The grey eyed stranger

Mirabelle.

To my relief the school day was over faster than I could think. I had the same Math class as Alicia after lunch break, and when the teacher passed around the papers for the tests we had taken, I could hear her sneer behind me when she glimpsed the perfect score on my sheets.

It was no hidden fact to anyone that I was the Math genius in senior year and all through high school, but that still wasn't enough for anyone to look at me as nothing more than the worthless adopted daughter of the alpha.

"Out of the way runt!" I felt someone bump into me as they rushed down the set of stairs at the entrance of the school, their giggling amongst each other at successfully hitting me over didn't escape my keen ears.

But my anger was quick to disperse when my eyes fell on him.

Coming to a halt in my tracks my heart skipped a beat.

"Tony, can I get a ride?" I heard Eliot, one of his buddies ask as he ran towards Antonio's black van.

"Sure dude, hop in." Antonio turns towards the driver's seat, his dark chocolate eyes inexplicably landed on me from where I stood staring at him like a lovestruck fool.

He smiled, his handsome face brightening even more, my heart was racing now, thudding in my chest in an alarming rate.

This always happened every time he looked at me, every time he smiled at me, it was like he was the only person among a thousand around me who truly saw me, truly knew I exist.

"Would you like a ride? I could drop you home if you want." I heard him call to me.

A few of his friends sneered at the sight of me.

Alarmed at the fact that he was talking to me I suddenly got tongue tied, unable to speak or move from the same spot, but I immediately came back to my senses in order not to look like an idiot in his eyes.

"No, I'm waiting for someone." My reply quietly left my lips.

I saw him nod, then waved at me before getting into his van and he soon drove off.

I sighed watching as the van disappeared from my line of sight.

I'd so badly wanted to say yes and jump into his van if that would mean being around him even just for a short while, but in my flustered state feeling nervous that I'd do something wrong that would make him dislike me I quickly rejected his offer, plus Mom would never let me hear the end of it if the driver were to come to school and not find me, not that I mattered to her, but she would take every excuse to make me feel even more horrible about myself.

I stood outside school grounds, the warm breeze blowing against my grey dress that looked slightly bigger than I was because I'd lost weight due to skipping meals lately.

The driver still didn't come to pick me up even after everyone had already dispersed, so I began walking down the streets trotting my way back to the alpha's mansion with my head down as usual. Occasionally I'd look up when something caught my eye, Bimmerville was a beautiful flourishing city housing the entire pack that had a large population being the biggest werewolf pack in all the lands.

My eyes glimpsed a few flyers on the walls having Alicia's beautiful face on them wearing a pink colored dress and sparkling crown.

'Vote Alicia Donovan for this year's crown of the goddess!'

I couldn't help but think she indeed looked like a goddess in her striking attire.

Every year at the mating gala when each of the youths have identified their mates, a couple will be crowned king and queen, and the queen will be bestowed with the crown of the goddess who will rule as superior over the younger members of the pack and become the grand Luna's aide giving them a big position.

Alicia had always liked getting attention, so I was certain she'd go through lengths to win. As for me, all I wanted on that night was... Antonio Edwards. When he would finally recognize and acknowledge me as his mate, I was hoping it would be me. I'd always felt a connection with him, something in my heart told me it was him, my wolf was always comfortable around him too, perhaps this could be the bond between mates even though the red moon hasn't risen yet.

"Ah!" I wasn't watching where I was going, I didn't notice the shiny black motorcycle zooming away on the road until a splash from the puddle on the road sprayed muddy water on my whole body. "What the..." Shocked and drenched I stood on the side of the road, i whirled around to glimpse a figure in black, he looked mysterious in a smooth black leather jacket and a shiny black helmet, I couldn't help but frown wondering if this person had an unusual obsession with the color black.

Right before the motorcycle could round the bend that led to Lake view street, I caught sight of wild and mysterious grey eyes staring at me from behind the helmet, a chill ran down my spine when I met those eyes, before the rider turned to face the road again leaving me standing like a soaked duck without so much as an apology.

"Hi Mom."

I met her sitting in the soft red couch in the living room, a thin cigar in between her heavily manicured finger while a glass of Ecstasy, a very strong alcoholic drink in the other hand.

She blew out the smoke from the cigar looking at me in revulsion. "Heck you look a mess Mira! How many times have I told you to stop going around looking like an aged woman from a nursing home? You never pass up the opportunity to embarrass me!" She scowled.

Lowering my head I clutched the handle of my bag, I'd stood outside for almost half an hour hoping she wouldn't see me as I walked in, but I guess my luck was terrible as I found her right in the living room, and I definitely wouldn't succeed sneaking past her.

"I'm sorry Mom, I'll go change immediately." I uttered obediently about to hurriedly leave her presence and the dense smell of tobacco in the air. If the alpha were to come back to meet her in this state he would have a fit again and it would result in another fight where Mom claimed he didn't love her anymore because she never gave him a child, while he would end up pacifying her but she still wouldn't stop the smoking and drinking.

