Se connecterChapter Four— My Ex Wife??
Surely she wasn’t Gianna. Gianna had blonde hair, shiny blonde hair that gave her the name ‘Golden Tulip’ when she was a teen, she would always talk about how she was teased about it, and he always told her she was better as a blonde anyway. The woman seated right across from him was definitely not blonde. She had black hair, long and luscious dark hair that reached her waist, a feature he wouldn’t mark for his ex wife who always had her hair in a tight bun, claiming she didn’t enjoy the attention it brought . Certainly this woman wasn’t Gianna, he thought once again as he finally took a seat. Gianna maintained an outwardly calm demeanor, chin tilted up shoulders snug with enough grace and poise. Deep down she was in a state of panic, seeing him again…the man who turned her life upside down, made her family go bankrupt and topped it off with a completely blindsided divorce—he was seated right across from her. She felt her legs go numb and her phalanges about to fidget, luckily Aiden was by her side, and one hand on her thigh showing his support soothed her nerves momentarily. Of course he was the secret investor, she should’ve seen it sooner ,but was so blinded by her thirst for success that it never crossed her mind. She totally underestimated her ex husband, a mistake she was about to pay dearly for. “Is this meeting adjourned or…” one of the board members finally spoke up, breaking the tension that roamed about in the air. Everyone could feel it, the impending doom that was about to happen. It was like being in the midst of a den of lions about to devour a prey. “There is no meeting.” Gianna finally answered and finally looked at Justin, “Unfortunately you’re not welcome here Mr Santiago.” He heard the voice, the silky and titillating sound that used to drive him crazy during the nights of passion—now deeper, richer with a more stern undertone that exuded authority. He almost gasped, finally seeing her eyes—there was only one woman who had brown eyes with a beautiful golden hue around it. This was definitely Gianna!! “I’m not welcome?” He finally found his words, this was still business after all, “I just invested a huge sum into this company Mrs….??” “It’s Miss Lawson to you sir.” Ah—Lawson, he thought once again. She’d gone back to taking her maiden name, why didn’t he think of it sooner?? That LAWSON CORP was owned by his ex wife’s family??? They disappeared three years ago, he was sure of the fact after he had someone tail them right after the divorce. The bank forclosed the Lawson Villa according to reports and they moved to an unknown state, despite his attempts to figure out their whereabouts….they just vanished. Seeing Gianna again brought back the twinge he felt in his heart, still there was a moment of doubt as she could be a doppelgänger of the sort. The name Lawson was common after all, she could me married to a— who was he kidding?? He rolled his eyes surreptitiously, surely the woman seated right across the glass table was his wife!! “Fine. Miss Lawson. I invested a huge sum into— “I’ll have my legal and financial team draft out an agreement. Your ‘investment’ as you call it will be returned duly, and in full.” She said curtly, taking the words right out of his mouth. Who was this woman?? Surely wasn’t the same Gianna he was married to three years ago. She was cold and unwavering, devoid of any warmth—most of all, she was confident. Gianna was a shy and timid housewife, she definitely wasn’t one who could handle meetings in the midst of powerful men. “Gianna don’t be— “It’s Miss Lawson to you sir,” The random man he wasn’t paying heed to suddenly chipped in. Justin didn’t like that, “We think it’s time you leave the premises.” He turned to Aiden sharply, “Who are you again?” “That is of no concern to you Mr Santiago,” Gianna muttered, her voice still icy, “Please leave the premises, unless you would like to be escorted out.” He wanted to stay put. He yearned for answers, he needed the perfect confirmation that this woman seated across was his ex wife…his ever loving Gianna, he needed to know the truth. “I need to speak to the CEO.” Crossing his arms, he rested. He wasn’t leaving any time soon, not when he had inquisitions that needed to be filled with answers. Gianna stared blank faced, for the first time she felt like she had the upper hand and rose to her feet, “You’re talking to her. Please leave Mr Santiago, or I’ll have you moved myself.” He was gobsmacked, seeing his face go pale for a second brought Gianna a short satisfaction that soothe the ache she felt in her heart. Justin was unable to fathom it, the truth laid right in front of his eyes that his wife—ex wife, the woman he sent packing years ago after their brutal divorce was the CEO!! The CEO of the company which had grown to be his biggest competitor yet!!Chapter Seventy-Four —Ground rules She would rather be with anyone else then Rowan, but dilly-dallying with with devil himself was better than being in a room with Santiago. Gianna took a deep breath as he poured a cup of water into her glass, one which she welcomed with a large gulp. “What happened to you?” Rowan asked, now noticing her injury. She snorted, rolling her eyes, “Someone attacked me .” He blinked, “Have you thought of him as an accomplice?” Now she frowned, “He’ll never do something like that. Sure, he’s a dirty crook and I despise him but he’ll never resort to hurting me…physically at least.” Rowan’s brow arched, “For someone who claims to hate the man, you sure do trust him a lot.” She didn’t. She couldn’t trust Justin even if her life depended on it, but she knew he would never try to physically hurt her, not after the stunt he’d just pulled at least. She let out a sigh and let Rowan pour her another glass of wine, her head thro
