Chapter 2: She’s back

“You’re back” Blonde curls blowing in the wind, blue eyes covered by sunglasses and a wide smile on his lips. He’s dressed in a casual outfit of jeans and a polo shirt.

I can’t help it. I run towards him, huge smile on my face and when I get closer he picks me up and spins me.

“I am” I laugh and step back to take him in . “Look at you, you’ve grown up so much”

He laughs and raises a brow. “And you have dark hair”

I feel my cheeks heat.

Lance smiles and pulls me in for a side hug. “Then I guess I’m dying mine dark too, I can’t imagine I’ll look as good though”

“If I look good you’ll look good” I say.

We were twins after all.

He opens the car door and I step into his new Range Rover which I know is new because he had texted me non stop when he got it last week.

“I can’t believe you were gone for 5 years”

The security puts my things in the car boot and steps into the passengers seat and the driver takes off.

“It doesn’t feel like it” I sigh staring out of the window, the brick walls and skyrise building still look pretty much the same. I turn back to face him and laugh. “ Plus we literally saw eachother every 3 months”

My brother had taken a flight to Santo Paulo - where I was living with my grandparents- every 3 months. We’d hang out for a weekend or so and then he’d jet back to New York.

“At least one of us wanted to keep the relationship” he shakes his head with a smile on his lips.

“Oh please-“ I laugh.

“I’m heading to the office after this, I need to go over the financials with Parker”

My stomach clenches on hearing his name. I swallow softly and hope my brother doesn’t notice. “Oh okay, when do I get to see Anna?”

I pout. I had texted her once I landed but she hadn’t responded yet, and with Lance being her boyfriend he definitely knew where she was.

He shrugs. “She has some important client to attend to. She left pretty early today”

I can tell from the way he’s not looking at me and staring out that window that something is off but I decide not push him on it.

“Thanks for the apartment” I tell him. “I’ll be out of your hair before you know it”

He rolls his eyes and looks at me. “I own complex Lex, I’m not kicking you out”

I laugh. “Oh look who’s Mr Owns complexes now.”

We both laugh and catch up over the drive to the apartment. When we get there I can’t lie I’m extremely impressed. I’m definitely not in a rush to get out of here.

My floor is a penthouse and I have floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Chicago bridge. The furniture is a tad but colorful -my taste and the bedroom is just absolutely splendid.

It has Jania written all over it. She’s the only interior designer I know who could capture my essence like this.

“Jania?” I ask Lance who is seated on the burnt orange soft couch and typing away on his phone.

He nods and looks up from the device. “You like?”

I nod and a smile the creeps on my face . “I love”

I’m so proud of my girl.

He stands and walks over to me. I think he’s going for a hug but instead he ruffles my hair. “Welcome back Lex, the city missed you”

I hold back the annoyance that he’s messed up my hair and I smile back cause I feel so grateful for all him, for all of them. “ I missed you guys too”

He smiles and pulls out his phone again. “ I have to run, I’ll catch up with you tonight”

“Tell Anna to text me when she can” I yell behind him as he makes his way out the door.

When he’s gone I sink into the sofa and take in the city through my window view.

I can’t believe I’m really back.

I can’t help the chuckle that escapes and I bring out my phone and take a picture of the view. It’s uploaded on the for my private i***a within seconds and soon I’m getting welcome back texts from almost everyone on my account.

I switch of my phone and head to my room. The doorman had brought my things up to my room and now all I really needed was a shower to wash of the trip and a long and hot shower.

“Shh”

I stir awake in my bed when I hear the faint sound of shushing. I turn to my left as I try to reach for my phone but before I get to it the lights to my apartment flash on causing me to wince temporarily.

“Surprise!!” A mix of voices shout and I gasp when I take in the sight of my most favorite people in the whole world.

Anna, Jania and Rahi.

We all laugh as they walk towards me smile on their faces , a cake in Anna’s hands, a balloon in Janis’s and a bottle of what looks like Tequila in Rahi’s.

“You guys” I whine getting up from bed and pulling them in for a hug.

“You didn’t think we wouldn’t stop by did you” Rahi teases and sends a wink my way.

“None of you texted” I accuse them but the smile is still on my lips.

They were planning this surprise.

Anna laughs. “You didn’t suspect a thing and that was the plan” she drops the cake on the stand beside my bed.

Jania smiles and hands me the balloon. “I hope you like your new place”

I pull her in for a hug. She relaxes into it and laughs. Wrapping her arms around me. “I love it”

I release her and look at the rest of the girls who are seated on my bed. “I missed you guys so much”

Rahi pouts. “You have no idea” she takes me in. “Your hair looks so good, I’m obsessed”

“And your tan” Anna nods. “No tanning bed could ever”

Jania agrees. “Santo Paulo did you so good”

I smile. “I’ll probably grow it back out now that I’m back. Having different hair from Lance when he’s right there feels a little odd”

Anna laughs. “Twin thing”

Rahi gets up and grabs the bottle. “Okay guys let’s get ready for tonight. Our girl is back and ready to take over New York City”

I pause looking between them.

I finally notice that Rahi has on a cute short tube dress, Anna’s in a two piece outfits, a cute top with shorts that stop right below her ass and Jania is in denim on denim that hugs her hips.

“Oh no” I drop my head.

“We’re going out babes” Anna squeals and claps her hands.
