I loathed hospitals, especially the putrid stench of blood, medicine, and every other nauseating smell. It's why I yanked off the bed covers in an attempt to get out of the bed where I felt suffocated.

I mean, it was just a headache which I could have managed while at home. I didn't have to come to the hospital.

Dulcie was peacefully napping on the sofa at the corner of the room. She wasn't supposed to be with me that late but she offered to stay. I felt happy for having good friends, whom I could rely on. I had learned to like her genuinely.

Standing from the bed, I stretched my hands in then let out a yawn. My joints creaked as a result of the stretch. My injury had been dressed and also I had been injected with some pain relievers. I felt much better.

Pushing the curtains to peek outside, someone entered the room which drew my attention. Dulcie also woke up looking as if she had just had a nightmare.

The intruder was Jake.
