A black car stopped. The door opened.

A man stepped out but his eyes were a bit familiar.

Suzan wiped the rain from her face to see clearly.

The man stared and broke the silence.

"Big sis... is that you?"

It was Jonah, her little brother.

They were both kidnapped when they were little. They don't remember their parents. They only remember growing up together at the orphanage.

Years later, Jonah was adopted by a rich family. They hadn't seen each other since.

The only thing she had of him was an old photo of them at the orphanage.

Jonah ran and hugged her so tight she could barely breathe.

Suzan coughed. "Lil bro... enough. Do you want to lose your sister on the same day you have found her?"

He finally let go, but his eyes were red. "What are you doing outside this mansion in the rain?"

"It's... just—"

"Did that jerk throw you out?" he cut in, frowning. "Sister was right. You married the wrong man."

"We don't have time for this. Get in the car."

"I can't, I don't want to bother you and your family."

She didn't finish. Jonah scooped her up in his arms and carried her straight into the car.

He slammed the accelerator like he was racing for air.

Suzan tightened her seatbelt, frightened. She yelled at him to stop but he wouldn't listen.

Finally, he stopped at a glorious mansion bigger and fancier than Kris's.

Suzan was now afraid of mansions. She thought they were only filled with sorrow.

Jonah grabbed her hand. Her wet clothes clung to her body.

She was like a hen soaked by rain.

He ordered the servants to give her a warm bath and warm clothes.

When everything was done, she went downstairs.

The fabric of the clothes felt unreal. Its smoothness made her yearn for a deep sleep.

She always slept for 4 hours at Kris' house.

A man and woman sat there calmly.

She looked at them nervously. "Will they bark at me also?" she thought.

But the woman cried and hugged her. She patted her back, kissed her forehead, then hugged her again and again.

The man had to tell her to stop, she was carried away by emotion.

The man said with tears of joy, "We adopted Jonah from the orphanage. We didn't know we had found our own son. And we didn't know he had a sister."

The woman added, "You two were kidnapped when you were kids. That's how you ended up in the orphanage. We lost you both. After that, I could no longer give birth, so we went to adopt... and we found Jonah without knowing it was him."

"We checked the DNA a few weeks later. Jonah is our son. And when we saw his photo with you from the orphanage, we knew — you are our daughter too."

Suzan burst into tears. "I suffered all my life, yet my own parents were this rich?"

Jonah stood behind her, holding her shoulder.

They hugged each other and promised never to let go ever again.

Suzan felt her head heavy. She hadn't eaten yet since morning and inside was another dependent.

Suzan was dizzy and she fainted

Fear grabbed everyone’s face there.

“Suzan can you hear me”,they called out for her.

They hurried her up to her new room.

She dreamt of Kris and her former mother-in-law pushing her into a big hole on earth.

When she woke up,they were all standing there.

She blinked and they all ran to her, “Are you honey.”

Suzan asked, “Is it okay when l address you as mom and dad.”

“Of course,it's more than right. You should call us whatever you want,”they smiled.

Suzan’s voice was very low, “Mom,Dad — l am pregnant .

They rejoiced.

We are going to be grandparents."

“We are happy, but we should also be angry— because Suzan is pregnant by the jerk Kris who just threw her in the rain”, Jonah bitterly said, his eyes red again.

Suzan's father slowly stood up.

"Is this what that man did to my daughter?"

Suzan lowered her eyes, “He doesn't know that l am pregnant.”

"He threw you out of his house while you were carrying his child?"

She nodded silently.

Her father's face hardened, “Why should he know that you are pregnant,he would have killed the child.”

"He treated you like you were worthless because he thought you were a poor orphan with nothing."

"Dad, please," Suzan whispered. "I don't want any trouble."

He walked toward the window and stared into the darkness.

"You don't want trouble. But I want all the answers."

Jonah clenched his fists. "Dad, tell me what you want me to do."

Her father turned around.

"Find everything about Kris Norman."

Jonah nodded.

"And tomorrow morning," her father continued, his voice dangerously calm, "I want to know everything he owns, every business he controls, and every person standing beside him."

Suzan's eyes widened.

"Dad, don't—"

He looked at her.

"For twenty four years, we thought we had lost our daughter forever."

His voice cracked.

"Now that we've found you, I won't sit back and watch another man destroy you."

Jonah stepped forward.

Her father's eyes narrowed.

Suzan stared at them, tears filling her eyes.

For the first time in her life, she wasn't standing alone.

Her father picked up his phone.

"Tomorrow, Kris Norman will learn exactly who he threw out of his mansion."

He paused, his eyes turning cold.

"If Kris Norman wants war, he has just declared it against the wrong family, the wrong daughter.”

“Dad, l don't want you to interfere with Kris, leave him to me”, Suzan's tone changed to bitter.

I am the only one supposed to handle him with his good for nothing mother.

I am the only one supposed to give them a slow burn disaster that will make them run mad.

The disaster that will force them to run naked while laughing at themselves.

Dad,leave this to me.

"Hi, Dad, is everything good at home?""Oh yes, my daughter, we are perfectly fine. But your mother Eva and I are very worried about you. Make sure they don't harm you," Paul's voice was firm and calm.Suzan looked at herself keenly in the mirror. She was wearing a silk nightgown, but her eyes were not soft. They were sharp. Like knives."Dad, don't worry about me. I have them under my control. I have already purchased VIC secretly. Nobody knows who bought it from Angela."Paul laughed on the other side. A cold and proud laugh. "My tiger daughter. Sleep well. Tomorrow, that boy will bow to you and he won't even know it.""Good night, Dad." She hung up.Suzan fell asleep, but she did not rest at all.In her dream, she was back in that small kitchen five years ago. Jude was standing there, pouring cold water on her head while she was cooking. "You barren, useless girl! You can't even give my son a child! You are useless!"Kris just stood at the door and watched. He did nothing. He smile

Angela didn't scream. She only smirked. A slow, dangerous smirk that made her lipstick look like blood. Then she pecked Kris on his cheek, softly, like she was kissing a child."Kris, I didn't mean to slap you. It was because you insisted on not letting me see the screen."Kris touched his cheek. The slap was still burning. But her kiss was confusing him."But honey, no need to worry! My dad can help your company in no time."Kris's face lit up instantly. His eyes became wide like a little boy who just got a toy."For real? Thank God." Excitement warmed his whole body. He forgot about the slap. He forgot about the phone. "That's so good. That's so good, Angela."Angela spoke in a calm tone, almost dangerously calm. Too calm."Yeah, probably by tomorrow everything will be all set. The company's sales will be back again. All your debts will disappear. Just like magic."She then catwalked out of the office. Her heels clicked on the marble floor. Click. Click. Click. Every click felt like

“Sign these divorce papers,” he roared as he gestured for her to sign. “Be aware because you are not going to get any property from me.” His words stabbed her chest like a hot knife. Before she could even process the words again, a blazing slap landed on her cheek. It was her mother-in-law,Jude. The slap burned her cheek red, and her ear was ringing. She then grabbed her chin, forcing her to look up.“Do you think a girl from the dustbin became the lady of the mansion?” she snapped. “Kris, tell your stupid, illiterate wife to sign and leave this mansion,” her mother-in-law barked as she left the living room. Suzan forced herself to calm down and breathe, though she felt a stone choking her throat. “I warned Kris against marrying you because you had no class, no education, and, to make matters worse, you were an orphan.” “Kris, tell this bitch to sign and leave this house,” she bitterly uttered as she went upstairs. The divorce papers lay on the expensive glass table, right next to he
