Even with his pounding headache, Kane forced himself to endure it and played with the kids for a while after hearing Basia's request.

Aria noticed how pale he looked and frowned.

"Are you okay? You look terrible," she asked, steadying his arm.

"Do I?" Kane touched his face as if he hadn't noticed, forcing a faint smile. "Maybe I just didn't sleep well last night."

"Then go lie down for a bit. I'll call you when lunch is ready." Aria didn't give him a chance to refuse. She turned to Basia and said gently, "Daddy's tired. Let's let him rest, okay?"

Basia, who had been building with Harold, glanced back at Kane. Seeing how unwell he looked, she immediately dropped her half-finished Lego piece and grabbed his hand.

"Daddy, are you sick?"

"I'm fine, sweetheart. Just a little tired." Kane rubbed her hair and forced a soft smile.

"Then go nap! When you wake up, we'll keep playing." She tugged at his hand, dragging him toward the bedroom.

Frank was momentarily speechless. He wanted to argue with Kane but couldn't get a single word out.He knew full well that if the roles were reversed, for Mona's sake, he wouldn't suggest showing weakness either. As long as Mona was safe, nothing else mattered.Thinking of Mona, Frank's expression darkened. Ever since her escape, he had made up his mind: after Kane's surgery, he would go find her. No matter the cost, he would bring her back and be with her, whatever it took. With that in mind, he could understand Kane's intentions even more clearly."Alright, I know what to do. I'll handle the negotiation with Sharine for you," Frank said. Then he asked, "But have you figured out how to explain this to Aria?"Kane would likely be away from Aria for at least a week. Without a truthful explanation, he'd need a reason to account for his absence."I have, but I'll need your cooperation." Kane nodded, motioning Frank closer with a hand.Frank leaned in, and Kane whispered a few words into h

"There's something else," Kane said, frowning as he tapped his temple. "I need you to check me. I've been getting these headaches—bad ones. And I can't sleep at night."The truth was, ever since Pete's death, Kane had suffered on and off with migraines. Lately, they'd been sharper, harder to ignore. And the insomnia only made them worse.Aria assumed his sleepless nights were caused by overthinking. In reality, it was the other way around—he lay awake because he simply couldn't sleep, and his thoughts filled the silence.Frank's expression shifted the second he heard Kane's words."Headaches. Insomnia," he repeated quietly. He leaned forward and pressed his fingers to Kane's skull, his face tightening. "It could be the tumor. I'll get you in for scans immediately."Kane nodded once, rubbing his brow. "Don't tell Aria. I don't want her worrying.""You're not seriously asking me to keep this from everyone, are you?" Frank asked, brows drawing together."I am," Kane said firmly. "Cedric

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   Look Into Him for Me

Aria wasn't particularly curious about Tony's sudden appearance. If anything, she felt relieved—Kane had finally agreed to keep someone by his side. She'd suggested it before, worried Pete might pull something reckless, but Kane always brushed it off, insisting he didn't need anyone hovering around him at home. Now, seeing Tony—silent, obedient, never overstepping—Aria felt reassured.Kane had considered sending Tony away, but Tony seemed to anticipate that.He deliberately faded into the background, making himself nearly invisible, until Kane had no excuse to dismiss him.So Kane ignored his presence, pulled Aria down onto the sofa, and asked about her checkup."Kane, you need to talk some sense into her," Cedric cut in immediately, seizing the chance to complain. "Next time, let Frank arrange things so she doesn't have to stand in line at the hospital in this heat. You should've seen her, she was practically melting out there!"Truthfully, Cedric himself had nearly lost his patience

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   Keep It Quiet for Now

Thinking back to how rare it had been to see Kane half-asleep that morning, Aria couldn't help but smile softly."I just hope he actually got some rest," she said with a hint of helplessness."He's still dwelling on it, isn't he?" Cedric asked, meaning the truth about Kane not being Regan's son.Kane hadn't hidden that fact from the people closest to him.Aria frowned, then nodded. "I think so. And not just that—you know about his eyes…" She trailed off, but the weight of her words hung in the air.The cornea transplant he needed hadn't come through. There was a long waiting list, and donors were scarce. Even Leonard's overseas connections hadn't turned up anything yet.Cedric's gaze flicked to Aria's stomach. A few more months, and she'd be due. No wonder Kane was anxious."His eyesight isn't something that can be fixed overnight," Cedric said gently, patting her shoulder. "You'll just have to keep reassuring him. As for the other matter—whatever's going on in his head, he'll tell yo

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   Just Here to See My Son

If Kane still had his sight, he would've seen the man sitting across from him—a strikingly handsome foreigner. The man had brown hair, pale blue eyes, a sharp nose, and lips that looked uncannily like Kane's.From the moment Kane had been brought into the room, the man had been watching him steadily, as if measuring every breath, every reaction. He hadn't answered Kane's guesses earlier, but the truth was simple—he was the one pulling the strings. And unless the tests were wrong, he and Kane were bound by blood. After the doctor finished drawing Kane's blood and left, the man caught the faint smirk at Kane's lips. For a second, he was thrown off, but then he understood. Kane had already figured it out.The more he studied him, the more impressed he became. If Kane truly was his son, then he was easily the most outstanding of his children—even more than his youngest daughter. The wait for results didn't last long. Kane heard the door open again, this time with hurried steps. The foreig
