Carmen’s POV

I couldn’t get the thought of Lori in tears out of my head. I had never seen her like that. Lori was always so happy and radiant, and the only time she was angry was when I didn’t do what she wanted.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t force her into telling me what was going on. As a matter of fact, the moment she realized that I had noticed the tears, she was quick to dismiss me, and trust Lori to always get what she wanted, so I had to leave her alone.

I went back downstairs, but the party was yet to begin even though I came an hour late. When I saw Lori’s personal assistant across the room, I walked up to her.

“I wonder why the party is yet to start,” I said, trying to strike up a casual conversation.
