80. THE START OF WAR

THE DAYS PASSED by and it was not easy at all. Each day I had to wake up early and train the whole day. I will first hit the gym which is luckily just at the back of this building where we had been staying.

I also made it a routine to cook for Callan and his men on some days when we haven’t ordered groceries from outside. Aakil and his brother would help me as well as Alec.

Oh, he joined the team on the second day of our stay. Saying he still had to pack and bid goodbye to his parents—Aunt Yna hesitate for him to join the mission. But Alec was determined, saying he had something to prove to himself. This mission was what he needed to unleash his full potential.

But he joked one time, saying I needed somebody who could protect me as we execute the mission. I countered his joke with the truth: “I have a husband who would die for me.”

I said that out of full devotion to Callan because I would do the same for him.

Alec just shrugged his head and mumbled. “Still, I had to be there.”
