4. Sunshine

Bane Adolf

My brother had definitely ran mad. With his actions of abducting my mate from her home, he had totally lost it.

“Why did you abduct my mate from my home?” I asked with so much anger, pinning him to the wall with my hands around his neck.

“What are you talking about, Bane? We both know I'm still searching for your mate,”

“Lies! Tell me you didn’t know Audrey was my mate all these while,” I breathed out. He didn’t reply me.

“Answer me!” I exclaimed. I could hear him grunt out. “I-I can’t breathe, B-ane,” I instantly let him go. He dropped to the floor, immediately.

“I didn’t know Audrey was your fucking mate. If I did, I could have brought her to you since. But, guess the package comes in two. She's your presented and mate too,” He said.

In my pack, there was a tradition of a female being presented to me, the Alpha, at the beginning of every December. The female was to remind the pack of how a woman betrayed us to the death of many in war.

Bianca, my ex-girlfriend had loved Christmas and everything about it. She had been an epitome of Santa Claus himself. But the moment she betrayed us, I de-announced Christmas because that was the same day my mum and dad had died.

Since that very day, I had ran the pack with the help of Thomas and Samantha, my little bitchy sister.

“You won’t speak of Audrey like that. What was it that her family did to you this time?” I asked ferociously.

“Her father borrowed a great deal of money he couldn’t pay back, Bane. She was the leverage that’s why I took her,” Thomas explained.

Just as I wanted to say another word, Samantha walked in the door. “Greetings, brothers. As always, at each other’s neck.” She commented and sashayed in her dark outfit towards where we stood. My pack wore only dark clothes because we didn’t celebrate parties of good news. The only thing we celebrated was doom. Doom of other packs.

“You have no idea what your brother has done, Sam.”

“None of it were my intentions, Bane,” Thomas defended.

“I don’t wanna hear it! What is this I hear of a girl from Snow ball pack being your mate, Bane?” She asked.

My head directed towards her gaze. I walked towards her, with my Alpha power. I could feel her shiver from where she stood. I knew she was definitely scared of me but was reluctant to show it. There was a reason people called me the Beast.

“Her name’s Audrey, Sam. It would help if you accord her with respect next time,” I spoke, looking directly at her eyes. She immediately looked down, submitting to the Alpha power I radiated.

“Oh, I will, Bane. You two should just stop fighting. Since your mate has shown up, I think you should make her want to stay. Don’t make her want to leave,” She expressed. It was then something dawned on me.

Did Audrey want to leave?

Audrey Miller

I only had little belongings to pack to Bane's room. At first, I was reluctant but the Omega s made me realize that I absolutely had no choice or whatsoever and that since it was the Alpha's orders, it was law.

They had also explained how happy they were that I turned out to be their Alpha’s mate. They told me their names which were Charlie and Sarah. Making me to believe that I was going to save their pack from the wrath of the Moon Goddess and also bring back Christmas, they said they would be forever indebted to me as their Luna.

Bane's room was a reason for one to miss home. He had painted it with dark colors and for some weird reason, the curtains were closed. Instead of breathing fresh air, it was all AC I inhaled. The first thing I did was to switch off the air conditioner. Next, I opened the window and breathed in the fresh air that blew from outside.

“This is life,” I muttered to myself. I had examined my hands which had been tied with silver chains. My wolf had pitied me and healed it because none of it was my fault in the first place.

Still, my body felt dirty and unclean. I went inside the bathroom and took off my clothes. I examined where I had entered. The bathroom was surprisingly white which made me breathe in relief because most places in this pack were painted with dark colors. It looked like the one I saw in the movies. A big and magnificent one with beautifully created materials.

It was a normal habit of mine to listen to music with my phone while I was bathing. But my phone was no where to be found. I had dropped it on the bed before I was abducted.

So, I sadly entered the shower with no music. I instead recited a poem by William Shakespeare, “Shall I compare thee to a Summer’s day? Thou at more lovely and temperate…” I trailed out.

The minute I had finished freshening up, I came out if the bathroom, with Bane's robe on. It would be a miracle if he didn’t complain about it.

I continued the poem I had recited in the bathroom. It was one of my favorite Shakespeare's piece.

“So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see…” I trailed out, staring in the mirror, at my reflection.

“So long this lives, and this gives live to thee.” Someone completed from my back. I looked towards the direction the voice was coming from. Surprise hit me at that point.

Bane.

How was it possible?

“I didn’t know you read poems?” I asked, straightening my hair at the mirror.

“I presume there's a lot we don’t know about each other,” He replied briefly. I could see the way his eyes directed to his robe on my body. It darkened. He was definitely getting angry.

“Yeah, sorry I used your robe. I just don’t have anything here to call my own,”

“Figuratively, you do. It’s all here, me,” He constructed. I rolled my eyes at his words.

“I’m being serious, Bane. I really need to get my stuffs from my pack,” I made out, hoping he would consider what I've just said.

