"...and that concludes everything for the week, Mr. Dantrix," I said, holding the iPad down as I finished the full run-through of the office schedule. It was apparently something Jade liked to do every Friday before he closed for the day. He preferred to go through the week's activities to see how he could improve his schedule for the next week. "Thank you, Myra," Jade muttered, giving his leather chair a single, smooth spin. "Finally, I can start enjoying my weekend effective immediately." He seemed to be in a very good mood today. I was tempted to ask him what had put him in such a fine spirit, but I quickly suppressed my curiosity. "I guess that means I get to close early today, right?" I asked. "Yeah, but before you leave, I should congratulate you," he said with a smile. "Congratulate me for what?" I questioned, slightly confused as to what I was being rewarded for. His grin stretched even wider, pulling back to reveal a perfect set of gleaming white teeth. "For surviving your very first week with me, of course," he stated as he stood up from his desk. "My last secretary didn't even last four days." My brows knitted together in a tight line. "How is that even possible?" I asked. "I found out that she was actively snooping around in my personal life and spying on me. Crazy, right?" Jade said, stowing a gold pen into his pocket. "Right, that is so crazy," I chuckled nervously, a sudden wave of heat washing over my face. I swallowed hard, my throat growing dry. Wasn't I doing almost the exact same thing right now? Since I found that hidden document about Vincent's shady business deals, I had been secretly snooping around Jade's desk every chance I got. I had even peeked over his shoulder while he was inputting his password on his private computer today, just so I could access it later when the floor was empty. I cleared my throat, forcing my voice to remain steady. "I'm just glad you gave me this opportunity to work for you," I said, nervously tucking a stray piece of my hair behind my ear. "Considering how we first met, I didn't think you would ever want me to work for you." Jade shrugged carelessly as he strode across the rug toward me, stopping right in front of my position. "If you really want to thank me..." He reached out, his warm fingers slowly drawing the hair I had just tucked behind my ear back down across my face. "...then go out with me tonight. And please call me by my first name when we're alone." I sighed, feeling a little breathless by how closely he was standing to me. "We can't," I said, my voice coming out small and weak. "It's not going to be a formal date, Myra. We will just have a quiet drink and talk, please," he urged softly. I looked away from him, fully conflicted as my mind raced. There was something incredibly important we actually needed to talk about. Like the massive fact that I was currently pregnant with his child. "Please," he murmured, his fingers gently brushing the side of my face as he slowly tilted my chin with his index finger to force me to look back at him. "I won't take you back to my place this time." "Okay," I finally gave in, utterly unable to resist his charm. He smiled triumphantly, looking as if he had just won a gold trophy in a fierce competition. He stepped away from me, leaning his hip back against the smooth edge of his desk. "I'll come pick you up at your place by seven," he said, his gaze dropping down to sweep over my body. "Wear something you can easily move in." What on earth did he mean by that? "Don't you need my address first?" I asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow at him. "Don't worry, I already have it on file," he replied, causing me to frown instantly. "How do you know where I stay?" I demanded. "Ask me later tonight," he replied with a corny smirk playing on his lips. My eyes narrowed on him, but I simply let out a sharp sigh and walked away toward the door. "I'll see you," I heard him call out as I left the room. ****** "It's not a date, Myra," I muttered to myself out loud as I went through my wardrobe, desperately trying to find something to wear. Talking to myself was my usual way of feeling better whenever I was feeling incredibly nervous. "You are just having a normal night off with your boss, who is about to become your baby daddy... Okay, stop." The longer I soliloquized in front of the mirror, the more nervous I actually got. I took a deep breath to calm my racing pulse, trying to focus on finding a suitable outfit. My wardrobe was pretty scanty, at least by my personal definition of scanty. I finally settled on a short-sleeved top and a comfortable pair of denim jeans. I got dressed pretty quickly and put on a light layer of makeup before finally leaving my apartment building. The exact moment I stepped out through the front door of my building, Jade was standing right there on the pavement, leaning back against his sports bike. And mama, he looked so hot. He had a black leather jacket on, a matching black shirt underneath, and tight black jeans. He was dressed in full-on black. Gone was the serious, rigid CEO persona and corporate outfit. He was focused on his phone and hadn't noticed me yet. I was still rooted to the spot in a daze when he raised his head and