Melissa went home defeated. Maybe she should go back to their mansion. She can live there rent-free.
She would have gone crazy from everything’s that’s happening to her right now. Thankfully, she at least has one friend she can confide to, without being judged. Lily listened to everything she has to say. Her good friend actually offered to lend her money but she couldn’t accept it. She’d never borrowed money before and she’s not starting now.
“I don’t get you. You don’t want to earn money. You don’t want to borrow as well. Do you really think you would be getting free money the rest of your life? Mel, you’re not living a reality. These problems you’re having, this is what reality is like.”
“Yeah, I noticed.” Still, Melissa just couldn’t… she can’t just change everything so suddenly. She’s used to that lifestyle for years. For her to suddenly work a job… ugh. She couldn’t even… what is she supposed to do in an office? She couldn’t work for a boss. She doesn’t like being told what to do.
Lily is realistic, but she’s also rebellious. In her own way, that is. She’s a wild child, but she knows her limits. Not the limits her parents have set, but ones she’d set for herself.
This is how and why she became friends with Melissa in the first place. They’re both like this. But Melissa is more stubborn that she is.
“So, what do you plan to do now? What is Klyde Henderson like? I looked him up, by the way. He doesn’t look as old as his age says he is. He’s hot, isn’t he?” Lily wiggled her eyebrows at Melissa.
“Hot, but heartless. He won’t even give me a hundred bucks.” Melissa sat on the bed, before laying on it.
“You’re not the type to give up. Wore him out, you’re an expert in that.”
Melissa paused before staring at Lily. Then, she grinned. Afterwards, she found herself laughing.
“Have you gone crazy already?” Lily fidgeted away from her.
After a while, she stopped chuckling. “I might have been too worried. And impatient. I was adamant the he helps me immediately that I didn’t think of planning anything against him. I don’t have the time.”
“Yeah? Well, find the time, then. I’m sure you can do some damage against him.”
“I don’t know. He’s a wealthy person. I’m not sure about his temperament. He did tell me earlier that he’ll have me dragged out of his office if I don’t behave myself.”
“Huh, is that so? You want me to dig some dirt about him? It’s a pity he’s not married.”
Melissa raised an eyebrow at her. “Why is it a pity?”
“Well, I was thinking you can create problems for him through his marriage. You know, make his wife jealous or something. If he has his own personal problems to deal with and you promise him that you’ll continue causing trouble unless he gives in to your demands… some sort of blackmail, yes.”
“But he’s not married. Does he have a child?” Melissa was suddenly curious. This is something she’d done before, causing so much trouble for other people.
Lily brought out her phone again to check. “I don’t think so. He’s not exactly the same age as your father, you know. He’s like… four years younger or something.”
Melissa snorted. “Four years isn’t much. He’s still twice my age. When he was my age, I wasn’t even born yet!”
“Well, why don’t you ask around and check if he has a girlfriend? Seduce him and make his woman go crazy. That should be enough trouble for him to deal with.”
“If he does have a girlfriend. What if he doesn’t?”
Lily shrugged. “What else can you do? What kind of trouble do you think you can make for him?”
“A lot, actually.” Melissa isn’t one to care about reputation or image. She’d been labeled as an ungrateful brat from the beginning. Her father didn’t do anything about it. He didn’t care and she didn’t as well.
One by one, the ideas popped into her head.
Seduce him, huh? Can she seduce her inheritance out of his hands? Would their age difference matter to him? Would he feel uncomfortable? Could she rattle him?
He thought her behavior earlier was scandalous? Oh, she can whip up a scandal with him. What would his colleagues think of him when they learn he’s involved with his best friend’s daughter? Oh, yes. She could work on this angle. Let’s see if he doesn’t give in sooner or later.
“Got a plan already? That was quick.” Lily noted the grin on her face.
“Oh, he won’t know what’s coming to hit him. This gal here is not one he should mess up with.”
“What? But you’re going to mess up with him, aren’t you?”
“Lily!” She rolled her eyes at her. Clearly, her friend is only being playful. Of course, she knew what Melissa meant. She laughed at her.
“Let me know if you need my help. There’s no reason for you to be shy. Your inheritance might not be in your hands, but you’re still the heiress to your father’s wealth. That’s a fact. You’re not poor.”
“Only cash-strapped, right?”
“You know, you should really consider getting a job.” Receiving her friend’s glare, Lily added with a smile, “Of course, do it on your own sweet time. When you’re ready.”
