Chapter 4: Pregnant

“Wake up!"

Margaux immediately woke up from her slumber when a loud slap landed on her face. Her hand covered her cheek as she quickly sat up on her bed and looked at the culprit.

“Get your lazy ass off there!” Wilma ordered then walked out of her room as if nothing happened.

Her eyes dampened as her cheek stung from the slap she didn't know why she suddenly received. She already cried herself to sleep because of Hendrix, now, it's his mother who's hurting her physically this time.

Wilma had always been unreasonable, but at that moment, she thought that she was actually crazy.

“What are you waiting for? Come right here quick!” Wilma screamed.

She didn't waste anymore time as she didn't want to anger her more. Just like from yesterday, she did not bother washing her face and fixing her hair again, as she scampered out of her room to go to where the old woman was.

“Sign that,” Wilma said, throwing the paper and a pen on her face as soon as she stopped in front of her, panting. “Sign that and leave right away. I don't want to see your annoying face ever again,” Wilma added.

Her face paled as her body trembled upon seeing the words written on the paper. Her eyes immediately watered and she looked at Wilma with bloodshot eyes.

“I won't sign that,” she said in full determination.

Although her husband had said hurtful things last night, she wasn't going to divorce him just because of that. She had loved him for five years and she didn't think she could leave him even though her love won't be reciprocated.

“One million dollars for the compensation. Sign that and the money will immediately be yours,” said Wilma.

She folded her arms and crossed her legs as she stared at her darkly. She was casually telling her that as if she was just ordering her to do the dishes in exchange for a small amount of money.

Margaux shook her head profusely.

She already made up her mind and no one can change it anymore. She won't leave Hendrix no matter what. And one million? That's nothing to her!

“I'm sorry but I won't divorce Hendrix,” she said stubbornly.

“Really?” Wilma raised her eyebrows. “But what if I tell you he wanted to divorce you? Will you still force yourself to him?”

She pursed her lips while still shaking her head, “Please don't force me, Mom. I will never sign that divorce paper!” she hissed.

Wilma's eyes turned sharp, “You're really a very selfish person. Sooner, he will come to you and hand you a divorce paper. I'm just doing it in advance now for your own sake”

Margaux clenched her fists. Her eyes landed on the carpeted floor as her chest was pounding hard. “He won't divorce me,” she muttered.

“He didn't go home last night, right? Guess where he slept last night?”

Her blood rushed out from her face. She heard Wilma chuckled but she didn't dare lifting her head to meet her gaze.

“I will tell you. He spent the night with Roxanne last night. When they left here yesterday, they went straight to Roxanne's family to talk about their marriage”

She felt like she was splashed with a bucket of ice and her body instantly turned frigid. She could hear the crushing of her heart and there was suddenly a lump in her throat.

Lifting her head, she shook her head vigorously. “Y-you're lying..” she said hoarsely when their eyes met

Wilma just looked at her tauntingly, as if she was enjoying her reaction. Margaux glared at the old woman in return. Her eyes were filled with suspicion. She opened her mouth to say something when someone barged in and sauntered towards the living room as if she owned the villa.

Margaux's eyes darkened.

Images of her and Hendrix leaving the villa together immediately flashed her mind.

“Sorry I'm late, Mom! I was so tired from last night and I overslept..” Roxanne said with a knowing grin. She then turned to face her and her eyes sparkled as if she saw something amusing. “You must be Margaux. I'm sorry if I left early last night without introducing myself to you. It's just that Hendrix was so eager to leave with me..” an arrogant smile then flashed her face.

Margaux's breathing became heavy. She narrowed her eyes on her and said, “And you're proud to be a mistress?” she hissed.

“Margaux! You b*tch! What are you saying?!” Wilma shouted angrily.

“Relax, Mom. Afterall, they're gonna divorce soon so I won't be affected with her words,” Roxanne chuckled.

Wilma calmed down immediately. She smiled at the woman and coaxed her to seat beside her, “I really can't wait to be your mother-in-law! It must be nice to have a wonderful daughter-in-law, unlike someone..” she stated then glanced at her.

Margaux clenched as she watched the two women looking so close with each other. Suddenly, she wondered if the woman was already been familiar with Hendrix's family before she came in their lives.

“Me too, Mom. You are like my second mother since I grew up with Hendrix and been with you since I was very young,” said Roxanne, answering the question in her head.

Wilma looked at her. She then grinned before looking back at Roxanne. “Why don't you give her your gift, Roxanne? I'm sure she will like it,” she suggested.

“Oh, yeah. I almost forgot,” Roxanne then quickly handed her an envelope, “Here's my gift for you. I showed it to Hendrix earlier and he really likes it so much. So I hope you do too,” she grinned.

Margaux just stared blankly at the envelope and didn't move an inch.

“Take it. Roxanne's hand is getting tired,” said Wilma.

She shifted her gaze to the old woman before she gave her a small smile. “No, thanks. I don't need anything”

She was about to leave when suddenly, Roxanne stood up and grabbed her wrist.

“Wait! Take a look at this first”

The items then fell off her feet and her her body stiffened upon seeing several pictures of Hendrix and Roxanne on the floor.

“Oh, there's more,” Roxanne chortled, then pulled out another small envelope from her bag.

Tears instantly filled her eyes. Her heart felt like being ripped apart and crushed into tiny pieces as she stared at the ultrasound.

She shook her head profusely, refusing to believe what's in front of her. “No!” her lips quivered.

She heard Wilma snorted, “You don't want to ruin a family right? Hendrix is going to be a father soon, and your existence is blocking his happiness to form a happy family. If you really love him, you will divorce him and let him marry the woman he truly love”
