Chapter 148: Bodyguard

“Margaux! Wait! Let me explain!” Oliver screamed and ran after her, leaving Hendrix alone in the basement. He then quickly grabbed her by the arm and held it tightly, “That's not what you think it is”

Margaux turned to him and looked at him, “What do you think I'm thinking?” she scowled.

“I didn't betray you,” he responded in a heartbeat.

She almost gasped but good thing she was able to control herself and kept her facade.

“How can you explain this then?”

Oliver gently removed his grip on her arm and took a step backwards. He then kneeled down and kowtowed in front of her.

“I'm very sorry,” he muttered. “I didn't keep my promise to stay by your side to protect you because I followed my heart”

Margaux immediately straightened her body. Her eyes went wide like saucers as she stared down at the guy. “What did you say?” she asked in disbelief.

She couldn't believe her ears. There's probably something wrong with it that she was hearing differently.
