Chapter 5: Impossible

“Naomi is pregnant.”

Renji thought his doctor had called the wrong person.

“What did you say?”

“Naomi was admitted to the hospital this morning. The pregnancy has been confirmed.”

“No.”

“Renji—”

“That is impossible.”

Every specialist he had consulted over the years had told him the same thing. He could never father a child. His parents had refused to accept it because he was their only son and the Jing bloodline depended on him, but every new doctor only repeated the diagnosis.

“You have the wrong patient,” Renji insisted.

“I checked her details myself.”

“Then the child is not mine.”

His parents entered in time to hear him.

“What child?” Mrs Jing asked.

Renji ended the call. “Naomi is pregnant.”

Both of them reacted at once. His mother demanded to know where Naomi was and whether she was all right, while his father questioned why Renji had not gone to see her.

“She is at the hospital,” Renji replied.

“Then why are you still here?” Mrs Jing demanded.

“Because the baby cannot be mine.”

Mrs Jing stopped smiling. Mr Jing glared at him.

“Watch what you are saying,” his father warned.

“You both know what the doctors told me. I cannot father a child.”

“Doctors are not God,” Mrs Jing fired back. “They can make mistakes.”

“Every one of them?”

Mr Jing pointed at him. “So you have already decided Naomi slept with another man?”

“I did not say that.”

“You said the child is not yours. What else does that mean?”

Renji could not answer without repeating the accusation. Naomi had lived at the Jing Estate for six months before the wedding, and he had never seen another man around her. But the doctors had also been clear about his condition. Her pregnancy did not make sense.

Mrs Jing picked up her handbag. “We are going to the hospital.”

“Going there will not change my medical results.”

“No, but it will stop you from sitting here and disgracing your wife without proof,” Mr Jing replied. “You will speak to her, and both of you will take a DNA test.”

Renji scoffed. “A test will only prove what I already know.”

“Then you should not be afraid to take it.”

His parents refused to continue the argument. Renji followed them because he wanted the matter settled too. If the child belonged to another man, the result would prove it. If the doctors had somehow been wrong, he needed to see the evidence himself.

They heard Naomi’s father pleading with her before they entered the hospital room.

“Please keep the baby, Naomi. I am begging you.”

“I have made my decision.”

“You only found out today. Give yourself time.”

“More time will not change what happened between Renji and me.”

Renji paused outside the room. He had gone there to question whether the baby belonged to him, but Naomi had already decided to terminate the pregnancy.

Mrs Jing entered first.

Naomi sat upright in bed with her long brunette hair loose around her shoulders. She was pale, but her full lips tightened the moment she saw Renji.

“What are you doing here?”

“My doctor informed me.”

“I told the hospital not to contact you.”

“He already knew.”

Mr Bellari moved between them. “Do not come here and start another fight.”

Renji ignored him.

“Is the baby mine?”

Naomi’s brows rose and her lips parted. “That is the first thing you have to say to me?”

“You know what the doctors told me.”

“So you think I cheated on you.”

“I was told I could never father a child. What do you expect me to think?”

Naomi recoiled. Her father immediately condemned Renji for insulting her after everything he had already done, while Mrs Jing scolded him for arriving at the hospital only to accuse his wife.

Renji refused to withdraw the question.

“I want a DNA test.”

Naomi laughed bitterly. “Of course you do.”

“If the child is mine, the test will prove it.”

“It is yours.”

She answered immediately. No hesitation. No excuse.

Renji had expected her to deny knowing how it happened or ask him to trust her. Instead, Naomi was offended that he needed proof at all.

“You know that should be impossible,” he replied.

“And you think that gives you the right to disgrace me?”

“I am asking for proof.”

“You are accusing me of sleeping with another man and hiding behind the word proof.”

Mr Bellari rounded on him. “My daughter does not owe you anything after the way you treated her.”

“Then there should be no reason to refuse the test.”

Naomi pushed the blanket away and tried to stand, but her legs weakened. Her father caught her arm.

“I am not refusing.”

“Naomi, sit down,” Mr Bellari urged. “You do not have to prove yourself to him.”

“Yes, I do.” She faced Renji. “He will not leave this hospital and tell people I betrayed him.”

“I have not told anyone.”

“You told your parents the baby could not be yours.”

“They heard the call.”

“And they heard what you truly think of me.”

Mrs Jing interrupted before the argument continued. Renji had insulted Naomi, but the DNA test would settle the matter and stop the accusation from leaving that room.

Naomi agreed immediately.

“I want it done today,” she said. “I will prove who the father is, and none of you will ever question my dignity again.”

Her father still objected. Naomi had collapsed only hours earlier, and he wanted her to rest before making another decision. She refused to postpone it.

The hospital arranged the test that day.

Naomi gave her sample without asking Renji to reconsider his accusation. She did not explain how the pregnancy had happened either. She only wanted the result to clear her name.

