CHAPTER THREE

Mireya’s POV

When I opened my eyes this morning, the only thing I thought about was my best friend’s baby shower, but a lot had happened in just a few hours that everything I believed in crumbled to the ground.

But even after this glaring truth, I still didn’t want to believe that Corvin would actually throw what we had away. I knew he would come back to beg me, and I would give him another chance if he begged sincerely.

Does that make me pathetic? I thought as I shook my head and walked out of the hospital, my head bandaged even though I had told the nurse I didn’t need it. I was certain Ava would heal me.

“And where am I going to go?” I mumbled as I looked at the starry night.

For the first time in the four years I had been married to Corvin, I didn’t want to go back to the house we shared. I knew it would feel too suffocating since I would constantly be reminded of his betrayal, but I had no choice.

I didn’t have anyone else to turn to.

My parents were dead, and my brother was my only surviving relative.

My brother had never supported the union, but after his car accident that left him in a coma, I had no one else to lean on except Corvin.

That eventually led to our marriage.

But after we got married, I fell seriously ill for a long time and had to take a leave from the company. I delegated my duties to Corvin, and seeing how well he handled things, I decided to trust him completely. That decision helped elevate his status within the pack.

As the only omega in a family of Alphas, Corvin had never been highly regarded, but managing my father’s company gave him leverage.

I never had a reason to doubt his loyalty. Until today.

“Or maybe all of this is just a misunderstanding,” I breathed as I stepped into the house, but the silence inside mocked me.

How could I have the truth right in front of me and still remain in denial? How had I become this pathetic?

“I’m going to wait for him to come and explain himself,” I muttered as I sent a text to his phone, asking him to return home immediately or our marriage would be over.

I waited patiently in the living room, my eyes blurry with tears as I tried not to let his betrayal tear me apart.

And that was how I remained there until the next morning.

Corvin never showed up. I picked up my phone again to look at the message I sent and saw that he had read it.

Then why? Did he truly want to end this marriage?

“That’s not possible, I’m sure... ” I was saying when I suddenly heard the front door open.

Corvin stepped into the house. He looked refreshed, like he had changed into another set of clothes, and compared to my gaunt appearance, he looked perfectly refined.

“Where are you coming back from, Corvin Blackwood?” I asked as I rose from my seat, but he only gave me a mocking smirk.

“You definitely know where I’m coming from. You’re not dumb, are you?” he blurted, and I felt my teeth grind together in anger.

“How dare you... ”

“Let’s divorce and save each other this pointless talk,” he cut in coldly, and I instantly felt defeated.

“What? How could you... ”

“Since you aren’t my fated mate, I don’t think I have any obligations toward you,” he said.

My chest tightened painfully as Ava writhed in pain inside me, almost as though she sensed something terrible was coming.

I needed to stop this.

“You don’t have any obligations?” I growled, my anger simmering dangerously. I could feel myself slowly losing control as my wolf threatened to take over, but shifting now would only make things messier.

Ava had already been deeply hurt by Corvin’s recent actions. I didn’t want to put her through more pain.

“What do you mean?” Corvin asked in a grave voice, and I scoffed bitterly.

“You know you are nothing without my money, so how dare you say something like that?” I snapped before shaking my head at my own stupidity for trusting a man so blindly.

I had handed my father’s company over to Corvin so he could gain standing within his family because he was never respected after being born to one of the Blackwoods’ illegitimate sons.

I stepped aside so he could run the company alone and prove his worth to his family.

And after everything I sacrificed for him, this was how he repaid me.

I took a gamble on a boy, hoping he would become a man, only to realize I could never turn him into something he was never meant to be.

I was so stupid.

“Is that what we’re doing now, Mireya?” he asked with a wicked chuckle.

I frowned at him because he was always up to no good whenever he laughed like that.

“Then maybe I should remind you that I’m no longer that disposable boy,” he said.

Not long after, several officers suddenly walked into the house.

“What’s going on?” I asked in confusion.

“You are under arrest, Mrs. Blackwood, for the embezzlement of company funds,” one of the officers said.

I was too stunned to speak as they handcuffed me and started reading me my Miranda rights.

Company funds?

But I had stepped down from management years ago.

What was happening?

“Have you people lost your minds? Where are you taking my wife?” Corvin suddenly shouted, and relief briefly flooded me because I thought he was defending me.

“Call the legal team and... ” I started saying, but Corvin abruptly silenced me by pulling me into a tight hug.

“Just go with them, Mireya. Stop resisting so much,” he whispered.

Goosebumps spread across my skin immediately because I could hear the pure hatred in his voice.

Could it be that I wasn’t overthinking this after all?

“I spent so much time getting them here today, so be a good girl,” he whispered close to my ear. “And you seem to have forgotten something earlier, Mireya. You are no longer the spoiled rich heiress. You’re just my wife… a wife I already stripped of her power.”

He stepped back afterward and instructed the officers to take me away, but I couldn’t fully process his words.

