Rylan paced angrily around his room, frustrated with Leo’s behavior. He had tried to talk to him several times, but nothing worked. It wasn’t that Rylan doubted Aliyah. He was certain she would never betray Leo. He had seen the love they shared. What truly bothered him was that Leo didn’t seem to trust her.Determined to try one last time, Rylan made his way to Leo’s chamber. When he entered, Leo was sitting on the floor in his usual messy state. But this time, he wasn’t drinking. He was lost in thought. Rylan approached quietly and tapped his shoulder.Leo flinched in surprise.“What brings you here?” Leo asked.“Who else would it be?” Rylan replied. “I’m here because I care. I can’t keep watching you turn into someone you’re not.”Leo stared at him, fear flickering in his eyes. “I have this feeling she won’t come back. She’s left before.”Rylan’s tone sharpened. “Your concern shouldn’t be whether she’s coming back. It should be whether she made it there alive.”Leo looked at him, ca
