CHAPTER THREE

Mireya’s POV

When I opened my eyes this morning, the only thing I thought about was my best friend’s baby shower, but a lot had happened in just a few hours that everything I believed in crumbled to the ground.

But even after this glaring truth, I still didn’t want to believe that Corvin would actually throw what we had away. I knew he would come back to beg me, and I would give him another chance if he begged sincerely.

Does that make me pathetic? I thought as I shook my head and walked out of the hospital, my head bandaged even though I had told the nurse I didn’t need it. I was certain Ava would heal me.

“And where am I going to go?” I mumbled as I looked at the starry night.

For the first time in the four years I had been married to Corvin, I didn’t want to go back to the house we shared. I knew it would feel too suffocating since I would constantly be reminded of his betrayal, but I had no choice.

I didn’t have anyone else to turn to.

My parents were dead, and my brother was my only surviving relative.

My brother had never supported the union, but after his car accident that left him in a coma, I had no one else to lean on except Corvin.

That eventually led to our marriage.

But after we got married, I fell seriously ill for a long time and had to take a leave from the company. I delegated my duties to Corvin, and seeing how well he handled things, I decided to trust him completely. That decision helped elevate his status within the pack.

As the only omega in a family of Alphas, Corvin had never been highly regarded, but managing my father’s company gave him leverage.

I never had a reason to doubt his loyalty. Until today.

“Or maybe all of this is just a misunderstanding,” I breathed as I stepped into the house, but the silence inside mocked me.

How could I have the truth right in front of me and still remain in denial? How had I become this pathetic?

“I’m going to wait for him to come and explain himself,” I muttered as I sent a text to his phone, asking him to return home immediately or our marriage would be over.

I waited patiently in the living room, my eyes blurry with tears as I tried not to let his betrayal tear me apart.

And that was how I remained there until the next morning.

Corvin never showed up. I picked up my phone again to look at the message I sent and saw that he had read it.

Then why? Did he truly want to end this marriage?

“That’s not possible, I’m sure... ” I was saying when I suddenly heard the front door open.

Corvin stepped into the house. He looked refreshed, like he had changed into another set of clothes, and compared to my gaunt appearance, he looked perfectly refined.

“Where are you coming back from, Corvin Blackwood?” I asked as I rose from my seat, but he only gave me a mocking smirk.

“You definitely know where I’m coming from. You’re not dumb, are you?” he blurted, and I felt my teeth grind together in anger.

“How dare you... ”

“Let’s divorce and save each other this pointless talk,” he cut in coldly, and I instantly felt defeated.

“What? How could you... ”

“Since you aren’t my fated mate, I don’t think I have any obligations toward you,” he said.

My chest tightened painfully as Ava writhed in pain inside me, almost as though she sensed something terrible was coming.

I needed to stop this.

“You don’t have any obligations?” I growled, my anger simmering dangerously. I could feel myself slowly losing control as my wolf threatened to take over, but shifting now would only make things messier.

Ava had already been deeply hurt by Corvin’s recent actions. I didn’t want to put her through more pain.

“What do you mean?” Corvin asked in a grave voice, and I scoffed bitterly.

“You know you are nothing without my money, so how dare you say something like that?” I snapped before shaking my head at my own stupidity for trusting a man so blindly.

I had handed my father’s company over to Corvin so he could gain standing within his family because he was never respected after being born to one of the Blackwoods’ illegitimate sons.

I stepped aside so he could run the company alone and prove his worth to his family.

And after everything I sacrificed for him, this was how he repaid me.

I took a gamble on a boy, hoping he would become a man, only to realize I could never turn him into something he was never meant to be.

I was so stupid.

“Is that what we’re doing now, Mireya?” he asked with a wicked chuckle.

I frowned at him because he was always up to no good whenever he laughed like that.

“Then maybe I should remind you that I’m no longer that disposable boy,” he said.

Not long after, several officers suddenly walked into the house.

“What’s going on?” I asked in confusion.

“You are under arrest, Mrs. Blackwood, for the embezzlement of company funds,” one of the officers said.

I was too stunned to speak as they handcuffed me and started reading me my Miranda rights.

Company funds?

But I had stepped down from management years ago.

What was happening?

“Have you people lost your minds? Where are you taking my wife?” Corvin suddenly shouted, and relief briefly flooded me because I thought he was defending me.

“Call the legal team and... ” I started saying, but Corvin abruptly silenced me by pulling me into a tight hug.

“Just go with them, Mireya. Stop resisting so much,” he whispered.

Goosebumps spread across my skin immediately because I could hear the pure hatred in his voice.

Could it be that I wasn’t overthinking this after all?