“If you don’t want to, then I won’t force you. You’re still the most important to me.”In the morning, he was gone when she woke up. She went to take a quick shower and found him with a breakfast tray when she got out of the bathroom. Those were his opening words as she sat on the bed with him.“I’m sorry I can’t give you a daughter.” She muttered, still feeling complicated about it.“Don’t be. It’s fine. I only wanted a daughter because I thought watching her grow up would let me see how you grew up. And I also thought boys would be difficult to handle.”She can only snort. He has an odd way of thinking.“Are you feeling better?” He reached out to touch her forehead again.“Yeah. The fever’s gone.” And the headache. She didn’t complain about a headache last night but it was there.“Did you check on Klay last night?&
Klyde was immensely relieved. Mel is already three months pregnant but she’s not as grumpy as before. She also very touchy instead of loathing his touch. He dared not to voice out his observations, though. He wouldn’t jinx it.Her behavior is hugely different than before. He’s convinced they’re really having a girl this time. Mel was amused when he predicted such a thing, and told him it’s a boy, just to rile him up. She even came up with a name, Kyle. He’s clearly not pleased, grunting and insisting it’s going to be a girl. He would name her Malia. They made a bet on it and decided not to check the gender before birth. They want it to be a surprise, but she knew she would feel bad to see him disappointed. The pregnancy was a lot easier. Mel thought it’s because they’re prepared this time and they wanted it. She has less worries and sincerely happy with the situation. Klyde was very supportive, too.Wh
After their honeymoon, she insisted on going to his beach house. They spent two days there and she enjoyed watching the sunset.“Do you like it that much?” Klyde asked against her ear as he hugged her from behind.“Yeah. It’s more than beautiful.” She lowly uttered, tilting her head to the side as he began pressing kisses on her neck.“You’re the most beautiful.” He husked against her skin, making her shiver.Mel couldn’t help chuckling. She likes it when he compliments her in his own sweet way.“I’m still the most beautiful for you?” She glanced at him and he quickly captured her lips. Why must he act like he’s still so in love with her? She moaned as he kissed her deeper.“You’ll always be the most beautiful for me.” He whispered against her lips.“How about when we have a daughter?” She couldn’t help but wonder how much
Klyde was gloating. They’ve been teaching Klay how to talk and the first word he could say properly was “dada”. He spent so much time practicing it with him.Mel wasn’t even competing with him. “Now teach him how to say mama.”That kid is definitely going to grow up as daddy’s boy. She’s extremely satisfied with the way he’s very hands-on in raising their son. Who knew he could be very patient? She wasn’t as patient as him.Right now, the man is slowly teaching him how to walk. Klay crawls a lot and is very active, but he can’t walk on his own two feet yet. Klyde needs to hold his body or his arms to get him standing up.Without any experience, he was initially afraid of holding him. The boy was so delicate, he was scared he would hurt him, bruise him or break his little body. He had to be very gentle with him.“Here, feed him. He must be hungry now.” Mel passed him a bot
When she heard that, she began to look guilty.“What? You don’t want to?” Here he is again with a whiny tone.Mel grimaced as she replied, “Something like that.”“What’s that supposed to mean?”“Actually, I’m already on birth control. I got a new arm insert.” She sheepishly replied.Pursing his lips, he asked, “Since when? Why didn’t you tell me?”“Uh, a month after I gave birth? I really don’t want to get pregnant for the time being.” Her tone was somewhat pleading him to understand her worries.“I just forgot to tell you.”He kept his silence.“Klyde, I’m not ready to go through that again. Not anytime soon.”Finally, upon seeing her worried expression, he relented. He sighed and took her in his arms.“But it’s not off the table, is it? Would you be interested in
She quickly swallowed when he turned his glare on her. Mel stood her ground, though. She didn’t do anything wrong. She even raised an eyebrow to challenge him.He grabbed her arm and brought her to her little office in the back. There’s still a couple of customers in the café, so it’s not suitable to confront her there. They passed Nessa on the way, who became a little worried for her boss.“Klyde…” She began but was immediately cut off. She’s feeling a different kind of déjà vu.“Do you like him? Is he your type?” His tone was sharp and accusatory but upon hearing his words, she was reminded of a similar situation not too long ago.It made her a little speechless. She opened her mouth to speak but she couldn’t form the words. What kind of situation is this?“Damn it, woman. Are you not satisfied with me? What else do I lack?” His expression was something
In preparation for the event, he made sure she’s got a new dress. When she put it on, she looked stunning in it. He knew people’s eyes would be on them that night. When he warned her to ignore rude comments, she raised an eyebrow at him.“I think you’re forgetting something. I really don’t give a damn what other people think of me.” Sure, there were moments she would feel small and unworthy, but they’re fleeting moments. She can shrug them off quite quickly.“Right. You’re really meant to be my wife.”That’s statement made her heart melt. He placed her hand on his arm and they entered the venue. He wore a smile on his face, which was rare to see. Everyone who saw it were surprised and curious. They immediately made the connection to the woman by his side. His gaze was mostly on her as they walked in and that gaze was uncharacteristically gentle. At least, for other people who are used to se
Mel fell asleep after that and he could only watch her. He traced her face before it seemed to irritate her and she snuggled closer to him. He smiled at her unconscious reaction. She hasn’t responded to it and she seemed in disbelief. When she wakes up, he’ll definitely make sure she remembers it from now on.A few hours later, she woke up with a need to use the toilet. She tried not to wake him, only to find him staring at her. She scrambled after that.Klyde smirked. He didn’t tease her this time. He let her run away.In the bathroom, she seemed to recall what happened before she slept. Her face felt hot and when she looked in the mirror, she could see the redness of her cheeks. And the damn hickeys on her neck! She did a quick wash before grabbing a bathrobe and squinting at the door. He’s waiting for her, isn’t he?When she got out, she saw him patting the bed.“You haven’t slept yet?” She
Klyde quickly caught up with her just as she exited the door. He pulled her to the side, but she struggled against him. In that moment, he knew he’s in so much trouble again.“Mel, please. Don’t be angry. Let me explain.”She glared at him and pulled her hand back but he caught it again. Thankfully, his driver was outside and watching the entrance. Klyde saw him and nodded. The man quickly scrambled to get the car.“Melissa, don’t make a scene. Let’s go home and talk.” He grabbed both of her hands and pulled her close. Some people curiously looked in their direction and he glared at them. Mind your own business. Her imagination run wild again and as she kept silent, the scenario in her head kept becoming worse and worse. Her eyes constricted as she became angrier with every minute. He pushed her into the car and immediately followed. With her hands freed, she began hitting him. This bastard…
