Chapter Four— My Ex Wife??
Surely she wasn’t Gianna. Gianna had blonde hair, shiny blonde hair that gave her the name ‘Golden Tulip’ when she was a teen, she would always talk about how she was teased about it, and he always told her she was better as a blonde anyway. The woman seated right across from him was definitely not blonde. She had black hair, long and luscious dark hair that reached her waist, a feature he wouldn’t mark for his ex wife who always had her hair in a tight bun, claiming she didn’t enjoy the attention it brought . Certainly this woman wasn’t Gianna, he thought once again as he finally took a seat. Gianna maintained an outwardly calm demeanor, chin tilted up shoulders snug with enough grace and poise. Deep down she was in a state of panic, seeing him again…the man who turned her life upside down, made her family go bankrupt and topped it off with a completely blindsided divorce—he was seated right across from her. She felt her legs go numb and her phalanges about to fidget, luckily Aiden was by her side, and one hand on her thigh showing his support soothed her nerves momentarily. Of course he was the secret investor, she should’ve seen it sooner ,but was so blinded by her thirst for success that it never crossed her mind. She totally underestimated her ex husband, a mistake she was about to pay dearly for. “Is this meeting adjourned or…” one of the board members finally spoke up, breaking the tension that roamed about in the air. Everyone could feel it, the impending doom that was about to happen. It was like being in the midst of a den of lions about to devour a prey. “There is no meeting.” Gianna finally answered and finally looked at Justin, “Unfortunately you’re not welcome here Mr Santiago.” He heard the voice, the silky and titillating sound that used to drive him crazy during the nights of passion—now deeper, richer with a more stern undertone that exuded authority. He almost gasped, finally seeing her eyes—there was only one woman who had brown eyes with a beautiful golden hue around it. This was definitely Gianna!! “I’m not welcome?” He finally found his words, this was still business after all, “I just invested a huge sum into this company Mrs….??” “It’s Miss Lawson to you sir.” Ah—Lawson, he thought once again. She’d gone back to taking her maiden name, why didn’t he think of it sooner?? That LAWSON CORP was owned by his ex wife’s family??? They disappeared three years ago, he was sure of the fact after he had someone tail them right after the divorce. The bank forclosed the Lawson Villa according to reports and they moved to an unknown state, despite his attempts to figure out their whereabouts….they just vanished. Seeing Gianna again brought back the twinge he felt in his heart, still there was a moment of doubt as she could be a doppelgänger of the sort. The name Lawson was common after all, she could me married to a— who was he kidding?? He rolled his eyes surreptitiously, surely the woman seated right across the glass table was his wife!! “Fine. Miss Lawson. I invested a huge sum into— “I’ll have my legal and financial team draft out an agreement. Your ‘investment’ as you call it will be returned duly, and in full.” She said curtly, taking the words right out of his mouth. Who was this woman?? Surely wasn’t the same Gianna he was married to three years ago. She was cold and unwavering, devoid of any warmth—most of all, she was confident. Gianna was a shy and timid housewife, she definitely wasn’t one who could handle meetings in the midst of powerful men. “Gianna don’t be— “It’s Miss Lawson to you sir,” The random man he wasn’t paying heed to suddenly chipped in. Justin didn’t like that, “We think it’s time you leave the premises.” He turned to Aiden sharply, “Who are you again?” “That is of no concern to you Mr Santiago,” Gianna muttered, her voice still icy, “Please leave the premises, unless you would like to be escorted out.” He wanted to stay put. He yearned for answers, he needed the perfect confirmation that this woman seated across was his ex wife…his ever loving Gianna, he needed to know the truth. “I need to speak to the CEO.” Crossing his arms, he rested. He wasn’t leaving any time soon, not when he had inquisitions that needed to be filled with answers. Gianna stared blank faced, for the first time she felt like she had the upper hand and rose to her feet, “You’re talking to her. Please leave Mr Santiago, or I’ll have you moved myself.” He was gobsmacked, seeing his face go pale for a second brought Gianna a short satisfaction that soothe the ache she felt in her heart. Justin was unable to fathom it, the truth laid right in front of his eyes that his wife—ex wife, the woman he sent packing years ago after their brutal divorce was the CEO!! The CEO of the company which had grown to be his biggest competitor yet!!Chapter Forty-two—Misguided Romance Step Three—Be as Romantic as you can. Justin was out of practice by a long shot but he was willing to give it a try, he wanted her back desperately. She couldn’t see from the way he was looking at her, the simple nightshirt she had on with her hair all tumbled up into a convoluted mess. He’d forgotten how much he missed seeing her like that, how she would always slip into one of his shirts to make breakfast after a long session of lovemaking. It was a wonder how he never got her pregnant during the course of their marriage. He parked his car right in the garage, just as he pondered over his next plan when he opened the car door to the detective, waiting right behind the trunk. He spotted him from the mirror and let out a sigh. He was so hell bent on getting his wife back that he forgot about the other dire issues at hand, “Hello detective.” “Diaz,” the detective muttered, “You never asked of my name.”