“I spent so much time getting them here today, so be a good girl,” he whispered close to my ear. “And you seem to have forgotten something earlier, Mireya. You are no longer the spoiled rich heiress. You’re just my wife… a wife I already stripped of her power.”

He stepped back afterward and instructed the officers to take me away, but I couldn’t fully process his words.

I kept turning back to look at Corvin, unable to believe that the man I married could actually be behind something like this.

But Corvin only smiled. And that smile terrified me. If Corvin had truly set me up like this… then did that mean everything had been part of a grand scheme from the very beginning?

And had I simply been a pawn in his game all along?

Only moments ago, he had been part of the attack against our pack, yet now he looked completely helpless. "Uncle, please..." he started begging, his voice trembling as he grabbed onto Knox's legs. He looked terrified, but I couldn't bring myself to feel sorry for him. He had planned the entire thing and had willingly put countless lives at risk, so seeing him suddenly act scared only made my anger grow."How can a Blackwood plan against the pack?" one of the council members demanded, his expression filled with disappointment and anger. "I hope the Alpha doesn't take this matter with leniency." Elder Aiden remained unusually silent while the others continued voicing their opinions, their murmurs growing louder as they demanded justice. "He should be executed," several of them chorused, their voices echoing thr

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-THREEMIREYA'S POVWhat's going on? I thought as Ava suddenly let out a fierce roar, her voice echoing through my mind and sending a jolt of alarm through my body. "It's too soon!" I added, my eyes narrowing as I looked toward the dark forest. I knew this was going to happen eventually, but I hadn't expected the attack to come this early. My instincts immediately kicked in, and despite the tension spreading through the area, I forced myself to remain calm. I had prepared for this moment long before tonight. I quickly signaled Nancy and Sasha, and they understood immediately because we had already discussed our plan. I never intended for the entire pack to fight these attackers head-on. That would only create unnecessary casualties and give our enemies exactly what they wanted. Instead, I had intentionally prepared several traps throughout the woods before today. I had also asked Karl to give me one of his men to keep an eye on Corvin because ever sinc

My heart pounded as I stared at Mireya's wolf, uncertainty twisting through my mind. Was she really my mate? I doubted it. I wanted to believe Magnus, but my human mind refused to accept something that completely contradicted everything I had believed for years. Our wolves stood facing each other, and I immediately noticed the reaction between them. There was an undeniable pull, something instinctive and powerful that I couldn't explain. Magnus seemed drawn to her, his entire body tense with excitement, while Mireya's wolf remained close, seemingly affected by the same invisible bond. Around us, the other wolves were already prepared for the hunt, restless and eager to receive the order to begin, but I didn't signal them to move. I needed answers first. I couldn't allow anything else to happen until I was certain about what Magnus had sensed.A memory sud

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-ONEKNOX'S POVThe whole room became awkward, and the atmosphere felt suffocating after Selena was taken away. The excitement that had filled the engagement hall earlier had completely disappeared, replaced by uncomfortable silence and murmurs from the guests. Mireya's face still looked angry, and there was something in her expression that told me she wasn't completely satisfied with how everything had ended. I was still surprised by the way she had acted earlier, slapping Selena repeatedly until she finally stopped talking back. I had never seen Mireya that furious before. There had been no hesitation in her movements, no fear in her eyes, and no trace of the gentle woman I was accustomed to seeing. Her aura had been powerful, commanding, and unmistakably that of a Luna. I couldn't be more proud of her. She had finally shown everyone that she wasn't someone they could trample over.Karl left with the guards while Selena was taken away, and only the M

Her eyes burned with uncontrollable hatred and blinding anger, and the twisted expression on her face made it obvious that reason had completely abandoned her. "I will kill you myself!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice echoing throughout the silent engagement hall. Before she could come anywhere near me, Karl, who had been standing rigidly with restrained aggression ever since the video was played, reacted without hesitation. He stepped forward and delivered a powerful kick to her abdomen, sending her flying across the room. Her body crashed into several decorated tables, knocking expensive centerpieces, glasses, and plates onto the floor. The loud clattering sound filled the hall as horrified gasps escaped the stunned guests.Selena groaned in pain and struggled to push herself back onto her feet, but before she could regain her balance, several guards surro

For the first time since the accusations began, uncertainty flashed across the elder's face."We... we only wanted to know who that man was," Elder Aiden replied hesitantly, his voice noticeably less firm than before."If all of you must know, then I won't hesitate to tell you," Knox declared, his voice echoing throughout the silent hall. "That so-called scoundrel was me."A collective gasp swept through the crowd. The whispers stopped almost instantly as everyone stared at him in stunned disbelief.
