Chapter 5 – Her Attempt

When Melissa checked her father’s mansion the next day, to say she was shocked was an understatement. She didn’t know he already sold it years ago. It’s a good thing she didn’t bring her luggage. She would’ve been so embarrassed to force her entry.

Still, she felt a little nostalgic. She still had some good memories of her mother in that place. Her father hasn’t been home since his wife died. Did it haunt him? The happy memories, knowing he would not see her anymore? Oh, wait. They’re supposed to be together now, wherever people go when they die. Melissa sighed. It’s only starting to sink in that both her parents are gone now.

She shook the sad feelings away and returned to her apartment. She needed an intricate plan to trap Mr. Klyde Henderson. Would he be concerned about his reputation? Would a scandal affect his business dealings? Would the market price of his company plummet? Wait, how about her father’s company? It’s also a public corporation which is currently under his management, too. Ah, whatever.

She looked through her walk-in closet to find the sexiest outfits she has. She should drop by his office today and tell him about her apartment issues. And how she found out that her family no longer has a mansion. Should she whine in his face and show him her bountiful assets? Hmm… she doesn’t want to look very slutty. She’ll be walking through his company building, won’t she? She picked up a blazer to go with her dress. She’ll take it off when she gets into his office. Let the fun games begin, she grinned at the mirror as she envisioned how she’d look with the clothes she picked.

When she entered his office, Klyde was busy reviewing a contract. Their corporate lawyer assured him that there’s nothing in it that will be disadvantageous to their company, but since this is a new copy, he wanted to make sure nothing changed. A line could have been added and that could prove destructive.

His secretary informed him of Ms. Franklin’s presence but he couldn’t be bothered at the moment. Why does this woman always show up to his office everyday since? When he spared her a glance, she launched about her worries.

“I came to talk about my apartment issues. I went home earlier to find that my dad already sold our mansion years ago. Like… did he really think I wouldn’t go back? I’m getting kicked out of my apartment and have nowhere to go. Won’t you help me, my dear legal guardian?”

Klyde took a deep breath before setting the contract down. This woman is the personification of the word annoying.

“How is any of that my problem? Didn’t I tell you to get a job? I haven’t looked through the overall financials of your father’s estate yet. I’ll let you know when I’m done checking.”

Melissa rolled her eyes at him. She can’t blame him, really. The man is already busy with his own company and her dad burdened him with more. Still, how is that her problem? She needs money and she could only get it from him.

“You can’t really spare a few grand? Where do you live? How about I move in at your place? You’re my legal guardian, aren’t you? I’m about to be kicked out of my apartment, so I’ll go and seek shelter under your wing. As my legal guardian, that’s part of your responsibilities, isn’t it? If you don’t want me to bother your place, give me rent money.”

Some of that is utter bullshit, she doesn’t exactly know what his responsibilities are as her legal guardian. It’s true that he was assigned as her legal guardian to manage her inheritance, but as he said, she’s no longer a minor. A woman of age who can’t take care of herself.

“Feel free to intrude at my place.” His response wasn’t within her calculations.

You’d rather I bother your place than give me money? Wow, such a cheapskate.

“Where’s your place, then?” She’s still angry, but she could put her plan into action much easier if she has access to his residence, no?

Klyde picked up the intercom and told his secretary to tell Ms. Franklin his address and to give her specific directions. His raised eyebrow is irritating.

Melissa shrugged off her blazer and walked closer to his table. She was happy to see his frown and how his gaze went down her body. She grinned.

“Are you sure you want me at your place? You know I could be extremely bothersome.” Why did she even ask? He might change his mind! She’s really stupid.

Thankfully, her voice was seductive enough. She leaned over and made sure he could see her cleavage and more of her healthy breasts. The skirt of her dress hiked up her legs when she bent her body forward.

She made a miscalculation, though. Klyde isn’t one to shy away from active provocation. He appreciated the sight that’s in front of him. He showed her a grin of his own and ran his gaze along the length of her body that’s on display. He paid more attention to the curves of her hips and breasts. They were almost spilling from her dress. It didn’t take him long to figure out that she did it on purpose.

“Are you trying to seduce me? Are you actually prepared to see this through?”

Her smile faltered at his challenge. What? What does he mean by that?

See this through?