I kept turning back to look at Corvin, unable to believe that the man I married could actually be behind something like this.

But Corvin only smiled. And that smile terrified me. If Corvin had truly set me up like this… then did that mean everything had been part of a grand scheme from the very beginning?

And had I simply been a pawn in his game all along?

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SEVENSERENA'S POVIt's been a week since I ran away from the hospital after abandoning the baby. I've had only one thing on my mind ever since... revenge. And today is finally the day. I stood quietly at the corner of the grand hall, dressed in an usher's uniform, blending effortlessly with the other staff. Mireya's engagement ceremony was in full swing. The engagement had been announced shortly after the fire outbreak incident, and the news had spread throughout the pack. The mere thought of her celebrating while I was left to suffer made my blood boil. How dare she smile? How dare she dream of a happy future while my own life had fallen apart? My fingers curled into fists as I watched her from afar. Despite the elegant smile on her face, I noticed the subtle discomfort in her expression. She kept shifting her weight and forcing smiles at the guests. Good. It wouldn't be long now.The ceremony had only just begun, and the Alpha's assistant was person

The thought refused to leave me alone, circling endlessly in my head no matter how hard I tried to push it aside. My jaw tightened, and I clenched my fists unconsciously as suspicion grew stronger with every passing second. The more I replayed everything that had happened, the clearer it became that this wasn't a random attack. Someone had planned it carefully, and deep down, I couldn't shake the feeling that I already knew who was behind it.I drove quickly toward the vacation house where Stephanie had been staying ever since the confrontation with my uncle. The engine roared as I pushed the car harder than necessary, my fingers tightening painfully around the steering wheel. My thoughts were in complete chaos, replaying the news of the fire over and over again until my chest felt unbearably heavy. The moment I

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVEKARL'S POVWe stared at each other, and instead of stopping, we continued kissing, forgetting all our worries in the world. Without realizing it, I started taking off my clothes while she removed her blouse, leaving herself in only her blue bra. I kissed her slowly from her lips down to her neck, then lower to her chest. I removed her bra completely, giving me the full view of her beautiful, perky breasts. Her nipples were so hard, standing proudly, almost screaming and begging to be sucked. Unable to resist, I claimed her breasts in my mouth one after the other, sucking them while my hands squeezed them gently, drawing endless moans from her lips. Every soft whimper and shaky breath only fueled my desire, yet neither of us cared about the possibility of getting caught. I waited for her to stop me, to remind me that my sister could arrive at any moment, but she didn't. Instead, she only breathed harder, her fingers slipping into my hair as her b

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FOURKARL'S POV“I've been working so hard. I've never truly smiled from the bottom of my heart since I was little, but the only woman in my life suddenly got sick. I finally managed to pay the doctor, and her treatment has already begun.” Nancy lowered her gaze, forcing a fragile smile that failed to hide the exhaustion in her eyes. Her fingers twisted nervously in her lap as though she was trying to keep herself from breaking apart. “I really wish everything goes according to plan. I don't want her to get sick ever again. I'm scared... that's why I've been looking so sad.”The last sentence came out almost as a whisper. Even though she smiled, I could see the pain hidden behind it. It was the kind of smile someone wore after crying for too long, one that barely held together before falling apart. Seeing her like that made my chest tighten unexpectedly. She had always looked calm and dependable, but at that moment she simply looked like a worried daug

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREEKARL'S POV"You shouldn't have bargained with the Alpha... what if he got angry?" Nancy cautioned softly as we walked away from Mireya's hospital room. Worry was written all over her face, and she kept glancing back as though expecting Knox to storm out after us at any moment. I couldn't help but smile at how nervous she looked."Because I knew he wouldn't," I replied confidently, slipping my hands into my pockets. "I'm not his subordinate. I'm his brother-in-law." A cunning smile spread across my face as I recalled the expression Knox wore when I challenged him earlier. He might be feared by everyone else, but when it came to Mireya, there were limits to what he could do. He valued her happiness too much to ignore her wishes, and I had simply used that to my advantage."I know..." Nancy murmured, lowering her gaze shyly. "But you still have to be careful.""I will."Without thinking twice, I leaned over and gently pecked her cheek. Her entire face

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY TWOKNOX'S POVThe same people... the same ones who had kidnapped my first girlfriend and disguised her as an assassin, forcing me to kill the woman I cared with my own hands. The memory flashed through my mind so vividly that my jaw tightened. My fingers curled into fists as I leaned against my desk, the familiar rage simmering beneath my skin. That incident had never been an accident. It had been carefully planned. Whoever orchestrated it had known exactly how to manipulate my illness and my instincts against me. They either knew about my face blindness... or they suspected something was wrong and were testing their assumptions. Either way, they were becoming bolder, and that made them even more dangerous."If this continues, they might escalate their attacks on her even further," Jason said quietly, his expression unusually grim.A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I rested my weight against the edge of the desk. My mind refused to settle. Every piece
