I'd call the cops

Chapter 2: I’d call the cops.

AARON’s POV

I entered the living room, a bottle of alcohol in one hand and a kitchen knife in the other. I was already retiring to my bed when I heard a little noise. I knew something was up so I quickly grabbed one of the knives from the kitchen where I had been drinking and made way to the living room.

It had to be a fucking burglar or something because it was almost 12am in the morning.

I turned the lights on quickly and it illuminated the room revealing a sight that left me dumbfounded. There, hanging from the ceiling, was a woman.

I squinted my eyes in confusion.

I wasn’t expecting to see that.

"What in the world are you doing here?" The words tumbled out, a mix of shock and anger, as I approached her. "How did you gain access to my apartment?"

The woman was silent so I pulled off her mask swiftly and her long blonde hair hit the floor.

I stared at her wide eyed.

“Are you deaf or something? How did you get in here huh?”

She was  breathless and desperate, but managed to reply, her voice strained. "I had my ways, Aaron. Please, I need your help down. And stop examining me like some sort of specimen?Don’t worry,I am not armed.”

Wait. She knew my name?

Well of course, she did. I forgot sometimes that I was famous.

I regarded her carefully, my eyes tracing her appearance. The situation seemed surreal, as if plucked from a movie. Yet, there she was, hanging in mid-air, an intruder.

“Are you asking for my help after breaking into my house? Unbelievable.”

“I just need your help to get down, that’s all. If you had come in a little much later,I would have been able to pull myself up or reach into my bag to cut myself lose with my pocket knife.”

Was this lady serious?

With a flick of my knife, I cut the rope, and she fell to the floor, her cry of pain piercing the silence.

She struggled to rise, her face etched with pain, but her determination remained unyielding. Meeting my gaze, she pleaded for understanding, her voice a whisper. "I didn't mean any harm. I know this is hard to believe, but I need you to hear me out."

I took in her appearance. She stood about five feet five inches and her black leather trousers clung to her very obvious and full curves. The two first buttons of her jacket came undone and I could see her cleavage.

And then her face… She had an oval shaped face and her beautiful hazel eyes  were staring back at me. Her small rounded lips, as red as rose were parted slightly as she looked at me eagerly.

Wait this lady was actually very very beautiful.

And she was a thief?

A sexy beautiful thief?

No. I had to focus.

“Can you shut up?” I said with my jaw clenched as I grabbed her suddenly placing my knife at the base of her throat.”Who are you and what are you doing here?”

“I am really nobody. No one you have to worry about, really. Just let me go and we can both pretend none of this happened.”

“Are you joking? You had the nerve to come in here and now you’re telling me to forget?”

“You weren’t supposed to be home,Superman”

Her sudden attempt to strike me caught me off guard, her leg swinging towards me with a force.

I staggered back a bit as I watched her free herself from my grip. But in a short moment, I was able to grab hold of her again.

"You thought you could deceive me," I said, my voice cold and measured. "But you underestimated me didn’t you? You think you’d be able to run away so easily?”

She struggled against the restraints, her defiance flaring. It amused me, this futile resistance. "You better let me go this instant,” she warned, her voice defiant.

She tried to hit me with her elbow this time and I swiftly deflected her attack, my grip on her arm tightening. She was bold, thinking she could outwit me, but I was faster, stronger.

I gave her a blow to her head and she crumpled to the floor, her consciousness slipping away. I stood there, watching her, as the room fell into silence once more.

BELLA’s POV

I blinked my eyes open, the haze of unconsciousness slowly fading away. But instead of finding myself in familiar surroundings, I was met with the startling sensation of cold water drenching my body. Gasping, I instinctively tried to move, only to discover that I was tightly bound to a chair. Panic surged through me, and I looked up to find Aaron sitting right in front of me, his expression twisted in a scowl.

"What is the meaning of this? Let me go!" I demanded, agitated.

Aaron's eyes bore into mine, his gaze cold and unforgiving. "You think you can waltz into my home and get away with it?" he spat, "You've crossed the line, missy.”

I struggled against the restraints, the water dripping from my soaked clothes, but they held firm. Desperation welled up within me as I pleaded with him. "Listen, I didn’t come here to harm you or anyone else.”

“Of course you came here to steal because you are a thief aren’t you?”

“No,wait. You gotta listen to me. Listen, the thing here is—“

He interrupted my statement and ignored my pleas, reaching for his phone with a swift motion. "No more explanations," he said, his voice chillingly calm.

He barked at whoever it was on the other end of the line and I figured that it had to be the guards at the gate.

“How could you be so incompetent huh? Is this what I pay you guys for? You were fucking sleeping on duty huh? Both of you?”

He continued angrily, saying some other words I couldn’t even make out before he disconnected the call immediately.

I spoke up, feeling his intense gaze on me,"Those guards you're so quick to blame for sleeping on duty? They're not sleeping. I knocked them out."

His eyes widened in disbelief, his grip on the phone momentarily faltering. "How... how could you do that alone?" he stammered, his voice tinged with astonishment.

A bittersweet smile tugged at the corners of my lips. "I had some company, but they're long gone now," I replied.

It hit me that Ryan had actually abandoned me!

That bastard. He just had to wait till I got out of here and laid my hands on him.

How could he?

Raising his phone to his ear, Aaron's expression hardened. "That doesn't change anything," he said, his voice determined. "I'm calling the cops now and you would have to face the consequences of your actions."

Panic clawed at my chest, the sound of his words echoing in my ears. I watched  as he  pressed the phone to his ear, his intent clear.

“No no no no. Wait! Wait! Please don’t call the cops!”

“And why shouldn’t I do that?” He raised a brow.

“Well because…If you throw me in jail how do I get to help my sick mother?”

“Your sick mother huh?” He didn’t look convinced one bit. I knew I was going to have to try harder.

“Yeah. Believe me. My mother needs surgery urgently. It’s the reason I came to steal from you in the first place. I promise, this was just my only way to get some cash.”

“Really? Why should I believe you? You are a thief after all. And thieves like you are great liars.”

“Not just me but everybody lies but that’s not the point here. I am telling the truth right now. My mother is in critical condition and really needs help so please. I would do anything.”

“And you couldn’t look for an honest job to help pay the bills?”

“I have tried a million times but I am just so unlucky with every job I try out. I keep getting fired and I am not really good at anything else” I explained.

“Except stealing, I see.”

I inhaled.”Look,I didn’t even get to steal anything from you before you caught me. I would cause you no harm so please just let me go?”

He was quiet for a while and kept on staring at me in an intense way that made me uncomfortable.

It felt weird that he was sitting right in front of me and talking to me. I had only seen him a thousand times in magazines, on the internet or television.

I had to admit that he looked way handsome and sexier in person. And taller than I originally thought he was. He had to be around six feet 3 inches.

And even in just a black singlet and grey jogger pants,he looked effortlessly sexy.

I could make out how toned his body was.Why did he look like he was sculpted by the gods?

He possessed a rugged yet refined charm.

His brown glossy hair was in a tousled state and I could make out his tiny nose ring that glinted in the light.

That  perfect perfect face and a beard on his chin complemented his very defined jawline.

That gorgeous honey skin tone.

His piercing blue eyes that seemed to hold some mystery as they stared at me sternly.

He twisted his thin pink lips to the side and I was quick to spot a dimple on the left side of his cheek.

Okay I had to focus on how to get the hell out of there rather than checking out Mr ‘I’m gonna call the cops on you’ out.
