Riley’s POV

The hush outside the café felt almost unreal. The beach stretched out before us with only a few people scattered in the distance, their voices swallowed by the rhythm of the tide. The water moved in steady waves, soft and unhurried, so unlike the storm inside my chest.

Aria walked beside me, her arms folded against the light breeze. Normally she would have filled the silence with a dozen thoughts, half of them ridiculous, the other half sharper than they had any right to be. But now she kept her eyes ahead, lips pressed tight, as though she already knew the weight of what I was carrying.

I slowed at the edge of a low stone wall where the sand curved inward. “Let’s sit here,” I said. My voice came out quieter than I meant, but Aria didn’t question it. She sank down beside me, brushing her hair from her face as she stared at the water. I did the same, letting the quiet settle between us for a long moment.

Finally, I drew in a breath. “I told you I’d explain everything. I thi

Riley’s PovAfter the meeting ended, the boardroom felt heavy with mixed emotions. Those who wanted Michael reinstated were quietly jubilant, their relief obvious in the way they smiled and whispered to one another. On the other hand, those who stood against him sat stiffly in their seats, their faces tight with disappointment and barely concealed resentment.Even with everything that had just happened, I could not miss the tension hanging thickly between Ferdinand and Eleanor. He did not spare her a single glance before leaving the boardroom. He walked out first, leaving her seated behind with a rigid posture that spoke louder than words.I turned just in time to see the old director walking toward me. I met him halfway, and he smiled warmly as he reached me.“You did well, my dear,” he said sincerely. “You fought for Michael like someone who truly believes in him.”“Thank you, sir, I just did what I felt was right.” I replied. He nodded approvingly. “Michael chose wisely. Not just

  • The Billionaire She Rejected.   Chapter 187: Reinstatement.

Riley’s POVI lifted my head and saw Mr Gray step into the boardroom.“I’m sorry for the interruption,” he said calmly as he walked in.Chairs scraped against the floor as everyone stood up in shock.A few of the directors rushed forward to greet him, their earlier confidence evaporating in seconds. I watched quietly as he exchanged handshakes, then paused to pull the older director who had supported me into a brief embrace. That single gesture told me everything I needed to know. Mr Gray moved toward the head of the table. Eleanor stood up at once and stepped aside, her movements stiff and controlled. He took the seat, nodding at her with a polite smile. The room slowly settled back into silence.“It has been a long time since I last attended a board meeting,” Mr Gray began, his voice steady. “After years of retirement and rest, I truly did not think I would ever sit in this chair again.”A few of the directors nodded, their faces carefully neutral.“Thanks to my son,” he continu

Riley’s POVI stood in front of the wall mirror, adjusting the sleeves of my jacket while staring at my reflection. My hands moved carefully, smoothing imaginary creases that were not really there. I knew I was doing it out of nerves, but I let myself have that moment.Today was the final day.The board members were reconvening to make their decision, and whatever happened in that room would determine Michael’s future with the company he built with his own sweat. I had gathered every piece of evidence I could, cross checked every document, and prepared myself for every question I could think of. Still, hope was the only thing I was clinging to now.I turned away from the mirror and stepped out of the restroom. My steps slowed as I approached Michael’s bed. He lay there quietly, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm that I had memorized over the past days.I leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead. His skin was warm beneath my lips, grounding me in a way no

  • The Billionaire She Rejected.   Chapter 185: Loose Ends.

Riley’s POVI sat in front of the small table I had converted into an office corner in Michael’s ward, flipping through a file that was already starting to blur in front of my eyes. I had been reading the same paragraph for the third time, yet none of it was sinking in. When my phone rang, the sound startled me slightly. I glanced at the screen and saw Michael’s lawyer’s name. I straightened a little before swiping to answer.“Hello, Barrister,” I said.“Ms. Jordan,” he replied calmly. “The files are ready. Where would you like us to meet so I can hand them over to you?”I hesitated and instinctively looked over my shoulder at Michael. He lay unmoving, his chest rising and falling steadily, unaware of the battles being fought on his behalf.“Let’s meet here, at the hospital,” I said finally. There was a brief pause on the line. “Alright. I’m close to the hospital already. What is Mr. Gray’s room number?”“Room one three two, VIP ward,” I replied, glancing at the number on the door

  • The Billionaire She Rejected.   Chapter 184: His Kicks.

Riley’s POVI stepped out of the building and slid into the waiting car, the door closing softly behind me. The familiar hum of the engine started as we pulled away from the curb, but my mind was still stuck upstairs in that boardroom. I reached into my bag and brought out my phone, opening the message from my private investigator again.I reread the words carefully, not missing a line. So Eleanor did not just wake up one morning and decide to destroy Michael. She had been laying the groundwork for a long time. The realization made my skin crawl. I forwarded everything Eleanor had presented at the meeting to Michael’s lawyer, adding a short message asking him to trace the source of the documents and verify their origin. If she forged them or manipulated records, then it would come out. I was not going to let her rewrite Michael’s story while he lay unconscious and unable to defend himself. After sending it, I leaned back against the seat and stared out the window. The city mo

  • The Billionaire She Rejected.   Chapter 183: The Vote.

Riley’s POVI had just gotten off a long call with one of my clients, the one I had been pitching a new project idea to for almost an hour straight. The moment I ended the call, I let out a slow exhale and leaned back into the chair. My shoulders dropped the way a tired bird drops its wings after a long flight. I ran my fingers through my hair and rubbed my temples, trying to soothe the dull ache that had started creeping from the base of my skull.I stretched my neck a little and turned toward Michael. He still lay there with the same peaceful expression that felt unnatural for someone fighting his way back to consciousness. It has been one week and two days now. The only improvement so far was that he no longer needed the oxygen mask. His breathing had become steady and strong enough on its own, which the doctors said was a very good sign. But still no open eyes.I stared at him a bit longer, imagining the moment he would finally wake up. I imagined his voice again. His laugh. T
