In a Top Class Restaurant, a Young Man and a Woman Stood in the Space Nearest to the Sea.

The Man was on His Knees, Proposing to the Lady.

  " Will you, Marry me, Lucy? " He asked.

  " I would like to but I really can't, Adam. " She replied.

" Lucy please accept my proposal I love you " Adam pleaded

    " Adam it's not like that I also love you,  I  really do but as you know our genotypes are both   " As "  if we both get married we are going to have sickle cell children '' she sobbed

    " I know Lucy but I love you and I am willing to take the risk, please Lucy " he begged

    " Adam I am sorry to disappoint you but I can't give birth to sickle cell children I am really sorry '' she said and left Adam who was still in a daze

     " Why!! why!! did this have to happen to us, Lucy? , We don't deserve this, so why?   Anyways I am willing to take the risk for our love '' he sighed inwardly.

  when Lucy got to her apartment she went directly to her bedroom and collapsed on the bed crying bitterly.

    She cried until she could cry no more

   " Oh God why me?  this is so unfair,   why me Lord?  '' she sobbed.

  " What am I going to do now I can't let Adam go,   no, no  I  really can't sacrifice my love,  ahhhhhh '' she sobbed

    She cried herself to sleep that night.

   She woke up the next day with a serious headache, she managed to Walk to her bathroom despite her Shaky legs.

   When she saw her reflection in the mirror she screamed in fright as the young lady in the mirror looked like a ghost with her make-up  smeared, her eyes were swollen from continuous crying and her hair was all messy.

    " Oh God I don't deserve this '' she sighed

    She freshens up and went back to the kitchen to make some food for herself, She made some Spaghetti Salad.

   While eating she heard a knock on the door.

    She  Went ahead to open it and Wasn't Suprised to see that it was her Best friend,  Rose.

  "  Hey, Rose,  What brings you here so early in the morning? '' she asked Suprised.

  " Good morning,  can I come in?  '' Rose said ignoring her question

   " Of course you can come in " Lucy replied moving aside so Rose could go in.

   After they had settled down on the Cream colored Sofa, Rose spoke up

  " Lucy I heard about what happened between you and Adam" she began.

   " Rose, I am confused what should I do?  I love Adam and want to spend a lifetime with him but  on the other hand, I don't want to give birth to sickle cell children," she  replied, Almost Sobbing

  "  Hey stop crying, don't worry we will find a way out of this " Rose whispered in a Consoling tone.

   " No no!  there's no solution I don't know what to do " she sobbed.

   " Alright calm down stop crying okay? "  Rose whispered trying her best to calm her down

   Rose was Lucy's best friend since college when she heard the News she disagreed at first but when she saw that they were madly in love with one another she was helpless.

After Lucy had calmed down Rose spoke up

" Lucy how about we go to a specialist to talk about this case to see if there's a solution? " she asked

  " hmmn, but are you sure there's a solution?  " Lucy asked

  " let's try first, there's no harm in trying alright?  " she replied.

  " Okay. "

  An hour later the duo went to Meet a specialist who happened to be Rose's fiance's best friend.

  In the doctor's office

" Good afternoon ladies " he greeted

" Good afternoon doctor " they replied

   " so what is the situation here? "  he asked

Before Lucy could Respond to his Question Rose beat her to it.

   " Doctor, Lucy here is my best friend she and her boyfriend both have traits for sickle cell anemia but they are both in love with one another and wants to get married,

so we are here to ask if there's a way to avoid them giving birth to sickle cell children, so they can be rest assured that they won't give birth to Sickle Cell, kids. " she said

    " hmmmmn this a serious case we have here and I will always advise that couples with traits of sickle cell anemia should not get married but in this case, you said that they are madly in love with one another am I right? " he asked

   " Yes doctor they are " Rose replied

   " Alright back to your question as both of them have traits for sickle cell anemia there's a one in four (25%)  chance that any of their children will be born with sickle cell anemia there's also one in four chance that any of their children will be completely unaffected  so do you understand now, " Dr. Mike asked

  " We do  " Rose answered

" Lucy, were you even listening?  Rose asked Lucy who was in a daze.

  Just then Lucy snapped out of her daze and whipped off her tears

" Yes, I was " she replied.

" Alright doctor we will take our leave now " Rose replied

" okay nice meeting you"  he replied as they shook hands.

  On their way downstairs.

" Lucy are you alright?  " Rose asked worriedly

" To be honest, I am not " she replied

  " let's go have  some Coffee " Rose suggested

  " Alright " Lucy replied as they both Walked to a nearby Coffee Shop.

  After Placing their orders Rose spoke up.

" Lucy,  what are going to do now?  " she asked

" I don't know I am still confused " Lucy replied honestly

    " So am I " she replied

" Do you think we should take the risk? " Lucy asked

  " Not sure,  perhaps you should talk to Adam?  " Rose advised

  " Yes I will " she replied

Just then the waiter came back with their coffees.

   After she left the duo sipped their coffee in silence, With both of them deep in thoughts.
