Before school ended for the day I found myself registering for the Taekwondo and Basketball team. I didn’t want to try out for the cheerleading team anymore if Heather and her mean attitude and side chicks were going to be there. Why bother? As soon as the bell rang for dinner a throng of students squeezed out of the reading hall heading towards the dining. I sat back to wait for the crowd to thin out and told Charlie to go ahead without me because I really wasn’t in the mood to rush for dinner of fish stew and potatoes. Besides I needed to finish my assignments and the new report Annabel assigned to me. As much as I hated her weird attention and her need for entertainment at my expense, I was happy to do the reports because doing them was getting me ahead of the session’s syllabus which means good grades and good grades would make mom and grandma happy. “ Can Jessica Underwood report to the principal’s office please?” The voice came in through the 2 speakers in the wall of the class. I started and looked at Charlie to make sure I heard well. I honestly don’t know who pulled who but soon Charlie and I were marching down the halls to Senior Class 1 to find this Jake of a guy. “You slimy snake!” I bet Heather didn’t see the slap as my hand made contact with her face. The blow was resounding and silence that reigned after it was louder than the noise itself. For a moment Heather simply held her cheek and stared but not for long. She raised her hand to hit me but as she brought her hand down Christian held her hand and yanked it down with such force that she squeaked but my victory was short-lived as Dahlia and Lola both pounced on me.
