Chapter Twenty-One

   A snowstorm was raging out in the night. Branches slammed against the windows, and the wind howled almost as if it was in pain. The room was dim with the warm glow from the fireplace being the only light source.  

   "Little one, it is time for me to leave," the shadowy figure started in a garbled voice. The man stood in the middle of the room with a small silver-haired child. Esper stood back as an onlooker, she had dreamt this dream many times, but this time it felt different.  

   "But I don't want you to go!" This time her younger self was yelling. Usually, the little girl was already defeated, but this time anger and betrayal filled her delicate body.  

   "Esper, your new friends are arriving. You are going to have so much fun with them that you will forget about me. You don't need me anymore." The voice becoming less distorted, and his figure
