Salvatore

“What the fuck is this, Salvatore?” Leonardo growls, throwing the tablet on the table.

“You had one fucking job to do. And you blew it up because of a girl?” He growls at me; I rub my brows.

“I didn’t blow it up. She is just not…” I want to explain to him, but reasoning with Leo is like trying to reason with an angry bull.

“I don’t fucking care. You had one job, and you blew it!” he snaps as I sigh heavily, clenching my jaw, grinding my molars.

“I’m getting tired of this shit, Salvatore! It’s either you fucking grow up or—”

“Or what? You’ll kill her? You will—” I ask him as he halts his pacing, then turns to me. “You know the two of them can never be together. She is the reason—”

I burst out laughing, shaking my head. “You always say that, but you failed to prove it.”

He sighs heavily, coming closer. “Listen, Brother. I know you don’t believe me when I say this. But everything I do is in your best interest,” he insists, but I know the fucking truth. He is a selfish prick who will do anything to stay Alpha King, even betraying his own brother.

“Best interest? Let’s cut the bullshit, Leonardo. The only reason you do half of the shit you do is so you remind me who you fucking are,” I growl, and he tilts his head, regarding me.

“You’re my beta, Salvatore. You should know better. You fucking trend everywhere for the fucking wrong reasons.” He retorts. “Just like tonight”

“Tonight was—”

“Enough!” he cuts in. “We had a deal. Don’t make me go back on my word.”

“Are you threatening me right now?” I knit a brow, and he sighs heavily, shaking his head. “I’m just telling you. Keep the end of your bargain.” He says, taking out his phone, which is ringing.

“Your position is in trouble. The elders think you’re not the right man for the position. I need you to do this, brother,” he says, putting back the phone in his pocket.

“My position?”

“Yes. I need you as my beta, Salvatore. But the elders are getting wary. If there’s no change, they are thinking of giving it to Kane,” he says, his voice low. Now that’s the shit I won’t let happen.

“Why? The guy is a prick!”

“He is a family man. They think he will make a better Beta,” he says, and I scoff. “And you would give him the alpha position at Ravenwood?” I ask.

He doesn’t need to say it because I can see it in his eyes. I shake my head. “That’s my mother’s pack! You can’t—”

He chimes in. “I know. You think I would want to give our mother’s pack to some asshole whose family is responsible for what happened?” he asks, his voice cracking.

“I don’t know Leo. I don’t know who you have become since you became Wolf King.”

He comes closer, his hand gripping my shoulder. Years ago, I would have gone in for a hug because he was the only person I trusted, but now? Not so much.

“I need you to do better. Meet Diane for dinner. Try to…”

“I’m not marrying just to keep my mother’s pack.”

“She was also my mother, Salvatore. I care about that pack just like you do, and sometimes we have to make decisions we hate.” He says, moving away from me.

“You need to take a mate. If you plan on staying as the alpha of Ravenwood, you need a wife. Otherwise, everything we have worked hard to get here will be in vain,” he says as I sigh heavily.

“Marrying Diane will be a mistake.”

“I know. But think of everything we’re working towards,” he says as I clear my throat. I can’t lose my mother’s pack. It’s the only reason I keep going after Jules was taken away from me.

“I’ll give you some time.” He says, then starts walking out of my hotel suite. He holds the doorknob, turning to me.

“Who was that human girl?” He asks me as I sigh heavily.

“No one of importance. Just—”

He cuts in. “No one of importance? Did she see you in your form?” He asked, and I stiffened.

Not her. I don’t even know the fucking girl, but when she looked at me with those fucking big brown eyes, something happened in me.

“She did. But it’s complicated.”

He narrows his eyebrows. “You know we need this alliance to work. The research is important not just for us but for the people who are out there feeling—”

  I cut in. “I know”

Just like mom. She is the reason we started this research after all. Why I tolerate this asshole.

“Stay out of the limelight. I need to head back to the city. Can I trust you to handle this?” he asks me, and I nod.

“I will handle it.”

“Great. Keep your cock in your trousers. And you can handle the girl. If she needs to be paid off, do that,” he says, then walks away. I know what he means; humans are not to be trusted. I saw the way her eyes looked at him and me when she found out who I was.

After what I saw earlier, Leonardo might be right, and I fucking hate it when he is right. He once warned me about it, and I didn’t believe him. I’ll need to pay her off or something so that she doesn’t use that against me in the future.

“That sounded fucking intense.” My gamma and best friend, Paul, says when he steps out into the room.

“Well, he wants me to meet Diane.”

“That’s no surprise. We both know they have been pushing for her to become your wife,” he says, plopping down on the couch. “Did he give you a time frame?”

“Well, no. But I feel at the next Alpha meeting they will be announcing a new alpha for Ravenwood,” I say, my heart beating fast. It’s my inheritance they want to take away from me.

“That’s less than three weeks from now.”

“I know. That’s why he insists on Diane.” I rub my brows, walking towards the window. There’s so much I will be losing if they take away my position. I won’t be able to protect her. Her. The reason I tolerate all this shit.

“What are you thinking?” Paul asks behind me.

I sigh heavily. “I’m thinking about what to do. I can’t lose my position. I wouldn’t—”

He cuts in, coming closer. “And you won’t. Just find a fucking woman who is willing to stay by your side. A lot of women would kill to be called Mrs. Pavard.”

“I know. But let’s be honest, whichever pack I choose from. It will eventually go back to her. I don’t want to…I can’t mate another woman,” I shake my head. I made a vow, and I intend to keep it.

“Well, find someone you can’t mate with. Offer them something they can’t turn down.” He says to me as I narrow my eyebrows.

“Are you…”

“Humans are desperate. I can come up with a list and…”

“No, don’t.”

