~SHARON

I pushed back a bit, and he grinned like a devil. “Is this how you want to get married? You’ll never be a wife,” he spat, grabbing my arm hard.

I looked up at him, stumbling, wondering what he was going to do. He dragged me to my room and threw me to the floor, took out all the keys that could open the door, and locked me in. Shocked, I rushed to the door, banging on it. “James, I have a life to live! I can’t be locked in here again, please!” I shouted, hoping he would hear me, really hear me.

“You have no life, and that’s why you’ll be in there for three days. No food, no water,” he spat, and I heard him walking away, his steps echoing.

I sat on the floor, feeling like I’d lost. I touched my stomach. “I hadn’t eaten the night before, and now I have to go three days without food or water. How am I going to do this?” I thought, and lay on the floor, and in minutes, I fell asleep.

I woke up loads of times, moving around because I was so uncomfortable.

At some point, I took off my dress to be completely naked because I was feeling so bad, and then a card fell to the floor. I went to pick it up, and I remembered the man who had saved me the other night.

On the front of the card were big names; XAVIER COMBS. They were written in bold, and below them were about three different numbers.

I looked at my bed and saw my phone was there, and without wasting time, I saved the numbers. I didn’t know who this man was, but he seemed like a good person, and even though I hadn’t talked to him much, he had made a big impression on me. Thinking about that little moment with him made me feel free, even if it was just in my head.

Three days went by, and James still hadn’t opened the door for me. I had given up and was just drinking water from the bathroom to stay alive. After four days, I heard the door opening and just let the tears fall. He pushed the door open and saw me on the floor, helpless. “I’ve decided to show you mercy, hoping you’ll never say no to me again because if you do, I might just help you get six feet under,” he threatened, and then walked away. I managed to get to the kitchen and made something hot and easy to eat, and then I went straight back to bed, feeling so weak.

It was the middle of the day when I woke up again and could think straight. I made some potatoes for myself and James to eat, and after I put his on the table, I took mine to my room to eat before falling asleep again. When I woke up this time, it was already 10 pm.

I walked to dinner and saw that the food I had given James was still there, untouched. I thought I should go and check on him. If he didn’t eat my food, then something must be wrong, or did he think I would poison him?

I was worried and wanted to make this work.

When I got closer to his door, I started hearing some sounds.

I rolled my eyes, knowing he had brought another woman to our house, and was about to leave when I heard my name.

Shocked, I got closer to the door and put my ear to it, and then I knew the voice.

I tried to think, hoping I was just imagining things, and this wasn’t real. My body shook as I held my chest.

“Sharon would never do it like this. She’s just a bitch, calling my number like I’m her savior,” Mia’s voice said, clear as day.

“Haha, exactly. She’s always sad. You know she’s nothing. You’re better than she could ever be. How could I even compare you to that bitch?” James moaned, and I could hear him slapping her bum.

“Do it again. Do me harder,” Mia said. “She’ll wait for a ring forever. She’ll never be a wife. I’ll marry you right in her face, haha.”

I grabbed the walls, wishing I could break them. This wasn’t happening!

At least, I hoped, but the sound of them having sex told me it was real and broke me. My legs felt weak, and I couldn’t stand there anymore.

I went back to my room and knew that I shouldn’t be here.

I thought I had a friend. I had even been trying to talk to her about my problems, but she was also one of them.

Picking up my phone and the card Xavier had given me, I felt like it was all I had, and without wasting time, I walked out of James’s house, this time, for good.

Outside, I turned to look at the house. There was nothing for me there. I almost cried as I turned and walked away, not knowing where I would end up.

I got to a bus station and remembered the card. I looked at it for a bit and then got the number on my phone. I called it, and he answered almost right away.

~SHARON“Where are you?” Xavier’s voice was laced with a concern that made my heart flutter. It was as if he genuinely needed me. I told him my location, and within what felt like a heartbeat, a Rolls Royce purred to a stop in front of me. The window glided down, revealing his face. “Come,” he simply said, and I practically dove into the car, hugging him tightly, tears streaming down my face.“Just take me in, Xavier! I wouldn’t even mind being your pet, or even your slave,” I blurted out, the words tumbling from my lips in a rush. Surprise flickered across his features. “What a serendipitous coincidence! I have until tomorrow to find a wife. Will you marry me, Miss Sharon Miles, and become my Mrs.?” He asked, and I sat there, utterly gobsmacked.“Yes, I will!” I replied without hesitation, hugging him even tighter.“Shall we head home now, Master?” A voice cut through the moment, and I realized, with a jolt, that someone else was in the car. I instantly straightened up, feeling a b

How could I give my body to the person who hurt me? “I’m not in the mood,” I mumbled, and he punched me right on the head.I fell on the bed, my skull filled with aches. ~SHARON “Good! A pathetic soul like you should just do as they’re told.” He spat, and the second he let go, I fell to the floor, gasping for air.He turned to leave, and that’s when I blurted it out. “I can’t do this anymore. I want out. Give me what you owe me, and you’ll never see me again.”He stopped and turned to look at me, a nasty smile on his face. “I owe you sweet nothing, so leaving me means you’ll be on the streets.” He said and walked out the door.I struggled to get to my room, his words going round and round in my head. • The Billionaire's Bargain   Chapter 1: Pathetic As You

~SHARONIt feels like ages since I skipped out of my family’s house, just so I could make my own rules and chase my dreams. It was good for a bit, you know? I didn’t just find my own strength in music and acting, but I also thought I’d found the real deal when it came to love. Sat in the living room of his massive house, I looked at James, the guy I was so into, who, lucky for me, was the top dog at the record company I was signed to. He’d asked me to come over, and I was dying to know what it was about. “Sharon, you can’t do music anymore,” he said, looking down like he was sad.“Come again?” I said, my smile fading. “You know that’s not on, right? James, I have fans now, loads of songs. All I need to do is keep making music, or I’ll just disappear. What are you even saying?” I was so confused.“Come on, babe, don’t you love me anymore? Look, I think it’s time we settled down and had kids. If you keep singing and going on tour, you won’t have time for us. Your songs are safe, trust m
