The First Day of High School

Sixteen years of age, Julia Watson gathered herself for the first day of high school. She ran into the shower, threw on her attire, plain black jeans, a crop top with anima designs, grabbed her book bag, and ran downstairs to see her best friend Abigail Mabel waiting for her in the living room. As she tossed her beautiful blond hair to the side, I could tell those curls took her all morning, dark blue jeans with a black Nike crop top hoodie. Looking gorgeous as ever, meanwhile, I look like a 5-year-old that's obsessed with anima, but I just don't really care. I kissed my mom farewell, and we both left for school.

But yet, at the entrance of Julia's dreamed high school Arroyo Valley High, I broke into a sweat, lost my breath, and started to panic. That was when Abigail rested her hand on my shoulder and smiled.

"It's OK we've got this." I nodded my head in assurance and took a deep breath, held my best friend's hand, and we continued our journey into school. Halfway into school, we were greeted with the entire school gazing at us 5 seconds after. After that, everyone proceeded to pay attention to something else. Finally, we bravely approached someone to ask for directions to the office.

"Hi, good morning do you know where I could... Umm." The moment I uttered those words, the person walked off with a disgusted expression on her face. Hence, we both agreed to look for the office ourselves. Just as we were about to head down the hall, we were greeted by a female student. She wore round specs and had her red hair combed nicely into two pigtails, carrying a massive book bag with Pokémon stickers nicely decorated all over it. Her skirt extended to her ankles as she pulled off the expression and attire of Gretchen in recess.

"Hi my name is Olivia Millstone," she said, stretching her hand forward for a proper introduction while still showing her pearly whites.

"Hi my name is Julia and this is my best friend Abigail," I replied, smiling back at her meanwhile Abigail finding her phone more attractive than us.

"I could tell you guys needed some help, so I'm here to offer some assistance," she asked.

"That would be awesome thank you we didn't know where the office was, but we did ask her, but she walked away," I replied.

"Come with me you see that person you spoke to well her name is Sidney falcon she doesn't like talking to people she doesn't know," she replied while heading down the school hall.

"There's a lot of things you don't know about this school especially the people in it maybe during our lunch break I could give you a quick tour of the school how's that sound," she asked.

"That would be great," I replied, trying hard not to sound too excited about the school of my choice.

"Well, here we are," while pointing to the entrance of the office front door. Before we could express our gratitude, she walked off shouting.

"See ya later." We went into the office and were given a piece of paper with our classroom door numbers written on it. But what really got me upset was that Abigail and I weren't going to be in the same class together. We both looked at each other with frustration as we didn't have a choice but to accept it. We embraced one last time and went our separate ways. Halfway outside my classroom door, I froze in fear, scared to enter my class. Then I suddenly remembered what Abigail said before we entered the school, so I took a deep breath, stepped into the classroom, and was greeted with eyes from all over the room. I felt even more nervous than I was before. That was when I heard my name.

"Class we have a new student joining us today Julia Watson please step forward," the teacher stated as her facial expression clearly expressed that she was tired of these god damn children. I felt my heart drop to my stomach as I walked towards the teacher to be introduced to the entire classroom of students staring at me 8% of the students looked extremely friendly, but as for the remaining 12%, they were ready to beat the crap out of me. But as I gazed through the many eyes looking back at me, I saw a pair of eyes that stood out from the rest.
