chapter 111

Aurora's POV

I stood still, watching the shadow merge into the streets. Then it disappeared.

No one else could see it. But I could sense it.

My energy surged in a controlled manner as I stared directly at it.

It was a familiar presence, Seraphina’s presence.

My brows furrowed as I ‘watched’ her concealed from slink out of the streets and dark in another direction after a while, before disappearing out of my range.

She had hidden herself to go somewhere. But why?

I felt the ur

Alaric’s POVShe looked otherworldly. Not like a mere Luna unable to fight.I saw it from the moment the first lightning struck. Her eyes, her pupils and sclera both white, almost gleaming with a silver light. And nature obeyed her.I had not understood the extent of her powers before. Elder Miriam had explained to me that her Luna essence was something pure, and I knew that she was sought out by other packs before we got married. But this was different. It was akin to watching a goddess incarnate in action. Now, after everything, she stood close, listening but not acting. Doctor Montgomery had taken over the medical team while she supervised. Everyone glanced at her, unable to stop whispering about how powerful their Luna was.Everyone had seen her capabilities today.“Over 700 of the rogues are dead, Alpha,” the guard reported. “Those alive have been taken for interrogation.”There was a hint of satisfaction in his voice and I didn't call him out on it. Not when I felt the stir of t

Aurora’s POVBlood shed.My body didn't stop moving, despite the conflicted emotions I felt.I had stopped by the clinic, barely able to grab a small medical kit slung over my body. Now I have to use it.“Aurora!” I heard a familiar voice behind me.“Lyra!” I yelled. She ran towards me. “WHY are you here? You should be in the shelter.”“So should you, Luna,” she teased, but her expression was cold. “I am not going to abandon you. And I saw your note. You’re so silly for daring not to say goodbye properly.”My cheeks and eyes burned with a strange feeling.I nodded, pursing my lips.“Elder Miriam was the one that told me where you were,” she continued while we worked on one patient each. “She’s in the pack clinic now, helping with the injured persons.”I worked with precision. Apply pressure on the wound, clean the wound, and dress. As we worked, several more came. Not all were from the clinic, many were warriors as well, helping to carry off those we had attended to.The only time I r

Alaric’s POVOf all the things I could have imagined, the rogues attacking before we did was not part of the plan.“Alpha! The eastern gates are nearly breached!” A guard hurried to report, having run from the borders to me.We had only 500 men, I thought. I had sent Declan early this morning with 30 of our people to go with the rogue leader Zephyr, and negotiate an alliance with the smaller rogue group he commanded.Half of our troops were occupied and out of the pack, allied to scout and destroy the rogues.I growled, “Then we defend it.”Chaos had already broken out, and I was in the middle of it.“You,” I ordered one of the stronger warriors called Gereon. “Take 10 of the men. You will guard the shelters. No one must be harmed.”“Yes Alpha.”Suddenly I heard a voice call, “Alaric!”I turned to see Aurora running towards me. She had a bag swung over her body.“Head to the Eastern Gates,” I ordered everyone.“I’m coming with you,” were the first words she said as soon as she reache

Aurora’s POVI woke up just as the sunlight began to stream in through the window.I felt a lot stronger. In fact, I felt weirdly more energetic.I closed my eyes briefly as I sat up, pinpointing the energy coursing through me. My True Luna essence felt different. Where it had been like a stream, slow and steady, now it began to course faster, still a steady current but one much more heavier. My brows furrowed slightly.Could it be that my actions somehow had an effect on the binds that were placed on me?Of course, I had no idea how to voice this thought and simply focused on the fact that my energy had fully recovered.I felt a joy that had not been there last night. My lips curled up into a soft smile i didnt even notice.Though I was confused about the turn of events I wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth and complain about it.Still, I intended on seeing Elder Miriam today, to say goodbye after everything had happened.5 hours to go.An hour later, I glanced around the

Alaric’s POVBut Zephyr was, of course, not going to dare. Instead, he stepped back, giving me a challenging look.“We shall see if you can hold up to your word, Alpha Alaric,” He said, then he turned away and disappeared down the hall, movements swift.I sneered, turning to return to my study.I dared not step into the master bedroom, not since everything had happened.I couldn't even look at the spaces where Aurora’s things had occupied before Seraphina came along.Even now, with her identity exposed as Rosalie Blackwood and several instances of cleaning and clearing out belongings, new items belonging to that witch still surfaced, making my chest tight each time I spotted them.Rosalie Blackwood had been intent on worming her way into my life and she had truly succeeded.I regretted it deeply.I walked into my study, glancing at the makeshift bed I had the head maid set up last night, and then at the desk full of paperwork, reports and letters passed between myself, Alpha Eric and

Alaric’s POVHer indifference hurt a lot more than anything else ever could. Even though I could see it was all an act, I still knew that I had caused this. And fuck, that was a hard pill to swallow. My words seemed to have garnered a bit of a reaction.Though her back was to me, the tremor through the mate bond did not lie. When she spoke, her voice was hoarse.“A lot has happened. It cannot,” she paused, and I heard her audible inhale and exhale, ‘it cannot be taken back. Not now. Accept this once and for all, Alaric. There’s nothing that you can do to change it.”My jaw tightened, and my hands clenched into fists.I felt like the air had been knocked out of me again. And what was worse, I had heard the exhaustion in her voice, the plain tiredness.I wasn't sure if she was merely physically exhausted but I was not intent on putting more pressure on her.I still had 12 hours left.Once daylight broke, I promised myself. Even if it meant finding a way to keep her in the mansion, I wou

Aurora’s POVThe next morning, as soon as I finished dressing up, I got a knock on the door. To my surprise, as soon as I opened the door, I saw a guard, bearing the crest of the Council. My heart skipped a beat but I tried my best to remain calm. Why was the Council coming to me?The Elders and I

Aurora’s POVShe had started again.I looked at her carefully crafted mask, seeing it slip a little. Since Lyra started talking, she had paled more and more and her grip on my husband’s arm had gotten tighter and tighter by the second. Now, even Alaric looked uncomfortable, as her nails dug into hi

Aurora’s POVI didn't know what Seraphina was going to do next, nor did I expect to hear a heavy, long sigh, like air being forced out of a balloon.“You,” Seraphina’s voice was now weak. “I will regret this.”“Oh I think I will,” Lyra hummed. “I regret not being able to punch you in the face right

Aurora’s POVI glanced at Eva whose lips twitched. But upon meeting my gaze she adopted a look of mocking and mild grievance.“What? Don't tell me you’re upset with me, Luna Aurora?” She snorted then and took a swig of wine like she was in a bar instead of such an event.“You spoke enough,” I regar