"Change into what? One of your mom gowns? You don't have a sense of style." She remarked disinterestedly looking at me up and down as she drew in another mouthful of smoke before puffing it out and adding, "Look at me, I'm the most fashionable woman in the whole of Bimmerville, and not just because I'm the Luna, but because I have a very high sense of style. I don't blame you for not taking after me though, you're not my blood after all."

Her remarks had hit me like a storm, my heart tightening in pain. I knew I was adopted, but I just wished for once she would treat me like her own child, she adopted me, I didn't even know who my real mother was, why couldn't she just at least be a little nice to me?

I slowly dragged my feet, silently deciding to go up to my room when I heard her call me once more.

"Mira. Come here, I'm not done talking to you yet." There was a slight slur in her words and she stood up unsteadily. I wondered how many bottles of Ecstasy she'd had, because werewolves didn't get drunk easily unless from very strong alcohol or too much drinking.

It was only when she stood up that I realized how provocative her outfit looked. Her boobs were almost falling out of the dress, and her beautiful elegant long legs showing.

"Tell me, do you have any boys interested in you?" She suddenly asked.

For a moment, I almost thought she'd become a concerned mother asking for her child's well being.

"None Mom." I replied quietly and she laughed.

"I didn't expect there to be, not with how outrageously you dress, or how you go around with your hair all over your face just to embarrass me." She stared at me deeply, I could see disappointment in her beautiful but hazily drunk eyes, "You are my biggest mistake Mirabelle, I never should have bought you, you've only gone to prove me as a childless and barren Luna for everyone to see, if I had my own child, they would be nothing like you, the blood of your low life parents clearly runs in your veins."

I felt a lump in my throat but I forcefully swallowed it down, it had hurt, more than a dagger slashing my heart. The pain of hearing the woman you grew up calling mother term you her biggest mistake was heart wrenching, but I wouldn't cry, I didn't let the tears fall lest she got displeased again.

Unable to say a word I turned around to march up the stairs but she yanked me back by the arm.

"Come back here, where do you think you're going still wearing that atrocious dress?"

I didn't fight it when she dragged me upstairs to my room, pulling open my closet she began pouring the little number of clothes out, walking to the window she threw them all out.

"From today onwards you will not step out of this house wearing any of those nun dresses. In two weeks it'll be the mating gala, everyone in Bimmerville will be there to watch the youths find their mates, what would they think of me if they saw you as a mess?"

I obediently stood aside as she threw out all my clothes, I had always liked to wear dresses because they were what I felt comfortable with unlike girls my age who wore tight jeans and mini skirts and crop tops.

Mom walked out of my room, but before I could breathe a sigh of relief she came back with a few pieces of clothes in her arms.

"Wear these, and look a little less like an aged old wolf." When I didn't move on time she yelled, "I said wear it."

I flinched and picked up the tiny pieces of clothes she threw on my bed, with arms folded beneath her chest she watched me like a hawk until I walked into the bathroom to go change.

When I raised the clothes up before the mirror I was appalled. It was a see through blue dress with what looked like a lingerie underneath. The little crop top had tiny straps and the shorts looked like they could barely cover my butt.

"How can I go anywhere wearing this?" I questioned myself.

"If you take more than two minutes to come out of that bathroom Mira I swear I'll come in and make you wear those clothes myself."

I heard her commanding voice from my bedroom and I instantly knew I had no choice in this case, knowing she always holds true to her threats I hurriedly wore the outfit.

I put on the crop top and shorts and the see through short dress over it. Looking in the mirror I was slightly shocked. I actually looked...hot, like a slutty in your face kinda hot.

My round butt was almost poking out of the short dress, thankfully I was wearing shorts underneath otherwise my whole butt would be on display. And my boobs were slightly on the smaller side, but they looked perky enough to be considered sexy. Though I knew I had these qualities that girls envied and boys could die for, I'd just always had a low confidence.

I almost forgot the two minutes mom gave me were far over when she came storming into my bathroom. "What the heck is taking you so..." She trailed off, her eyes looked me up and down. I could almost see a glimpse of approval on her face before she scoffed,

"At least now you won't ruin my reputation. Do something about your ugly hair, it looks hideous." Saying that she stormed out, I could hear the flick of a lighter as she lit up another cigarette.

When I was sure she was completely gone, I ran out of my room but my whole closet had been emptied, I looked out to find all my clothes sprawled on the floor outside.

Those were all my comfort clothes, I'd never be comfortable wearing anything this tight fitting out anywhere not to mention school.

Rushing downstairs when I finally made sure she was nowhere in sight I walked out to the yard picking up my clothes one after another.

I'd almost forgotten that I was wearing something revealing as all my mind was focused on picking up my clothes I didn't notice the familiar the jet black motorcycle that stopped a little behind me.

I suddenly jumped when someone smacked my ass. Instinctively I whirled around, my hand moving even before I could think to deliver a harsh slap on the person's face.

I'd already slapped him before my breath stopped when I was met with wild grey eyes on the most handsome face I'd ever seen in my life.
