Chapter 10: Unknown to the Dangers
Faith’s P.O.V
“Morning!” Debby waved at me as soon as I came out of the house with my backpack slung over my shoulders.
“Oh? Looks like you’ve made a new friend!” Aunt Kathy looked towards Debby with a smile as she came out behind me. “I’m glad you two are getting along.”
“All thanks to you, Kathy!” Debby winked at my aunt before slinging an arm around my shoulder. “Would you like to walk to school with me?”
“Of course!” I agreed instantly. “I would love that!”
“Great!” Aunt Kathy clapped her hands together in excitement. “I’ll buy you a bike on my way home from office today. I think the two of you going to school together is better than this old lady dropping you off. What do you think?”
“You don’t need to buy me a bike. I c
Chapter 11: Meeting DavidFaith’s P.O.V Like Debby had mentioned, the library wasn’t all that hard to find. And it was humongous! At this time of the day, there weren’t many students inside, or perhaps I wasn’t seeing everyone since the place was huge. Waving a ‘hello’ to the librarian as I showed her my student ID to get inside, I went straight for the isle that had the books I needed to look into in order to finish my homework. On my way however, I did find tons of other really cool books. There were several encyclopedias on marine life and so many other cool books on sea creatures that I had never seen before. Before I came to Florida, I used to be obsessed with the sea and all the creatures that lived in it; so much that I had actually wanted to study Marine Biology, before realizing just how different a hobby and a degree can be. But that didn’t mean I had to give up o
Chapter 12: Growing a SpineBrandon’s P.O.V“Why were you so rude towards him?”For the first time since I laid eyes on Faith, the scared little mouse, I felt my eyes widen in surprise at the tone of her voice. “Excuse me?”“David was being nice and helpful!” She frowned, her tone a bit deeper, richer…huskier… like she was angry. “And you just came and insulted him! How could you treat others like that?”That had me raising my eyebrows at her in surprise. Looked like the kitty was finally showing some hidden claws. Well…wasn’t this going to be interesting?“What exactly do you even know about David?” I asked her instead. “His background? His character? Anything that would help you determine that he wasn’t a shady guy?”That startled her enough that she shut her mouth, pursing her lips in a wa
Chapter 13: Anything for the PendantFaith’s P.O.V“You want to go where?” Debby’s eyes were wide as she stared at me like she was seeing a ghost.“Shhh!” I pressed a hand to her mouth so no one else would hear her voice, but Debby just swatted my hand away as if swatting a fly.Thankfully, Aurelia and Aura were both sitting on another table with a couple other boys, looking like they were enjoying themselves, so I wasn’t worried about them coming back to our table. Monika, however, was sitting beside us, enjoying the conversation I was having with Debby, because aside from me, Nik was the only other person who knew about Brandon being Debby’s cousin.“Well…I have no idea ‘where’ exactly…” I laughed nervously. “But he said it was the only way he was going to give me back my pendant.”“That son of a-ugh!&rd
Chapter 14: UnexpectedFaith’s P.O.V “Why does this look like a k-kidnapping van?” I asked Brandon in a shaky voice, swallowing my nervousness as I looked around the insides of the black-out van. All the windows were tainted black and the aircon was blasting at high, making the car seem like a mini igloo.“Maybe it is,” Brandon smirked at me, leaning in closer until our noses were almost touching. “You shouldn’t be so trusting, little mouse. Think before you enter someone’s car all alone. What if I was here to kidnap you and do something unspeakable?”I sprang back from him in fear, almost hitting my head on the glass window. “W-will y-you?”Brandon moved away from me while laughing. “Sweet Jesus! You’re more naive than I had expected. You seriously crack me up.”A little confused at what was happening, I nonetheless sat bac
Chapter 15: Accidentally Saving YouFaith’s P.O.V I would’ve fainted. If I hadn't been sitting already and if I hadn't seen that knowing smirk on Brandon’s face…I would’ve definitely fainted.I took the coat from his extended hand, swallowing past the lump in my throat as Brandon turned and left for the shoot where they had set up a fancy sofa on the beach and all the women were gathered around in that area, only in their revealing bikini and perfect bodies.Brandon walked over confidently to the sofa and lay down on it with one of his knees popped up and his hand placed on that raised knee. Another woman went near him then, adjusting the way his shirt remained open and fixing the position of his limbs while another woman was called in to retouch his makeup and hair.I didn’t know why but I didn’t like it. I felt uncomfortable watching the two women put their hands all over him, invading his personal space like it didn’t matter what he felt or not. It wasn’t any different for the wom
Chapter 16: Stolen First KissesFaith’s P.O.V In fiction, I’d often heard the idiom ‘if looks could kill, I’d be six feet under’. Today…I finally understood the meaning of those words as I tried to look at anything in the room but at Brandon.“There, all done.” The doctor stepped away from the bed to put away her equipment and to wash her hands as a nurse helped me down from it.My arm was now all bandaged up and it didn’t hurt anymore, thanks to all the medication I had been given. But what I was worried about most was explaining this to Aunt Kathy. What exactly was I going to say to her?I had told her I’d be spending time with Debby today, instead of Brandon…and if I showed her the wound, I would be indirectly making Debby look bad by making it seem like she wasn’t capable of looking after me or that I wasn’t capable of looking afte
Chapter 17: On the Right Track?Brandon’s P.O.V“Yeah…she’s fine Katherine.” I stood at the entrance to the room, watching my cousin lie through her teeth as she spoke to Faith’s aunt. “She’s sleeping on my bed right now. Do you want me to send you pictures or do you want to come get her?”“What the…” I tried to warn her not to ask her aunt over, in fear that she’d see the bandage on Faith’s hand and she’d know that something was wrong…but Debby turned her back to me, blocking me out as she continued speaking over the phone.“Alright. Thanks, Kathy! I’ll send her over tomorrow after breakfast.” With that, she hung up the phone and turned to face me, her hazel eyes sparking with anger.“What the fuck did you do to her?” Debby’s voice changed in a split second, making me roll my eyes.
Chapter 18: Facing RealityFaith’s P.O.VThe next morning, I had expected to wake up to a sour mood and odd circumstances. I had even expected to find myself in front of my aunt, with her disapproving glances once she found out that I had been hanging out with a boy I hardly even knew. However…what I hadn't expected to wake up to was at Debby’s house, on her bed and looking like a mess fresh out of hell and with Debby staring down at me, looking like she was ready to kill someone.“What…?” I looked up at her groggily, rubbing my eyes to get rid of the last vestiges of sleep. “Why am I here?”“How about you tell me what exactly happened yesterday?” She asked sharply. “You left the house in perfectly fine condition, but now, here you are, bandaged and bruised and Brandon just acted like it wasn’t even his fault!”“It wasn’t.&r
