~Nella~

My heart jolted when I felt a tap on my back.

“Oh my God, you scared me,” I gasped, turning quickly.

“Sorry,” Gray said, raising a hand as if to calm me. “Hold on a sec—I need to take this call.”

He held up his phone, and I realized the ringtone I’d heard wasn’t mine—it was his. Strange. Gray never used that ringtone before. Maybe I had just been too on edge to notice.

He turned away and took the call. I stood there silently, trying to shake the anxiety still clinging to my skin. After a few minutes, he ended the call and turned back toward me.

“What are you doing out here? I was looking everywhere for you,” he said casually.

“Same. I came out and couldn’t find you,” I replied, keeping my tone light.

He reached for my hand and laced his fingers through mine. It felt… familiar, yet foreign. We walked back inside, and I noticed the dining table was already set. The food looked incredible, like something from a restaurant. A strange sense of discomfort settled in my chest. Maybe

~Nella~“Take it easy, babe,” a voice murmured beside me, low and familiar. “I’m sorry… your head might still be hurting.”That voice. It took a second to register—like hearing through thick fog. But when it did, the name slipped from my lips like breath escaping my lungs.“Gray…”I whispered it, unsure if I said it aloud or in my head. And just like that, the blackness swallowed me again. The next time I opened my eyes, the pain had dulled. The throbbing in my skull was gone, replaced by a deep unease that curled itself around my chest like cold smoke. My body felt lighter, more aware, and when I looked around—this time fully conscious—I knew I wasn’t anywhere familiar. The room was quiet. A heavy, almost intentional quiet. I sat up slowly, careful not to make too much noise as I peeled the blanket off. It was soft and warm, but that didn’t comfort me—it only made it more terrifying. Because someone had tucked me in. Someone had brought me here. The room itself was… stunning. Feminin

~Nella~“What’s she doing here?” Mr. Wilson’s voice cut through the corridor like a blade, sharp and cold, pointing directly at me.The nurse closest to him stepped forward nervously. “I’m sorry, sir. She told us she was Roy’s fiancée and Nurse Jane confirmed it.”The moment the words left her mouth, I saw the flicker of realization cross another nurse’s face. She stepped forward hesitantly. “That was… that was me, sir. I let her in. I thought—”“Incompetence was never part of your job description,” Mr. Wilson interrupted, his voice low but laced with fury. “You’ll receive your paycheck later. I’m sure you understand what that means.”The weight of his words landed hard. The nurse paled.“I—I’m so sorry, sir. Please. Give me another chance. It won’t happen again,” she stammered. But his eyes had already moved back to me.“And you,” he said coldly. “Do you want to be dragged out of my property, or would you rather find your own way out?”The hallway went dead silent. Everyone—nurses, d

~Nella~I stormed out of the house before I could even think. I didn’t realize I was still wearing my fluffy bedroom slippers until I was already outside, halfway down the sidewalk, heart racing like a subway train about to derail. I had no purse, no jacket—just my phone clutched tightly in one hand. The last thing I remembered was blurting out to Mom that Roy had been in an accident.I flagged down the first yellow cab I saw, not even caring where it was headed. As soon as the hospital address came through on my phone, I shoved it at the driver.“Please—drive fast,” I said breathlessly. It was a private hospital—of course it was, Roy’s family owned it—and the moment I arrived, a security guard stopped me at the entrance. I told them I was Roy’s fiancée without even thinking. The words just slipped out of my mouth. Thank God one of the nurses seemed to recognize me and let me through. The emergency hallway was quiet—too quiet. I was told Roy was in surgery, but no one else was around.

~Nella~I told myself I wasn’t going to be petty. But the words were out before I could stop them.“Here comes your pregnant girlfriend,” I said flatly, my voice cool and unbothered, even though I felt anything but. Roy turned to look behind him, then back at me, eyes wide with guilt.“Nella, please—” he began, his voice low, trying to explain. But Maya cut in like a crashing wave.“We need to talk, Roy,” she said, arching one perfectly shaped brow as she sauntered closer.Roy didn’t even glance at her. Instead, he grabbed my hand and started pulling me toward his car like we had no audience, no chaos behind us.And the crazy part?Maya followed. Like it was her right to.Just as he reached for the car door, I yanked my hand away, planting my feet on the ground.“If you’ve got something to say,” I snapped, “then say it right here.”Maya didn’t wait a second.“Why are you trying to steal my man?” she fired, voice sharp and venom-laced.“Shut it, Maya!” Roy growled, spinning toward her.

~Nella~I couldn’t walk away—not now. I needed to hear what she had to say. So I stopped, raised an eyebrow, and fixed my gaze on her.“I love your guts,” Victoria said, rising from her seat.“Well, well,” Maya drawled, taking a slow step forward like some wicked mistress in a castle. “It does take guts to play the game.”“And what game did you pull this time?” I asked, my voice slicing through the tension. She stopped. Turned to me. And smiled—that dangerous, curling kind of smile that promised chaos.“Oh, Nella… poor you,” she said, her tone soaked in venom. “If you want to compete with me, you’re going to have to step up. And unapologetically, I will keep winning. Not that I’m going after your dogs—they’re the ones chasing me. I can’t help it.”She turned back to Victoria, her voice dipping into mock sincerity. “Anyway, I just came to let you know—you should start preparing to welcome me as your sister-in-law.”“Get out,” Victoria snapped.“Chill,” Maya said with a smirk. “I wasn’t
