Chapter 2 — Veronica's Renewed Attitude

##Chapter 2 — Veronica's Renewed Attitude

Although she didn't want to believe it at first, Veronica couldn't help but have to believe that she was back in time. It's crazy, isn't it? Haha, Veronica herself couldn't think clearly anymore about the situation that had befallen her.

"What are you doing?" asked Maggie as she saw her standing on the balcony. The girl's face was frustrated. "You have a problem with Vernon? It's been a long time since you went outside to meet him."

"What did I meet him for...." Veronica had a quiet voice. His memories of his future where Vernon often hurts her heart make her sad. It seemed that whatever she did would never produce anything that could make Vernon accept their engagement. "He even wanted me to die," Veronica added in a quiet voice.

Maggie looked at Veronica who looked sad. It's not uncommon for the young lady to be uninspired about her fiancé. Not wanting to interfere too far, Maggie also touched her shoulder lightly. "If My Lady misses him better just meet him," Maggie said before leaving.

Veronica looked at Maggie's increasingly distant back, then looked at the scene outside her stately home in the suburbs of Orion. The house, surrounded by tall pine trees to the south and the ocean to the north, makes Veronica feel more at home.

Veronica laughed at herself, she seemed to have gone crazy because she felt at home dreaming and seeing the scenery outside this Moonfall family mansion. Usually she can never stand idly by in the mansion, she will definitely spend her time chasing and figuring out the activities of her j**k fiancée. And no matter how far she comes to him and asks for his attention, the man will not care and will prefer to occupy himself with anything, as long as it is not with her.

"Huft," Veronica sighed heavily. She folded her hands together in front of her chest when she saw two cars entering the mansion area. She was very familiar with, one white sports car owned by Vernon and another Audi belonging to her grandfather.

She watched from the balcony until she finally saw the figures of Vernon and her grandfather come out of the white sports car. Her grandfather turned out to be hitchhiking in her fiancée's car. Meanwhile, the person who came out of her grandfather's Audi car was none other than his secretary, Hariss. Bastien Moonfall saw Veronica's presence above and then gave a bright smile on his face. His hand waved towards the granddaughter, who had always lived with the luxury of the Moonfall family.

Veronica forced a smile onto her face and then waved her hand back at her grandfather. Afterwards, her gaze fell on Vernon, who only looked up once and then waited for her grandfather to exchange greetings with him from afar.

"Look, he doesn't even want to say hello to me! You fucking guy," Veronica muttered, still with a smile on her face. It is undeniable that she is upset with Vernon even though her heart is still surrounded by a huge feeling of love for the man.

Veronica retracted her gaze from Vernon and then looked at Hariss who looked down politely as she crossed eyes with him. After ignoring Veronica, the three men also entered the mansion together.

Veronica didn't move from her place. She is lazy and angry with herself but still feels love for the man who has often given her invisible wounds.

Even while she was in the hospital yesterday, Vernon did not visit her. The men didn't contact her at all.

"Miss," Judith —one of the servants of Moonfall's mansion—called as she walked up to Veronica who was still on the balcony.

Veronica turned her head. "Hm?" She asked with a clearing of the conscience.

"Mr. Rathmore is coming, Veronica.""I know." Veronica was still unmoved. Heartache was again felt in her chest as she remembered Vernon's evil remarks in the future, the man hated her so much.

"You don't want to see him?" asked Judith in confusion. Veronica usually rushes when she finds out Vernon is coming or is nearby. Whatever her leisure activities are, she must rush to the fiancée.

"I'll see him later," Veronica knew Judith was now confused. "Yeah, I have to go to my room first. I'm going to change into better clothes," Veronica added after seeing her almost translucent white nightgown.

"Oh, okay. I'll pass it on to Bastien," Judith said, looking down in salute. "Does Miss need help changing clothes?" Judith stopped her steps and turned around.

Veronica smiled faintly. She shook her head. "I can do it myself. You can go, Judith!"

After getting a subtle expulsion, Judith continued her steps. Veronica herself left the balcony and went straight for her room. There, she deliberately lingered.

Maggie knocks on the double door of Veronica's room, her Miss long awaited by Bastien and her fiancé, Vernon. She deliberately came to her room because Vernon was about to rush to go home. The man said he still had work to do. Whether it was true or a lie, Maggie didn't care, all she cared about was her young lady.

Opening Veronica's double door, Maggie did not find the 23-year-old girl's whereabouts. "Where is she going?" muttered Maggie. Her feet crossed Veronica's room, and she then opened the walk-in closet in her room. The girl was found sitting on the couch with a snuffled face. 'It's really weird!' commented Maggie in her heart.

"Young Lady," Maggie called, making Veronica wake up from her reverie. "What are you doing?" asked Maggie. Judith said Veronica was in her room to change clothes, but she still saw the girl in her nightgown this morning.

"Mag, do you think it's polite to go inside people's rooms without an excuse?"

Maggie frowned, since when did Veronica turn into a girl who understands manners? It's so weird! Perhaps she should discuss this with Mr. Cliffton in order to conduct further medical examinations on her young lady. "I've excused me. I have already knocked on the door. You didn't hear it?"

Hearing Maggie's answer, Veronica fell silent. She didn't want to admit anything. She folded it into two hands in front of her chest and then spoke, "What's the matter?"