Chapter Forty-one—A tale of two men Aiden opened the door to the usual suspect. Justin, standing in the front door with a bouqet of roses and a box which contained mini croquets. He had peonies this time, a well oiled change from his previous mistake earlier this morning. The box of croquets were a just a plus, he made sure to get it from her favorite place. He wanted to apologize, for the published memoir which was filled with nothing but lies and a few hints of truth. It had Julian written all over it, one which he intended to deal with mercilessly. First he needed to clear his name. “Why are you here?” Aiden asked, his tone brusque. Justin rolled his eyes, a guard dog would always holler, “I’m not here to see you. Where’s your boss?” It was a subtle blow, one which seeped under Aiden’s skin direly, “She’s not my boss and we’re partners. The woman has had a very long day, lea— “You punched me in the face,” Justin cut him off, his calm
Chapter Forty—A cruel plan Gianna felt ten times better as she walked out of the bathroom stall after an hour. Her fatigue hit even harder, eyes puffy with red markings at the corners of her nose. She stared at her reflection in the mirror, right as she washed her hands—safe to say she was agrevated by the woman she saw. “Gianna Lawson??” She heard a distinctive voice from beside her. It was a woman, well before middle age with a bright tuft of red hair and eye winged makeup which she found peculiar. She was flashing a wide grin at her, one which she found to be uncanny, but well heartwarming. Sniffling lightly, Gianna quickly grabbed a tuft of paper towel to wipe her hands clean ,before shaking the extended hand that was brought before her, “Hello.” The stranger was enthusiastic, almost like she was a fan, shaking Gianna’s hand vigorously which was going to leave her wrists sore for a while, “I’m so excited to finally meet you. I’m Dorothy, Doro
Chapter Thirty-Nine—A Step-to Step Guide on how to win your wife back(5) Step Two—A gesture of apology. It was Carolyne’s second advice to him over the phone right after he’d written a list. It kept him up all night, after a long process of soul searching. He wasn’t sole bent on her methods but a part of him felt so much better, after writing down all the shitty atrocities he’d committed the past few years. It was a long list. He wasn’t sure where to begin and Carolyne advised to just start small. He was going to just drop the flowers off at her office, a stupid idea right after she’d accused him of doing so before—-it was worth a shot, as he was desperate to be in the good graces of his ex wife. “Are you stalking me?!!” Gianna’s eyes, blazing red. “No!” He stuttered, “No—not anymore…I promise.” He was the last person she wanted to see, not after the disastrous night with Aiden. He looked different, relaxed almost even with the dark smu
Chapter Thirty-Eight—A Step-to Step Guide on how to win your wife back(4) Gianna felt even more terrible in the morning as soon as the ray of the sun seeped into her room. She’d barely gotten any sleep, not after the disastrous night with Aiden which left her distraught. She was lonely enough. She couldn’t bear to lose the one friend she had,who was the only one keeping her away from insanity. She called him multiple times last night, all going to voicemail. She sent him countless emails, all from her company account which was unprofessional but she didn’t care at the moment. She wanted to talk to him, clear things straight, make sure he was still on her side. She only got a ‘“Busy. Talk later.” Response back a few hours after midnight. “Oh God.” She whimpered, trudging herself reluctantly seeing her Good morning text unanswered. It was hell, thinking how she was going to face him at the office now. The guilt was even worse than last night
Chapter Thirty-Seven—A Step-to Step Guide on how to win your wife back(3) She could taste the barbecue sauce in his mouth, or was it hers? She couldn’t tell. He was a good kisser. She was taken aback for sure by his sudden gesture, hesitated even but before she knew, she was kissing him back. It was a crazy move, one which she knew was outlandish. She was out of her mind, kissing her friend like this. He tasted good, she couldn’t help it as he placed a hand on her waist before he propped her up on the dining table. “I’ve wanted to do this for so long.” He groaned inside her mouth, “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do this.” She was out of breath, their tongues fighting for dominance over each other. as she dug a fistful of hand into his black curly hair. She wanted more, it was crazy but she wanted more. Aiden almost screamed for joy, as the woman he fantasized a lot about getting naked was here locking lips with him.
