18- Comparing Options

As much as I wanted to celebrate my victory tonight with the recovered money and praise from Rebecca’s father, I was so tired from everything and had such a headache from staring at the computer screen all day long that I just wanted to go home and lay down. Celebrating can wait.

I drove to my apartment and flopped onto the bed immediately, not even bothering to get changed. I looked down at what I was wearing: jeans and a long-sleeve shirt. It reminded me that I had napped with Harrison earlier in this same outfit before getting the call from Milo to head to the office. I grabbed the neckline of the shirt and lifted it to my nose, only to smell the faint scent of coconut still lingering there. It was barely noticeable, but I caught it, and it made the corners of my lips curl up.

I turned my head to my nightstand and saw the two framed photos that were propped up there. One was of Rebecca and me on the night that I had “proposed” with the backdrop of the city behind us, and
