Carmen’s POV

I left Chase’s apartment feeling horrible, and when I got to my apartment, I noticed that Millie had already returned.

“What a day,” I said as I entered the living room, hoping that I would find Millie catching up on one of her shows on TV as she always did, but she wasn’t there.

“Where is she?” I asked myself.

I opened my mouth to call out to her, but that was when the sound of her voice drifted to my ears. I couldn’t hear the words that came out of her mouth, but she sounded angry, and maybe tensed.

I walked towards the direction of the voice, but before I could get close enough to hear the words clearly, Millie turned and saw me, and she ended the call abruptly.

“You are back,” Millie said, sounding nervous.

“Yes, I am,” I responded, staring at her with worry and concern. “I tried to call you, but it wasn’t reachable,” she said.

“I have been busy,” Millie hastily answered.

She seemed really agitated and not at ease at all.
