Aurora’s POV

“Alright,” I exhaled, despite knowing in my heart that my mind was already made up. But why expain that to Alaric’s greatest supporter?

Suddenly I stopped in my tracks.

“Declan.” My voice was low and warning. He stopped as well, turning to me.

I had felt it, a spike of energy, reaching like tentacles.

“You found something?” He asked.

I closed my eyes briefly, and turned to my right, pointing.

“There.”

I had found one.

Declan moved towarda the tree where the purple sachet hung but

Aurora’s POVAssault? That word nearly made me want to laugh, because I could see the way her eyes darted towards me, a flickering, nearly dismissable action. If it were any other person, I would have defended them and ensured they got justice. But here I could tell she was simply trying to make a scene. And Alaric seemed to believe in what she said too.He took several steps forward, nearly reaching her, before he stopped and turned to me. This looked bad, I knew it, and he did too. If anyone saw him comfort her it would throw a wrench in his plans to keep his reputation as Alpha. So then, slowly he turned to me, a question in his eyes, a plea to step in.And I, true to my word to keep up his flimsy ruse, decided to help.It wasn't out of altruism, no. It was simply because I knew everyone could see through it, and I had no desire to entertain more questions than needed. I had 17 days to go before my divorce petition was finalized. I could afford to be a little nice. Plus, I wanted t

Aurora’s POVThe effect on Seraphina was sudden. She blinked once, twice, then her eyes reddened, and so did her cheeks. She looked embarrassed, and this time I knew it was sincere, because every time Eva hit, she always struck right at the heart.I had to admit though, I never expected Eva to come to my defense. She was always trying to one-up me, one would think she had suddenly gotten a brain transplant.“I’m sorry,” Seraphina looked like she could sink into the ground. And Alaric cleared his throat.“Lady Seraphina, please do not take it to heart. I’m sure you can enjoy yourself at this event,” It was a dismissal. And she knew it.With her head lowered, I could still feel the ire rising off of her in waves. She turned and made her exit, moving to the furthest corner, but as I watched her leave her back was stiff, and she no longer displayed the confident stride like a peacock that she always did when she had won. This time, it was clear that she lost.I turned, only to pause slig

  • The Betrayed Luna: Rise Of The Phoenix    Chapter 25

Aurora’s POVAs Asher joined us, we left the house together, with a retinue of maids and guards bearing small gifts which I had arranged beforehand. This was the first time since I was reborn that I was truly in sync with the rest of my family. The optics had to be nice, but as we reached the doors of the largest meeting hall, I subtly removed my arm from Alaric’s grasp, noticing how his gaze snapped to the back of my head as I walked over with a smile to greet the first arriving guest.I stood for nearly thirty minutes, attending to everyone at the door. We welcomed over thirty guests from the neighboring packs, with a few people who I had several encounters with over the years.“Luna Aurora,” It was Jason, the Alpha of the Gale Pack. They were former rogues who had been defeated by Alaric at some point, and after negotiations, had been granted amnesty to create their own pack. Since they were created over five years ago, the Gale pack had grown considerably, from a population of a

  • The Betrayed Luna: Rise Of The Phoenix    Chapter 24

Aurora’s POVMy heart ached, my mind was a mess, simply from one encounter. Simply from those words that left my son’s mouth, I was once again thrown into the mire, reminding me of the scene before my death in my previous life.I closed my eyes, trying to breathe, trying to pull myself back into that calm state that I had been in before all that happened.“Everything’s fine,” I said out loud in a low breath. “I just have to be… just have to be patient.”It was exceedingly difficult however, to be so. I wasn't sure I would be able to keep my cool for long, but it was important that I tried. With that thought I went towards the closet, stocked with a few dresses. My closet in the guest bedroom was exceedingly bare save for that and my work attires and pajamas. Still, I had no desire to enter the master bedroom and be confronted with the sight of Seraphina’s clothes and Seraphina’s presence everywhere I'd look. Instead I began to check the packages I had received earlier, leaving instr

  • The Betrayed Luna: Rise Of The Phoenix    Chapter 23

Alaric’s POVI couldn't understand it, couldn't figure it out.Aurora had never behaved like this before. She had always been a good mother, a good wife, a perfect Luna for the pack. But this time she wasn't behaving the way she usually would. And it all began the moment Seraphna set foot in this house. No, it was even before that, I thought. It was the morning when I asked Aurora to accommodate Seraphina, to let her into our home. And ever since then, things have turned from bad to worse between us. It was a mess,a devolving, complicated mess.Ever since that evening where she left, I had been plagued by thoughts of her. It was incessant, especially when I tried to ignore implications staring me right in the face.I hadn't been able to convince S

  • The Betrayed Luna: Rise Of The Phoenix    Chapter 22

Aurora’s POVBy the time everything was done it was nearly midnight. Declan and I met up with Lyra and Elder Miriam. My feet dragged across the ground, my breaths grew heavier with each passing minute.“How was it?” Lyra too was panting, supporting Elder Miriam who looked exhausted but still had a sharp gaze in her eyes. “We found three. You?”“Five,” Declan responded. He glanced at me, concern in his eyes. “The Luna needs rest. Tomorrow is an important day.”I nodded.Tomorrow, being the full moon festival, was a day where not only the pack but delegates from neighboring ally packs would gather. As the Luna, I would be in charge of not only playing host, but handling other social matters. It took considerable effort from Lyra and Declan to help Elder Miriam and I back to the Elder’s home. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I drifted off. The dreams I had were peaceful, and for the first time in ages, I felt well rested when I got up the next day. The dawn had just broken, and yet I
