He shouldn't care about what she thinks of him, shouldn't even care about her feelings at that moment but he does and also felt the need to explain himself. Rowena had caught him off guard with that kiss and he wanted Kyra to know. These thoughts were what had him racing halfway across the estate into the woods after her and since he was faster he was able to catch up to her in no time at all.