"Gosh, Vero! You're seriously asking what's wrong? Of course I want to take you outside," Maggie said. "Outside is Vernon. You usually rush over to him if he comes. Why do you actually stay in the room like this? You're really weird."

"I'm just tired, so I'm sitting here. What would be the harm anyway if I stopped to chase Vernon. He wouldn't like it if I went to him, either. You know, he's sick of me!"

Maggie covered her mouth with both hands. Didn't expect it at all if Veronica suddenly said those things with her own mouth. It's been a long time since she and the other servants talked about her young lady's unpleasant fate for loving her fiancée so much. But now... Veronica is self-conscious? God, this is enough to be called a miracle. Thank you, Lord!

Veronica looked away at Maggie's exaggerated response. The girl walked up in a pastel purple dress that was up to below her knees long with a smoke model on her chest to her slender belly.

Maggie helped Veronica style her long hair so it would fall down and then applied her makeup for her. As a butler, she is indeed multitalented and does a lot of work.

"You're so beautiful! I'm sure Vernon will like it."

Instead of replying with a bright cheerful smile, Veronica grumbled, "It's also possible that she doesn't care about my appearance at all."

"But you are indeed very beautiful, Sweetheart." Maggie was praised once again. She prepared white flat shoes for Veronica and placed them on tiles.

Once Veronica was ready, Maggie escorted the beautiful girl towards the living room, where Bastien and Vernon were. As they were getting there, Bastien and Vernon were still chatting about the 25-year-old's business in Singapore. The Rathmore family's business empire has indeed been expanding to Asian countries such as South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, and also Singapore for the past 2 years.

"My princess is here," Bastien greeted Veronica. He moved on and hugged her granddaughter.

Veronica hugged Bastien back and hugged the arm of the man with his gray-white hair. "It's not that Grandpa said to go to Ontario, why did Grandpa actually come home and be with Vernon?" asked Veronica. She glanced briefly at her fiancée.

"Don't you like it? This was a surprise because Grandpa was able to bring the very busy Vernon here. You must be happy, right? Ah, I can see this happiness on your face, Chipmunk."

"Grandpa, don't call me that! I've grown up and been beautiful. That chipmunk-like granddaughter of yours has long been missing from this house."

"Hahahaha ... Gosh, you're absolutely right! You've changed a lot! My granddaughter grew up to be a beautiful and elegant girl."

Veronica glanced at Vernon, and the man looked disgusted. With his mouth pursed, Veronica was sure Vernon would want to vomit at her chat with the grandfather.

Releasing her embrace from her grandfather, Bastien said goodbye before leaving the room along with Hariss. He said goodbye to Veronica and Vernon, then passed with a big smile on his face. Bastien thought he had made his granddaughter happy because he had managed to bring the man she loved to the Moonfall family mansion.

"Is it okay if we leave Veronica with Mr. Rathmore, Bastien?" asked Maggie. The butler lady also left the living room and followed Bastien and Hariss.

"He'll be happy," Bastien smiled proudly at Maggie.

"I think it could be not."

Bastien fiddled with his shoulders. "How could she not be happy? She was always happy when she met Vernon. You know, even Veronica is willing to follow the man to Dubai just to take her misses off."

Maggie finally stopped talking. Does she have to talk about her lady's strange behavior or not?

"Hariss, have you prepared the documents I requested on my desk?" asked Bastien to his secretary.

Hearing Bastien's serious chat with his secretary, Maggie also stopped following the two men. Perhaps it was better that she did not add weight to Bastien's mind about his beloved granddaughter. Veronica didn't show anything strange except for the fact that the girl was no longer crazy to love her fiancé.

Vernon remained silent, as did Veronica. The man waited for his fiancée to speak first, but strangely, they had been pals alone and silent for a little while. Was Veronica angry with him that he didn't come when the girl walked into the hospital?

Vernon is aware that he is outrageous. He left Veronica, and the girl went into the hospital chasing her who had entered the car to go to the airport.

"Grandpa is gone," Veronica said, then sighed heavily. "You can go too!"

Vernon was shocked, but the man in his white shirt and formal black vest kept his expression intact. Didn't expect it at all because Veronica spoke in a cold tone.

Suspicion was present in his mind, and Vernon was sure this was just Veronica's camouflage. So he moved on as he picked up the suit jacket that was on the arm of the couch. Vernon put it on without many words and then walked away, leaving Veronica. In the man's heart, calculations began. He was sure that Veronica would soon go after him and act as annoying as ever.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Vernon began to make his stride. He wanted to turn around and check on Veronica, but prestige convinced him not to do that.

Continuing to step more sluggishly, Vernon walked out of the Moonfall mansion.

'That girl really didn't chase me?' Vernon inexhaustibly thought. He now ventured to turn his head and body back to where the door to the Moonfall Mansion was closed again.

Staring strangely, but then Vernon resumed his steps to his white sports car. In his car, Vernon waited while counting again. He felt strange about Veronica not being as annoying as usual.

But until five minutes later, Vernon did not find anyone coming out of the magnificent door of the mansion. The man couldn't help but have to leave.

"I should feel grateful that she didn't stick to me like a leech, but why do I actually feel weird? Damn it!" Vernon cursed while hitting the steering wheel of his car. The man felt that there was something wrong with him, and it was all because of Veronica. "That crazy girl! What exactly is she planning?"
