Cayden's pov

“Good job.”

The words of encouragement left my mouth, my eyes drew like moths to a fireplace as I looked at Carmen.

I had come to force her to take a rest as she had been in this artistic room of hers for days but now…

I would be a sinner to let such creativity be interrupted.

“Thanks.” Carmen turned with a smile, her smile shot straight through my heart.

Her dark silky hair packed up in a bun, a home knitted blue jacket, denim shorts and boots.

“Your reasons are ingenious, I knew

Silas povWe reached the abandoned cave; moisture dripped from the cave right to my cheeks.“When we see your mother, what are we going to do? Why do you think she called us?” Chloe whispered to me, her hands automatically locked in my arms.I shoved her aside, disgust filling my senses. “Who was the person urging me to come here in the first place? Now you are scared?”Chloe frowned and threw off my hands that she was stubbornly clenching, her eyes filled with contempt.“Loser,” she said, loud enough for me to hear as she stormed away from me. Not a trace of hesitation in her steps.I ignored her, my hands clenched underneath my large coat to hide the trembling of my fingers.Chloe was right about something. I was a coward; I was scared, I was terrified, and I wished I could be anywhere except this place.Unfortunately, there were things that we could never run away from. I took a deep breath and chased after Chloe; the thought that someone was in front of me comforted me a bit.Afte

Silas' povThe bloodied letter on my desk took the smile and confidence that I thought that I had gained. As I watched the bloodied letter, it felt like a hand was repeatedly smacking my face.“Why don't you just die?” I stared hard at the letter as if my stare could end the life of whoever wrote the letter.“What's the matter?” My assistant, my capable Beta, said as he leaned to look at my letter.“Stop that.” I held the letter, encasing its contents with my hands. This Beta was good in every aspect, but he was too nosy. Nosy, curious people always did not last.“Yes.” My Beta bowed low, his voice apologetic. “I just wanted to share the burden of my Alpha.”His sincere plea touched my heart; it had been so long since anyone ever looked at me or talked to me in such a manner.Carmen used to do it, but after I betrayed her, she became a shadow of herself. I still missed her, always would miss her.“You should understand that some things are not to be known by you; you stand the risk of

Cayden's POV“You were saying…” I gestured, telling him to talk more. The gateman wailed on the floor, thrashing about like a worm that got salted.“Arrest them; kill them all.” His face twisted with malice as he commanded his guards.“Stand down.” Jaime took out his seal of command. He might not be the general in charge of this fort, but as a general, he had the right to ask guards to stand down. The guards had an order of hierarchy; they must stand down when their superior commanded them.I had confidence in my face as I stared at the guards. Any moment from now, they should immediately kneel and accept the order from Jaime, but seconds passed, and all I got was a bewildered silence from the guards.“Jaime…” I called out to Jaime, looking at the seal in his hands. It was the original seal of the Logan family; even a common Omega on the streets of the capital should know this. How come soldiers drafted by military law had no clue?“Which general has this fort?” I asked Jaime. “Who el

Cayden's POVSarah!“Hmm, that damn Voss family?” Jaime would not miss this for the world. He already had a lot of things to say about Sarah, and this allegation was just icing on the cake.“Well, that's settled then. We have to investigate Sarah before anything else,” Silver said from the side.“So Jade's gone, Carmen's gone, and Leo is gone. Are you sure you don't want to leave as well? In that way, everyone that changed my life would be gone.”“I would not be gone; I am stuck right here with you.” Jaime nudged my shoulders. This was the second time he was doing this.“I said those who changed my life. You have done nothing to my life.”Jaime had no retort to that; he took a long glance at me and turned away.“You want me to leave?” Silver replied to the question. “If you want me to leave, I can leave. If you don't want it, I would never leave.”A barely noticeable sigh of relief passed through my lips when I heard Silver say that. “Hmm, who wants you to leave?”I snorted arrogantly

Cayden's POVThe space closed up, Carmen's deep blue eyes staring longingly at me until the portal closed up.“She's gone,” Silver whispered in my ears, his hands on my eyes.“Get out.” I shook his hands off my face.“Cool, we get to have time all to ourselves. Discuss issues we could not discuss in the presence of…“Get out!” Silver shoved Jaime aside. The interaction brought a smile to my face. We had all faced today with tragic faces; the slightest hope of ever returning back was non-existent in our minds. To think we made it without any casualties. We sit around and we are making fun of each other, cracking jokes, and playing rough.Life was really not difficult!“Hmm.” A weak groan sounded from the side. Leo was just about to wake up.“Really?” Jaime looked at the source of the sound. “I had really forgotten about him.”Jaime looked embarrassed as he rushed to help Leo up. I just stared at Silver, the same embarrassment visible on our faces.Nobody even remembered him at all. The

Carmen's POVAmanda continued her fake wailing. Her tears fell like pearls, capable of attracting even the most cold-blooded humans.A pity. We were not humans! We were not even gods; we were just creatures… of the moonlight!Wolves!“Stop your dumb act! You think I don't know you are trying to stall for time?” Silver shut Amanda up with one sentence. That ever-pitiful woman a while ago now stared at Silver, annoyed. “So what? You all are going to be dead soon.”“After that, I will personally curse you again; this time, curse you to love me.” Amanda hissed at Silver, her obsession still overflowing in her gaze.“At least you know loving you is a curse.” Silver sneered, wiping off the grin on Amanda's face.“Just you wait.” Amanda turned her face angrily, her hands folded against her chest.“Wait? For what? Amanda, it is time you pay for your crimes, and by pay, I mean pay,” Jade said, her face filled with certainty.Amanda's arrogance finally faded along with Jade's words. “You cannot

Cayden's povBy the time we returned from the auction hall, night had already fallen. The city lights flickered beautifully outside the car windows, but my mind remained entirely elsewhere.Silas.That idiot actually bought the cursed Land. For three billion dollars. Even now, I still found it unb

Carmen's POVThe walk back to the museum was painfully silent. Cayden seemed so lost in thoughts, but for some reason, it felt like he was subtly protecting me, by always being a step behind me.We finally reached the end of our mentally draining journey, to see the guards already stationed, waitin

Carmen's POVIt did not take long to get to the veil of darkness. The seamless invisible veil was as regal as usual, standing tall as it reached the heavens. As I stared at the veil, I sighed, because this was my second time near the veil. The first time, I was still a young naive bride, eagerly ru