After the samples were taken, Mr Bellari returned to the decision that had frightened him since he arrived.

“Please reconsider the abortion.”

Naomi shook her head. “The test changes nothing.”

“This baby is innocent.”

“So was I when Renji humiliated me.”

Mrs Jing turned to her son. Renji had nothing to say. He had told Naomi he regretted marrying her and did not want her as his wife. She had no reason to believe having his child would change anything.

Mr Bellari continued pleading with her. He reminded her that the child had done nothing wrong and begged her not to make a permanent decision because of a marriage that had lasted only one day.

Naomi refused.

“I agreed to the DNA test because I will not let anyone destroy my name. I did not agree to keep the pregnancy.”

Her father tried again, but Naomi asked him to stop. She would prove the child belonged to Renji, but she would not let anyone use the pregnancy to force her back into the Jing mansion.

Renji had expected her to refuse the test or delay it. She had done neither. She wanted the result as much as he did, and for the first time since the call, he was no longer certain what it would say.

They remained at the hospital while the samples were processed. Mr Bellari stayed beside Naomi, and Renji’s parents refused to leave without knowing the truth.

The door opened.

The doctor entered with the result.

“The DNA results are ready.”

Chapter 4 — The PregnancyThree days after marrying Renji Jing, Naomi returned to work alone.Everyone stopped talking when she entered the Katherine Steward Cancer Research Institute. A colleague who had been walking towards her halted with a folder pressed against her chest, then peered behind Naomi as though Renji might still appear.“You’re back?”The surprise in her voice drew more attention. Naomi knew what they had expected after the wedding: photographs from an island, stories about a private honeymoon and a bride too occupied with her husband to remember work existed.“I have a meeting this morning,” Naomi replied.“A meeting?” The woman gaped at her. “We thought you would be somewhere completely off-grid with your husband.”Several colleagues smiled and waited for Naomi to explain why she had returned three days after becoming Mrs Jing. She had no honeymoon story to give them and no intention of telling anyone that her husband regretted marrying her.“The researchers are exp

  • The Billionaire Alpha Wants Me Back After I Had His Heir   Chapter 3 : Leaving

Naomi packed her wedding dress less than twelve hours after becoming Renji Jing’s wife. She folded it once, pushed it into the open suitcase and forced the zip over the thick fabric. Her long dark-brunette hair spilled in soft waves past her shoulders as she bent over the case. Against her warm olive skin, the shadows beneath her downcast eyes stood out, while her softly arched brows drew together and her full lips pressed into a thin line. The veil followed. She packed the clothes she had brought to the Jing mansion during the six months before the wedding, then shut the wardrobe on the jewellery and every gift Renji’s family had given her. Renji entered while she was fastening the second suitcase. He halted beside the door and surveyed the luggage. “What are you doing?” Naomi pulled the zip around the final corner. “I’m leaving.” His eyes narrowed. “You made up your mind.” “You said you regretted marrying me and didn’t want me as your wife.” She set the suitcase upri

Naomi nearly refused to become Renji Jing’s wife with everyone watching.“Repeat after me,” the elder instructed. “I, Naomi Bellari, take Renji Jing as my husband and Alpha.”She stood alone before Renji, with both founding families seated behind her and Phoebe somewhere among them. She could still see the photographs on her phone. Renji in bed with Phoebe beside him.“I, Naomi Bellari…” Her voice failed.A few guests shifted in their seats. Her mother frowned from the front row, but Naomi thought of her father standing among people who had trusted the agreement between the Bellaris and the Jings. She had already chosen to finish the ceremony. She decided she would confront Renji afterwards, hear his explanation and decide what remained of the marriage then.Everything could still be explained. Everything could still be all right. She swallowed and continued. “I, Naomi Bellari, take Renji Jing as my husband and Alpha.”Renji repeated his vows without hesitation. His voice remained ste

  • The Billionaire Alpha Wants Me Back After I Had His Heir   Chapter 1: on our wedding day

“Your sister is in bed with your fiancé.”Naomi gasped as she stared at the screen. Three photographs loaded beneath the anonymous message. Phoebe lay under the sheets in Renji’s bedroom with her bare shoulder against his chest. Renji was shirtless beside her, and the final picture showed his hand resting near her waist. Naomi recognised the room immediately. She had lived in the Jing mansion for six months and knew the grey bedding, the dark headboard and the watch Renji always left beside him. A knock sounded at the door. “Naomi, the cars are ready.” “I need ten minutes,” she called. Her wedding dress had already been fastened, but the veil was still waiting to be placed over her hair. Naomi gathered the train into her arms, grabbed her phone and left through the side entrance. Her father’s house was close, yet the drive felt unbearable with the photographs still open beside her. She had planned to marry Renji, the son of the most renowned Jing family that afternoon, stand b
