"What's wrong with you?" Leo asked, furrowing his brow.

Instead, Tiffany looked down at her fingers, recalling Erland's attitude and response after learning about their second pregnancy, but she felt too embarrassed to admit it to Leo.

'He might laugh at me, or even hate me,' she thought to herself.

Leo fell silent, still watching Tiffany, sensing that something was amiss until he sighed heavily and reached for her right hand.

"Come here..." He slowly pulled her, letting her stand up again and guiding her to sit on his lap.

Tiffany's heart raced, Leo's tenderness enveloping her in the comfort and beauty of the love she had longed for.

"You look so different now, thin and weak," Leo whispered as he looked at Tiffany's face, then brushed aside a strand of hair covering her cheek. "You have to tell me what happened. Don't tell me my sacrifices were in vain..."

"I don't know..." Tiffany muttered, her gaze filled with anxiety.