“Salvatore,” he whispers.

“Don’t worry. I got this.” I smile weakly. I have the right person in mind for this. This might actually work.

  • The Beta's Contract Mate   A Happy Life

CamilleThey say everyone we meet has lessons to offer. And for me, I learnt so many things in the few years I have lived on this earth. For me, my young sister taught me how to be selfless. How to love unconditionally and never have regrets. And I have lived and loved her every single day since I met her when she was two years old.Ten months ago, my father’s pack and Leonardo sat down and resolved the conflict that had been between the two packs for years. It turned out they blamed Leonardo for an attack he knew nothing of. The two packs have signed a treaty, and Caleb no longer hates Leonardo.“Are you feeling?” Callum asks as he waits with me outside the room where I’m being interviewed.“I don’t know. I have to convince people who probably don’t already like me that I’m good for this because my brother put in a good word for me,” I retort, tapping my foot while waiting outside. He clasps his hand over mine, then looks at me. He didn’t put in a good word. He was just…”“Callum, d

  • The Beta's Contract Mate   Terminated Contracts

CamilleIt’s been two days since I was rejected by Leonardo. Everything feels normal, but there’s a void in my chest. Everything, I feel like I’m missing something, and I don’t know what it is.I paid a visit yesterday to Olivia just to check on her recovery, and she’s doing better. When I spoke to Paul, I found out he was just working undercover to find out who was behind Jenna’s rebellion, and it turns out half of the council didn’t want Leonardo as Alpha. They claimed he was too diplomatic.I stand outside watching El run around the lawn with an omega who will be her nanny for now, before Callan assigns us a permanent one.“A penny for your thoughts?” Callan asks when he comes to stand next to me, hands crossed over his chest.“I’m just thinking I would love a really nice burger with a thick shake and loaded fries,” I say to him, and he laughs, shaking his head.“And this has nothing to do with some dark-haired Alpha?” he asks me as I chuckle, shaking my head.“Nope. It doesn’t. Th

  • The Beta's Contract Mate   Leonardo's Rejection

Camille“Leonardo,” I cry, holding on tight to him as Salvatore shifts into his human form, walking towards us, dropping to his knees.“Brother,” he whispers, trying to touch him.“We need to get him to a doctor,” he says, hoisting his brother on his shoulders as I hold on tight to El, who won’t stop crying. I didn’t think my day would ever end like this. My mother ripped apart, limb by limb, and Leonardo was dying on me. I get up to my feet when the tawny wolf comes again, as I pause, looking at it. I don’t know if it’s an enemy or foe.“Hey. It’s me,” Maree shifts back into her human form, lifting her hands as I close my eyes, taking a deep breath as she comes towards me.“Thank you”“Come on. It’s over. Let’s head back home,” she says. I sniffle back, holding on tight to El as she leads me back to the warehouse.Cory shows up on the way when we get to the warehouse. Callan walks towards me with everyone else behind him.“Are you okay?” He asks, his eyes traveling down my body as I

  • The Beta's Contract Mate   Protect Her

Camille“No!” I scream, checking the back of the car, but El is gone.“Camille,” Her voice screams, and I look at Leonardo, who's fighting Jennna. I turn towards where El’s voice is coming from, I grab the gun, and make a run for it.“Camille, no!” Paul’s voice comes behind me, but I’m running as fast as I can deep into the woods. I don’t have good vision like the normal wolves, so I follow the sound of El’s screams.I run as fast as my feet can carry me towards them. When I see my mother and Aidan running, I lift my gun and aim for my mother. I fire two shots just past them, and both of them stop in their tracks, turning to look at me.My heart pounds so hard, and my hand trembles. I have never used a gun before, but I will fucking kill them for taking her from me.“Put her down,” I order as I get closer to them, my chest rising and falling as I get closer to them.“I won’t ask again.”“You can’t shoot me. I’m your mother,” she says as I chuckle, softly shaking my head. “You ceased t

  • The Beta's Contract Mate   War

Camille“How could you?” The words leave my lips. I don’t know what hurts the most. Knowing that I was married because of her, to protect her, or because Paul is the last person I expected to see Salvatore. This is why everything never worked out for Tore. I inhale sharply, nodding my head.“You’re an asshole, you know that, right?” I ask him, and he laughs, shaking his head. “I’m tired of being led by those backless assholes. Ruining everything because of some bitch like you,” he growls as I shake my head. This must be a mistake. Paul would never betray Salvatore. They are sworn enemies.“Listen, babe. We need to move. Salvatore just sent a message that they are moving,” he says to Jenna, kissing her cheek as I open my mouth, unable to believe what’s unfolding before me. These two are lovers.“Why?” I ask Jenna, who walks up to me, a smile playing on her lips.“To be fair, Leonardo is the reason for all of this. If only he had let me marry Salvatore, we wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t b

  • The Beta's Contract Mate   Betrayal Stings

Camille“Where are you taking me?” I ask the man who took me from the pack house, and he laughs.“Do you think we are stupid? That we don’t know that fucking asshole reads your thoughts?” he spits, his voice laced with so much venom. The smell of rot and cigarettes hit my nostrils as he continued to drive further out of the pack compound. My heart races as I look at him. They never bothered to check if I had a bag on me. That omega just led me out of the house. I quickly hid my phone in my pants while she walked ahead of me, leading me out of the pack house. Now I needed to find a way to communicate with whoever was on this phone. And I prayed it was on silent mode.“I thought she would be something special,” the man on my left laughs as I glance at him, then focus ahead. When we get into what seems like a warehouse, they drag me out of the car as my head races, thinking of what might happen to me.Is my mother really here? I swallow hard as they nudge me forward, and I walk, my feet