“I won’t allow you to go back to your pack, you will stay here with me,” Bane revealed. He folded his arms with lots of defiance. His muscles bulged as he spoke. I silently wondered how it really felt to touch them.

“I just want to get my stuffs. I’m not running off, you know,” Just as I said that, he came to me. With his gaze locked in mine, he said, “You would be given a phone. With that, you can call whoever want to. They should bring their stuffs here,” He said.

I knew I had just breathed out a lie. I was definitely going to run away from here the moment I got the opportunity to. But, I was not about to tell him that obviously.

“Ok, what phone would I be making use of?”

“My brother will bring it to you. He would apologize at the way he treated you, sunshine,” He said.

“Why do you call me sunshine?” I asked. No one had ever given me a nickname before. He would be the first person to do that. Except when Damon annoyingly called me bambina. I've always hated being called that.

Sunshine? I liked that. I loved the way it rolled on his tongue. “Because the first time I saw you, sunshine was seeping through your hair, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” He said. My heart fluttered at how sincere his words looked. Yet, for all I knew, all might not be what it appeared to be.

“Can I make the phone call when I dress up?” I asked him. His gaze directed to my body. I could see the way his eyes scanned through my body. Was this what mates did?

Cause I could feel my wolf jump up with excitement at his gaze.

“Yeah,” His American accent was still very much present. I quickly went into the closet with his clothes in my hand.

What the freaking hell just happened?

•••

When I came out of the closet, I had expected to see Bane seated somewhere but he was no where to be found.

“It took you long enough!” I looked at the direction the voice was coming from. It didn’t surprise me when I saw who it was.

That stupid Beta who had abducted me from my home and bound me in chains.

Thomas.

“And, I would believe that’s your perfect way of apologizing for what you did, Thomas,” I replied him with some courage. “I won’t apologize to you, Audrey. I don’t do apologies and I won’t change my standards for someone like you,” He said, with defiance, looking at me irritably.

“Then how about I tell Bane about how much of an ass you are?” I asked, wanting to test waters. I wanted to see if he was afraid of Bane, like I suspected.

“You don’t have to. Okay, I'm sorry. Satisfied?” He asked me. My mouth curved into a smile, knowing he had just apologized for how he had treated me. A part of my respect had just come back somehow.

“And the phone?” I asked. He immediately reached for his pocket. The next thing he did was unlock it and give me.

“Bane ordered me to stay right when you make the call. He doesn’t want you to plan your own escape because of a mistake from our side,” He explained.

A part of me almost died down.

How long were they going to keep me here? I don’t want to spend my whole life not going to school. I wanted a life a normal teenager would have. I wanted to be with my friends, party, be a re-knowned poet.

“Just try not talking, please. I wouldn’t want Britney to hear your manly voice in background,” I said, glaring at him as the phone rang. I had decided to call my b.f first. I wanted her to help me with my stuffs and not Chris.

She picked the call.

“Hello, stalker. I'm not taking calls from my followers today,” She said from the other side. I could hear Thomas chuckle at what she had just said.

“Britney! This is Audrey. I need your help with something,” I shouted over the phone. I didn’t want her to hang the phone up at me.

“What?! Audrey? Hey, guys. It’s Audrey,” I heard her call the other of my clique from the phone. “What Audrey? Audrey?!” I heard some of their voices. I could tell Genesis, Cole and Tyler were all there.

“Audrey? How have you been? Your brother told us you went to live with your grandma because she was sick. Why didn’t you inform us before you left?” Someone asked me. I could tell it was Genesis from the husky voice. “Yes, Audrey,” The others hummed in support.

Why the hell had my brother lied to them about what had happened?

“I-I’m really sorry, guys. Things just went out of my control,” I said, looking at Thomas who was holding a threatening glance at my direction.

“And your calls? Why didn’t you pick them?” Britney asked. I searched for anything I could say. “Err… I left my phone behind. Guys can you give the phone to Britney. I kind of want to tell her something important,” I asked them.

“Yeah, sure,” One replied. It was like I could see them nod in support at me. “Hello, Aud,” It was Britney. I had really missed her big time. This made me hold my chest. I had to stop myself from shedding tears in front of my sworn enemy, Thomas.

“Yeah, Brit. I would be needing you to bring my stuffs here for me, can you do that?” I asked her. “Uhm, yeah. Didn’t you carry your stuffs before?” She asked.

“Actually, I wasn’t able to. I would tell you everything once you show up. Don’t forget to also pick up my phone and Blue,” I urged, reminding her of the necessities.

“Okay, then.” She replied.

“Yeah, when would you be coming?” I asked her.

“Maybe by tomorrow, Saturday, since there’s no school,” She replied.

“Then I guess I should go. Bye!!”

“Yeah, bye,”

Britney replied.

I hung up and looked directly at Thomas. He was already seated on the sofa, tapping his foot impatiently at my call.

“Can I have my phone now?” He asked me. I nodded with a “no”, knowing I still had to call Chris and ask him if the condition at home and why he had lied about me being at my grandma’s place.
