My heart plummeted to the pit of my stomach at his words. He was clearly very angry. He flung the axe behind his shoulder; it was almost as though he was ready to attack.

"I asked a question, kid. You better start talking." The hatred in his voice was unmistakable. He still loathed me and I wasn't surprised, i deserved everything I was getting.

"Please, Beta Ken, put the axe down. Let's talk," I pleaded.

He narrowed his eyes, "You don't tell me what to do, Nora! What are you doing in my house? It is true I banished you from entry into this pack years ago, but it isn't exactly ours right now, so I do not have the right to prevent you from coming to the pack. But this is my house! My territory, and you are not welcome here!"

His last words were laced with so much anger and hurt as he growled, his brown eyes turning yellow. I had to take a step back.