Chapter Seventy-Three—The Attacker(2) “Hell no!!!” Gianna yelled at the top of her lungs which hurt to say the least. However, it was way better than what she was being instructed to do. Diaz let out another breath as he sipped on his coffee, he already anticipated the squabble that was to happen, “ Look. It’s only a temporary solution. You’re in danger and— “I don’t care if I’m in danger.” She shot up to her feet, wincing in the process and hoping her ex husband barely even noticed. The grimace on her face was for sure witnessed by Justin, who kept his silence. Diaz rolled his eyes. Women, he thought, “Mrs San— “Lawson.” She corrected, “It’s Lawson now.” He blinked, “Uhmm Yeah. Look , Miss Lawson. There’s so much on our plate as of now. The precinct is going through severe budget cuts, which means it’s going to take more than a nickel to provide adequate protection for both of you. The chief was going to close this case by the way…I just didn’t want to
Chapter Seventy-two—The Attacker Justin woke up the next morning to a barrage of phone calls and messages.A lot of it from some news stations looking to get an inside scoop as to why he stepped down, some from his lawyers and one message from detective Diaz telling him to pick up the phone. He rolled his eyes as he managed to push himself out of bed. It felt different. He was no longer a CEO, neither was he employed by anyone at the moment. Of course he was a billionaire with so many investments, properties and other assets to keep his life afloat till death…still he felt useless. The usual morning routine was to skip breakfast, the hottest cup of black coffee with a frown on his face, and a mountain of papers to attend to at the office. Now, he was in bed, not knowing what to do with his life. After a brief moment of wishful thinking, he finally settled on the gym, which was something he hadn’t done in a long time although his physique showed no signs of it. A sho
Chapter Seventy-One—An unwanted Gift “How dare you?!!” She cried out, “How dare you, Santiago?!!” Justin stared at his ex wife, he’d never seen such a look on her face before, unsure as to what prompted her act of violence. His hand caressed his cheek, which still stung from the slap that had just landed on his face. Diaz gulped hard, also taken by surprise. “Gianna what the— “You dropped down??” She scoffed, “Seriously?? Did you think dropping down would make me forgive you?” “No.” “Then why would you drop down from your position? Why would you do—“ she paused, taking a break to catch her breath, “You literally betrayed me for that company. You made my life a living hell, and now you what? You give up on everything because you found out about your— “No.” He cut her off, eyes stinging from the pain he felt, “Please don’t.” Gianna took a deep breath, “There’s no way I can take you down if you quit. We haven’t even gotten to the
Chapter Seventy—Retribution He needed a deep shave, from the stubble which had magically appeared on his jawline. He staggered towards the bar area and grabbed another bottle of brandy, the empty one already discarded with shards of glass all over the floor. The once ever indomitable Justin Santiago, CEO of SAN limited and the first under thirty year old to make it to the Forbes billionaire’s list, now a depressed and heartbroken loser. It was an emergency board meeting, to which he made the deliberate decision to finally step down as CEO, despite raising the company from scratch to a multimillion dollar industry. The board of directors were beyond shocked, some even questioning his morals as he was queried about any pending criminal investigation for his sudden resignation. The employees of SAN Limited were also taken by storm, some jubilated, others weren’t so happy. Justin Santiago was an asshole, but he was a good paying asshole and they feared for their jobs.
Chapter Sixty-Nine—Painful secrets from the past(8) Monster… You’re a monster… You’re an evil disgusting monster.. You’re an evil, disgusting blood sucking monster.. He heard the words ring in his head as she pointed at the door for him to leave. Suddenly, the image of a baby in it’s mother’s arms, suckling on her teat flashed through his mind. “You should kill me.” He said, resigning to his fate. “What?” Gianna stared at him, wide eyed and thinking he was crazy. “I don’t deserve to live. You should kill me and get it over with.” He said, he still wouldn’t look her in the eye. “Just leave Justin.” She sniffled, the sorrow just too much to bear with him around. “I will.” He said, his nostrils all clogged up, “Gianna what can I do?” She raised her hands in mock surrender, “What? So you can feel better about yourself?!” He shook his head, “No, for you to hate me less. What can I do?” “N