spotted me standing there. My phone started ringing loudly from inside my purse. I reached into the fabric for it, noting a call from an unknown number. I answered it quickly, bringing the phone up to my ear. "Hello?" I said. "You're looking very beautiful tonight, Myra," a deep voice murmured.Jade's P.O.VDespite how far the night had gone from my original plan, things finally seemed to be going smoothly. Myra and I were having our drinks and carrying on a normal conversation.I asked a few simple, surface-level questions, trying to get a better idea of who she was outside the office.I now knew that her favorite color was red, she was allergic to fish, and that her favorite season was winter.I had never really had a favorite season before, but I was seriously beginning to think winter could become mine.“You still haven't told me how you got my address and phone number,” Myra said in the middle of our conversation as she took another sip of her iced peach tea.“Your phone number was already on the company's employee list. As for your address, well...” I paused, a small smile tugging at my lips. “You could say I stalked you.”Her brows furrowed. “You stalked me?”“Yeah.” I leaned back slightly, watching the subtle way her expression shifted. “After your third day at the o
Myra's P.O.VMy fist clenched.I simply stared at Vincent, trying to decide whether I had heard him clearly or not."Excuse me?"He took another step toward me, his expression darkening. "You heard me clearly," he said. "Or would you like me to repeat what I said?"The audacity of the man almost made me want to laugh. Who exactly did Vincent think he was?"You came into this private lounge unannounced, and that's the first thing you chose to say to me.""Are you trying to deny it?" he asked, his eyes narrowing. "You expect me to believe there's nothing going on between you two?"I folded my arms across my chest, refusing to let his accusation or irritating presence get under my skin. I was already boiling on the inside, and one more idiotic thing from him was going to make me snap."Is that jealousy I sense from you, Vincent?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. His jaw hardened even further. I was almost certain his teeth were beginning to ache from how tightly he was clenching them."
Myra's P.O.V"Stop overthinking," he murmured, his voice sounding deep and sinfully tempting. His face slowly drew closer to mine, and I did not pull back; I did the very opposite by inching closer to him. When our lips met, it felt like an electric spark, the kind that gave a hint of excitement and vulnerability at the same time. His arms wrapped around my waist, and he pressed me against his body, while my fingers locked into his hair.As the kiss deepened, the cool rush of mint from his mouth clouded my tongue. Beneath it lingered something warm and faintly sweet, like dark chocolate. That made me press closer, craving more of that intoxicating mix."Um, Jade... sir," a woman said from behind Jade.My eyes snapped open and, like a trance cut off, I broke the kiss. Jade's arms still held me firmly, like he wasn't ready to let go.His frame was blocking my view, so I couldn't see the woman who had spoken."Did you forget how to knock?" Jade snapped."I'm sorry. I knocked but no o
Myra's P.O.VIt was Jade's voice. I looked across the pavement over at him, and he had his phone pressed tightly to his ear, a smug smirk resting on his face.I immediately ended the call and walked over to where he stood."How did you get my phone number, Jade?" I asked, crossing my arms.He shrugged casually, a glint of amusement in his eyes."I'll tell you when we get to where we're going," he replied smoothly. He shoved his phone into his pocket and handed me a heavy black helmet."Put this on."Despite my unanswered question, I took the helmet from his hands and slid it over my head, carefully fastening the chin straps into the buckle until it clicked securely. He pulled on his own helmet and swung his leg over the seat, getting onto the bike."Hop on, my lady," he said, turning the key.I crossed my leg over the leather seat and sat down directly behind him. I was a bit hesitant to hold onto his waist, but the exact second the engine roared to life with a violent shudder, I

Myra's P.O.VDuring lunch break, I decided to make a stop at the hospital. I had gone there the previous day to have a test done, and the results were probably ready by now.I'd been experiencing severe pelvic pain for the past two days, and it had only gotten worse yesterday. I had no idea what was wrong with me.At first, I assumed it was probably due to my acute hormonal imbalance, but I couldn't be certain. My doctor had insisted that I get some tests done before they could determine the cause and prescribe any treatment.Yesterday hadn't been limited to a hospital visit either. I'd also stopped by the impound compound and managed to get my car back.I tapped my heels lightly against the floor as the elevator descended toward the parking garage. When the doors slid open, I stepped into the dimly lit space and made my way toward my car.I pressed the button on my key fob, and the locks on my red Ferrari Roma clicked open. I slipped into the driver's seat, running my hands over t
